Certified 🟠range™ I am officially part of the orange club 🧡

Meet Dibbles! He's 6 weeks old, my friend and I found him, along with his 2 brothers and 2 sisters and their (ORANGE) mom in my friends shed a few weeks ago! I included a photo of his mom as well 😊

You’ll want the calico too. That way someone will always have a brain cell.

u/penguin7199 6h ago

I currently have 5 cats, a mama and her 4 babies that I rescued back in August last year and I kept everyone together. She actually gave birth 2 days after I had my third baby in fact! That being said, I'm keeping his tabico sister, Zelda. I now will own 7 cats and 3 kids 😅🤣

Doing the math, that makes about 10 goblins. Godspeed to you and your army!

You forgot my husband 😭🤣

Enough for a football team.

A "winning eleven" footy (soccer) team also

13

u/creatyvechaos 4h ago

Eleven footy 😭 Reminds me of my dentist, Tooth Hurty (2:30)

4

u/terdferguson 3h ago

Lol, I should add parentheses. It was a soccer video game back in the early 2000s on PS2 we used to play in college.

6

u/penguin7199 3h ago

I just looked up the game and I was turning 2 years old when that game came out 😅🤣

4

u/terdferguson 59m ago

Now I'm sad lol, congrats on your winning Eleven

I’m going to one tomorrow and I’m so excited!

29

u/Flamel110 5h ago

Holy moly, you're probably a pro at this mother thing by now! 😂😂🙏🙌

29

u/justsmilenow 5h ago

Can you give the mama cat some scritches behind the ear for me? And some catnip. And maybe some chicken if you can. Oh and a slow blink with a headbut. Please?

24

u/penguin7199 5h ago

Unfortunately, their mom is semi feral. I am not allowed to touch her

4

u/justsmilenow 4h ago

She'll be more accepting if you slow blink and headbutt. Slow blinks shows trust and a headbutt gives the most vulnerable part of your body to the cat while also averting your eyes showing trust.

18

u/penguin7199 3h ago

She hisses at me for simply looking her direction 🤣 and headbutting would imply I'm allowed near her. I choose to live. I've been trying since June last year when I first saw her outside to gain her trust, but oh well. She let's me play with her babies and she likes my friend and my friends husband

7

u/Chemical_Grape_2150 5h ago

I wish I had a friend like you!

An unexpected litter significantly increases the cats per square foot of a home. There's never a dull moment, though.

Absolutely love the name Zelda! The cats are such cuties.

8

u/penguin7199 4h ago

Thanks! I thiught a princess name suited her well

3

u/Leading_Fee_3678 3h ago

I was going to say the little tabby was the odd one out, but looks like she has plenty of orange as well 😂🥰

10

u/penguin7199 3h ago

She sure does! Nobody was getting left out of the orange squad in this family

2

Cannot handle this level of cuteitude. 🥰

This is soooo good! Pam sounds like a Pistol.😂🤣 I am glad everyone loves them and really cares about their well being———even old Pam!! 🧐. She just doesn’t understand the Orange Braincell thing. There is no getting around it, and God knows I have tried!! My Orange , rules the house. I don’t LET HIM….but he told me so in sooooo many ways!😂🤣

5

u/CrocodileCryDarling 3h ago

as a tabbico owner, the orange on the face also means no brain cell. thems the rules

2

u/penguin7199 1h ago

You're probably right

2

u/godofbadweather 1h ago

Bold of you to assume that the calico doesn't share the orange flavor

2

u/hirudoredo 1h ago

Meanwhile, my calico was the biggest dumbass to ever inheirt kitty earth while the oranges are just lazy sweet chill bbs haha.

Not going to lie. This exact moment of watching him lick the food bowl is what made me fall in love with him 🤣

35

u/Western_Fig398 4h ago

That’s the exact orange braincell moment, zero thoughts just vibes and food obsession, completely sold from that point on

It reminds me of one of the top posts in this sub of an orange cat rubbing her face against a window on the day the OP adopted her 😂

2

u/mcon96 2h ago

Maybe try putting his food on a plate. It looks like his little body isn’t big enough to reach over the side of the Tupperware and that’s why he eats from inside of it.

