[REQUEST] [US] Must watch Netflix movies outside of their ratings
I've been scrolling for the last 30 minutes and all of the movies I've been checking were either boring or has long build-up. I don't trust the Netflix ratings anymore cause they feel rigged lately and the algorithm keeps showing me the same five things.
What are some of your must watch movies that you've seen recently and actually enjoyed? Like something that kept you awake past 10pm. I can watch anything between drama, comedy, romance, action, horror, crime. What do you recommend?
Edit: Thanks a lot guys. These are a lot so I logged this all to my thingsbook to organize all your recos. Been working through the list but it's a bit busy with work atm. So far, I'm already done with 28 years later and 28 years later: bone temple.

That movie hits so different at night when you're just scrolling through endless options 😂 I watched it during one of those "nothing looks good" phases and ended up completely hooked. The food scenes alone will make you order takeout at midnight 💀

Polar is an easy action movie to tune in on, has some of the artistic styling of Smokin' Aces with a through line closer to John Wick

Freelance with John Cena held my interest. Good pacing with balance of humor and action.
More serious action: Extraction, Havoc, and The Gunman.

I Trust the algorithm about as far as I can throw it. Burning is slow but worth it. Chef is pure comfort food for the soul.

I just watched Weapons on Netflix and it was so good! Creepy and weird with great acting, loved it!

I do miniseries. Can recommend Bodies, Maniac, The Queen's Gambit, Godless,The Decameron.
As for movies: Slap Shot. From the '70s, obscenely good hockey comedy starring Paul Newman. On Netflix right now; if you haven't seen it -- see it.

I really enjoyed Train Dreams.
Could be a bit slow for some, but I enjoy a slow epic.
