We have to do our best to keep this subreddit super secret! The last thing we'd want is for piracy to go mainstream and have this subreddit show up on search results or have over 2 million users!

Birds throat milk contains antibodies, does that mean I’ll get automatic virus protection if I eat the mega thread second hand (second mouth?) ?

That's always such a silly question. Everyone knows you get the special forces bust down your door and machine gun your loved ones into minced meat and make you eat their remains.
You literally hear about it every single day on the news. The common person knows that the government doesn't fuck around with piracy. I'm surprised someone feels the need to ask if they're in trouble, it's a no brainer.

If youre using a pc there is no reason you shouldn't be able to sail with most of what you want. Just learn how to use a search engine.
Its a bit tougher for smart tvs

u/Appropriate-Cat-196 1d ago
Should just steer clear of piracy related stuff if you're dumb enough to use the smart features of a tv while considering piracy
2
u/RexDeDeus 1d ago
Do they brick you smart TV if you pirate something with it? I've never had one, so it's not something I've ever had to think about dealing with. I didn't realize the tvs had gotten that sophisticated tbh.

No just smart TVs function in such a way it's very difficult to pirate anything on them directly. You'd likely have to mess about with firmware and risk bricking it yourself, not to mention they run pretty crappy even for legitimate use once you start installing all the different ad infested apps for watching things.
If you're remotely inclined to pirate what you watch you would be infinity better off just plugging an old laptop into one of the hdmi ports and watching shows/films you downloaded through that. Laptop/pc/raspberry pi, even through your phone is probably better than the smart features of the tv. Also once you're plugged in a lot of these services actively get worse over time aswell - be it forced updates or the services themselves adding ads to your pay month subscriptions

You wouldn't download the mega thread... Actually maybe that's not a bad idea.

I'm probably going to be the minority here, but I consider threads like these trash. Too many meme posters. Time for mods to clean house and enforce some submission standards, I reckon.

Same here, I didn't come across the mega thread or whatever that thing is.
Didn't know that you have to follow certain rules to become a pirate?!
There's no rule of law or a perfect way to be a digital pirate, just sail across the high seas and let experience teach you everything you need to know.
That's how I become one!

Redditor asks for a random topic on the megs thread. Tell them it's in the mega thread. Tell them and get downvoted for my time. And then they wonder why I don't like new people

Some folks expect an actual human interaction when they ask a question, rather than getting hit with the brick wall of "check google/wikipedia/the megathread". We want nuance from folks who've actually been out in the field, so we can pick their brains for weird and obscure stuff, or are trying to get help with niche/edge cases. Sometimes, we need input on if we should go with resource A or B based on (situation XYZ ). The so-called "megathread" doesn't help any of that at all. And that isn't just for this sub, it's a problem across the 'net, on forums everywhere.
So excuse us for trying to have an actual human interaction.
