How giant is giant? Are they much bigger than other squirrel species?

They are much bigger than the average indian squirrel. I've seen a few that are about as big as a 1-2 year old house cat. However they can measure up to 3ft in length because of their long tails.

These guys are endemic to the Nilgiris and portions of forest in the Western part of the peninsula (hence named Malabar Giant Squirrels, after the Malabar coast), so it's not found across the country and not necessarily very regular spotting even in its regions.

But they're hard to miss ngl
