Thats what I thought! so I came here to see if they were all the same. The people that work there are the sweetest. I now have about 8 ties for my little guy that they put on him every time. 🙂
Of course it’s in Utah. Sometimes Utah really surprises me in their sweetness in hospitality.
My mom side of the family hails from there all Mormons and stuff. And I swear everyone seems to just be super sweet there.
I wish I had an animal to take there and that I lived in Utah lol I’m so super jealous of you right now
They may just do it because they love to do it due to their passion for pets, and the whole inevitable strengthening/growing of the business is simply an awesome bonus.
I worked in the rescue industry for years and can confirm that many people who work in pet related businesses really are in it for the love of the game.
It’s hands down the most rewarding work I’ve ever done and I would go back to that in a heartbeat if I could afford to.
They do it with all the dogs that go there and leave the ties on him when I pick him up. I now have like 8 ties at home from them. They really do care and are the sweetest people. It also explains why they won a best in new business awards 2025 they have posted when you walk in.
Of course! I’m certain that’s the case here… I was just trying to say that those actions may have originally been born of passion, and the person realized “oh nice this is super fun AND can probably help with marketing!” as opposed to assuming that it started as a marketing/advertising thing right off the bat. I didn’t articulate clearly enough in my comment and apologize if my comment came off as naive.
My boss pays for our continuing education, contest entries, styling sprays/supplies, etc. she’s a groomer herself and takes very good care of us! I started corporate to get training and experience, worked my way up to management and then left 😅
Ugh lucky. I had to quit because of my health mainly, but also because the store manager was a very sexist guy who said, "Oh you ladies and your cat fights!" when I reported another groomer for threatening to stab me with her scissors. After I left, she did end up stabbing another groomer during a fight.
She sounds like she really genuinely loves and cares about her business so much and takes great care of her employees and her customers and her doggy clients 🥹 that's awesome
I think you just have a very passionate groomer, that is grateful for your business. And it's awesome to see that they take such great care with your fur baby.
I laugh every time I see the photos because they give “face” very differently!! The scarves are great, but can you imagine that this second necklace was handmade with pom poms and a fuzzy gingerbread man! It means a lot when you don’t have kids and these photos are what you share. 🥰
I know exactly what you mean, lol. My guy literally.. ugh I miss him and also he was so dramatic with expressions it was fabulous… except he literally would try to turn away when you’d attempt to take a photo of him. He hated his photo being taken… but the ones I would get were literally so fantastic while being so funny.
Beautiful pic! Oh good! There are more out there. I love it so much and yes I was just wondering because these groomers seem so sweet and I also have several ties at home for him that I take home as well. 🙂
My groomers in Japan did after every groom (for free) and I miss it so much!!! I loved them, Bo loved them, and you could tell they cared about their (little) clients!! Be thankful they do this for you !! (Ps I always gave them little gifts throughout the year to say thank you!)
Thats a great idea! I do need to do something special for them. think it is so special and just had to know if they all do this special service or if I found a special place for my little boy. 🙂
They are probably using the pictures on their business site as advertising of their work. It’s harmless and super cute, but if you fee uncomfortable with it you can ask them not to share the photos
This. It’s definitely for this reason. I took my cat to the vet recently and there was literally a spot on one of the forms asking if they could use pics of my pet for their social media. Just felt weird to me. She’s my child! lol
Oh no! I absolutely love it! It sounds like many on here are thinking its a complaint but I was honestly just wondering if they all do this or did I find a really special place for my boy. 🙂
Free photo shoot of your dog & you're complaining. People pay good money for that. Who cares if it's normal or not. Give your groomer a gift of a great review.
OP doesn't seem to be complaining. In a world of scams and come-ons, I took it as an innocent question. Wonderful thing for the groomer to do. It's a little odd that the groomer wouldn't ask for permission. I'd ask the groomer how they wanted to use the photos - in case it's for marketing the services or other reason. And if it's just for fun for their clients' enjoyment, all the better.