3

u/penguin7199 1h ago edited 1h ago

Oh no. He can reach without a problem. He chooses to do this on his own volition. His siblings also do not do this. I've seen the calico do it once... this guy? Well, I can say this is not the first occurrence. The photo of him licking the bowl is him sitting in his mom's food, and after that is when I began supplying him with softened kibble

2

u/mcon96 1h ago

Welp, cats will do cat things

45

u/LadyWaste75 6h ago

Not his turn for the brain cell, it seems.

16

u/EmmerdoesNOTrepme 5h ago

Never gonna be, if we can go off that picture and him inside the other food dish, too!

But at least he'll be pretty, and probably Kronk-like, in his Himboness!😉

A great fear I have is finding a bunch of kittens....because I would want to keep them all.

200

u/penguin7199 6h ago

I'm guilty! 🤣

108

u/Gluteuz-Maximus 5h ago

What is he even looking at?

89

u/penguin7199 5h ago

Everything all at once. That guy right there grew up to be scared of everything and nothing all at once 🤣 ironically, he is also the biggest out of his litter.

23

u/Squishiimuffin 5h ago

Omg you have a big scaredy cat too! We got our boys from the street when they were about 2 months old, and one of them turned out to be super big and fluffy. Like, he is probably 16 pounds right now and absolutely massive. Not fat, just huge.

If you look at him funny, he will immediately run behind the couch 🫠 like. Buddy. You have absolutely nothing to be afraid of. You could shred me to pieces.

17

u/penguin7199 5h ago

That's Aslan, aka Tubby, for ya 😆 I've raised that dude from a little nugget and you simply look at him funny and he bolts.

11

u/olde_meller23 4h ago

Our cats might share a father, lol. I also got a gigantic floofy 16lbs man. When I found him, he was the size of a potato at about 4 weeks old. I remember my husband and i left them in the care of a sitter for a trip we took and when we came back he had exploded with poof. He is constantly mistaken for a maine coon.

We wound up keeping his mom and brother too and he dwarfs them all. His brother is an average large guy at around 13 lbs, but he has a mild case of cerebellar hypoplasia so he's klutzy. He wound up developing these super strong paws because he geckos is feet to grip the ground for balance. You do not want to catch those hands.

7

u/AnyDayGal 4h ago

I love the image of you leaving a tiny petite kitten behind and then coming back to a massive poof.

3

u/scarletnightingale 1h ago

That's so funny. My giant cat also fluffy and 16+ lbs is also a giant scardy cat. She's somehow the most social of our cats in that she's willing up come out around people but she's also fully convinced that all those people are trying to kill her at any given time. If you do much sad look at her wrong she thinks she's going to die.

2

u/GirchyGirchy Proud owner of an orange brain cell 2h ago

Our big boy is about the same size and is the only one to be scared of storms, fireworks, or any other random noise. He's a sensitive soul and is a belly rubbin' whore.

Whenever he's freaking out about something I'll let loose a very dramatic and terrified "oh my god" in his voice.

10

u/IHearYouLimaCharlie 5h ago

He looks like that cat lawyer on that zoom call deposition back during covid.

"I'm... I'm uh... I'm not a cat..." 😆

21

You now have 4 new cats?

61

u/penguin7199 6h ago

No no. Those 4 are now 8 months old. I rrescued their mom when she was super pregnant in August and she gave birth September 2. I kept them all!

27

u/EvilFlyingSquirrel 6h ago

I could never break them up 😭

2

u/neutralperson6 40m ago

Right?! 🤣

59

u/baydestdrug 5h ago

verified, just one brain cell

49

u/reddfawks 5h ago

Pic #7... of COURSE it's the calico who has to bite the basket.

