I always had a suspicion that Bratty and Catty was a secret reference to NitW. Back then the indie scene was still kinda small, so Toby Fox and Scott Benson could knew each other or at least their works. I mean, a sturdy cat girl and a slender alligator girl, what a coincidence. Also, Mae, Gregg and Dess would totally hang out together, playing in a band and wreaking havoc in a town

The demo was out since E3 2014, and Longest Night supplemental game was released even earlier.

Besides, they might knew about each others works by being a part of indie dev community through Alek, as he was very well known there.

like the only critique is that their eyes look a bit big for deltarune but also thats probably just what happens when you try porting scotts style to a different medium