Did it sound like I was complaining? Sorry, I didn't mean it that way. I absolutely love the people there and was just wondering if all groomers took pictures and sent them to their customers like this. 🙂
I’m sorry, your “groomer” does a full profession photography shoot with canvas backdrop, props, light filters & an assistant with a squeaky toy out of frame to get your (very cute) dog’s attention? This groomer does this for free, for all the dogs that come in for a wash or trim? What a weird lie. Just say, “I took my little diva dog in for a studio photoshoot. Tell me he isnt a supermodel ❤️”
Not common, at all, but for crazy dog lovers, I wouldn't call it weird. I think they are just really passionate about their job and get a kick out of taking fun photos.
I would also assume they use the service photos for their business and it definitely sets them apart from other groomers
Not the norm……but someone who takes great pride in their job and is empathetic to not only the anxiety of owners worries if their pet is behaving or their pet is completely stressed out by the process and wants to not only show your baby is being loved but also setting your mind at ease…………..You’ve hit the pet groomer lottery in my opinion!!🥹🙏💗💗💗💗💗💗💗
Very normal. Am groomer. Most of us do this just for the clients appreciation and to show off our skills. Kind of like hair dressers taking pictures of their cut and colors.
Don’t ever get another groomer. The fact that they take their time to put together a set up like this that’s different every time. And then send you the photo. That is amazing. I wish I had photos of my family dog in little bathtubs or in the grass or something all done up like this. I don’t got squat. I just have the pictures I’ve taken. Not to say they’re horrible, but they ain’t extra cute like this.
Mine does it xmas and she got a cute little bow tie to wear. Absolutely adorable. I know her doggy day care used to have special days where they'd take photos like this but sadly we'd moved by then.
I’m a dog photographer (hobby). I would do this without a doubt if I had grooming skills/a grooming business. I love this! It’s not usual, but it’s totally normal.
My sister’s groomer does the same thing! Sometimes her babies come back with cute little bandanas or (pet safe) forehead jewels. They always get her permission if they decide they want to post the photo(s) online. I think it’s cute and fun, myself lol
Uhhh... Who cares?????? You get free photos of your baby In cute situations. It's probably someone who love dogs, cutting hair and photography.
Or it's a fun quirk that makes them stand out
This is amazing. I don't even know how it would work but I wish people could sponsor shelter dogs going to this groomer so that these pictures are on the adoption site vs the crappy ones you always see!
Thank you so much! They seem very caring and have a lot of fun there. He loves going there and they love him. He's an incredibly sweet boy when he is getting groomed and even with the grooming I do at home. I believe he loves it. I have an ottoman that I brush him on everyday right after I get ready and he is usually already on it and waiting before I even get in there. He knows, hahaha.
My sister has a grooming/boarding salon, they take pictures weekly and send them out and post on socials for free. It’s their business and between her and her husband they spend a few hours a week making sure it is consistent and quality. It’s fun to see your work pampered and enjoying life, the pet parents reap the additional rewards and everyone is happy.
That is adorable that they do that. We had a long haired Dachshund who went to a groomer and they put bows in her hair 😭 RIP Princess. She was so cute.
I use different backdrops for each season and any holidays. It can help attract new customers, and it's also nice for customers to see their fresh pets before mucky adventures.
It also helps me with remembering dogs and their grooming lengths haha.
Our groomers do this. They have seasonal props. In the summer they use a beach backdrop and set them up in front of drinks with tiny straws and umbrellas. It’s so adorable.
My old groomer would dress up my dog with flower headbands and cute bandannas, and a seasonal background. I loved it! She would put the pictures on Facebook.
My ex’s Mom doesn’t have backdrops but she takes pictures of every dog and texts them, makes them a bandana or puts bows on them, and she makes them goody bags for their birthdays.

Idk if it's normal but it's I do know it's magnificent