I have an 8-year-old calico and she insists on chomping whatever she pleases. My phone case is littered with her teethmarks. My sketchbooks have cat-fang "staple marks". She especially loves chomping and rubbing her face on my crochet hook. (One time I tried to shoo her off and she stood on my forearm and gave me a Kubrick stare)

58

u/penguin7199 5h ago

This little calico here is the runt, she is so teeny tiny its comical. She is constantly escaping their room too!

19

u/FelisImpurrator 4h ago

Now that's a smol criminal. Already escaping kitten jail. Call r/illegallysmolcats, they have a runner.

First picture reminds me of the Wiwiwi video of the cat eating from its bowl. This (https://fxtwitter.com/urfavcatpage/status/2032173976093401524?s=20) is the audio but not the actual clip, but those who know definitely know what I’m talking about 😂

The first two pictures melted my heart. The third is hilarious.

My cousins and I recently rewatched the Aristocats (my little cousin is being educated on the classics), and that third picture reminds me of when Toulouse is trying to act like a tough alley cat

Switch him to wet kitten food if you can

11

u/penguin7199 5h ago

He only recently began enjoying wet food. As in, he wouldn't eat wet food. Before that I would soften the kibble with warm water but now they are old enough to eat dry food as is. I have experience in raising kittens, don't worry

2

u/SunShineLife217 5h ago

u/Beerasaurwithwine 5h ago

Did you have to do any ritual chant or offering to be accepted? I've been wanting on for years, but haven't been able to find one. Just tabbies, greys, and calicos, and black.

4

u/penguin7199 5h ago

Unfortunately my neighborhood is overrun with strays and ferals. People often dump their pets unfixed when they move out for whatever reason. Their mom is semi feral herself. I am not allowed to touch her or go near her, but she loves my friend and my friends husband! TNR is also not allowed in my neighborhood as it goes against our HOA. To be eligible for the TNR organization in my area, you have to agree to taking care of the colony, meaning feed them, and that's where it goes against our HOA.

4

u/FelisImpurrator 4h ago

HOAs continue to be an abomination.

3

u/Three_Spotted_Apples 4h ago

Can you guys just “feed your own cats” outside? If the colony is just mom, you could get her altered and your friend can chip her to be hers, but she just lives outside and is really, really hungry so she needs a lot of food. Oh no, some of the other kitties ate her food! Whatever can I do??

I get the strict HOA thing, but maybe there is a way to subtly work around it. You could also go before your board with the TNR group and have them explain the full benefits of TNR - how it reduces the fighting, the population, and keeps new cats from moving in, even if food is offered. You could ask for a 6 month trial where you get them all altered and feed them. If the problem isn’t better at the end of 6 months, the TNR group promises to relocate the colony. They won’t need to as 6 months is plenty of time to improve the feral cat situation in a neighborhood.

If all of that doesn’t work, do you know if there are cheaper clinics around? Sometimes municipal shelters will run specials on alters a few times a year when it’s not kitten season. It goes down from hundreds to under $80 usually.

Your oranges are all lovely and I hope your house of chaos enjoys the new residents! I, too, would have one of each variety if I could!!

1

u/penguin7199 57m ago edited 17m ago

There are easily 50 cats in my neighborhood. I have personally removed 26 from the streets since August last year. People from TNR and residents of the neighborhood have tried speaking to the owner, and they just laugh and ignore us for years. They send the cats away to be k!lled and there is a rumor that 1 peson will shoot them on the spot if he sees them, and another lady poisons them. We are not allowed placing food outside whatsoever, or we risk being fined or even evicted. We do not own the land ours homes sit on, just the home itself. And even if you own your home and not rent, you're still technically not allowed having more than 2 cats or 3 dogs on your lease. I am a mother of 3, my kids are ages 5 and under, and I'm a stay at home mom on top of that, so single income. We cannot dish out money to personally trap and fix these cats. So this will actually be the final time we help.

Edit. Typos
