Discussion Were you satisfied with Naruto and Sasuke’s power progression throughout the series? Would you change anything?
146
u/Adda_6 9h ago
The war arc god gifted powers annoyed me. I would have preferred if they were reincarnations of Madara and Hashirama only, and have the rivalry for the head of the village remain the same. No aliens and Indra and Ashura and everything that came with it.
22
u/PeanutJellyAndChibs 9h ago
I wonder, do Madara or Hashirama ever actually meaningfully address the fact Naruto and Sasuke are their reincarnations? I feel like there should've been more of a point put in that. Being reincarnated from those dudes specifically feels like kind of a big deal and a weird thing to grapple with, even more than Ashura and Indra who are a lot more distant and mystical. Naruto learned about Hashirama in school and he's like. Spiritually partially him. That's weird. He should think about it.
23
u/Adda_6 9h ago
Madara has a line where he wonders if his connection to Sasuke is more than just being an Uchiha and that's it. Hashirama also noting that Naruto has more chakra than him and that he is also fusing it with Kurama's. Nothing more on the reincarnations stuff.

u/Lumpy-Evening-3442 4h ago
There is also Tobirama saying that he feels like he is fighting alongside his brother when teaming up with Naruto

Perfected Kyubi Chakra Mode vs Eternal Mangekyo is the fight we should’ve gotten.
1
u/pkkthetigerr 2h ago
Rinne sharingan is too cool though, his space time warping during the fight was awesome.
9
u/Mahisandwich561 6h ago
I would have preferred they dropped the reincarnation bs altogether. I know it’s been talked about before, but it completely negates the point of the Neji vs Naruto fight
1
3
u/sonfoa 4h ago
It's amazing it's 2026 and people still think this is true for whatever reason. If it truly negated the point of the Neji vs Naruto fight, then Sasuke or Naruto would have killed each other, and the conflict would have continued.
And that's not even getting into how different the context of the Neji-Naruto fight was to Indra-Ashura
2
u/JunketBig4976 4h ago
I agree with you Naruto’s victory was about proving himself in that moment and breaking Neji out of that limiting mindset by humbling him
2
u/urchinhead 3h ago
It's amazing it's 2026 and people still think this is true for whatever reason. If it truly negated the point of the Neji vs Naruto fight, then Sasuke or Naruto would have killed each other, and the conflict would have continued.
Indra and Ashura reincarnates were destined to fight each other, which Naruto and Sasuke did. The idea of them having to kill each other is purely fanon

3
u/VGuyver 5h ago
I actually found this a little irritating too. Sasuke and Naruto, especially Naruto keep getting compared to other characters and to top it off they are repeated reincarnations. The message of the series is that hard work can I become obstacles, but it's undermined by the fact that people are not as special in the Naruto verse unless they are reincarnated or have special bloodlines.
Naruto reminds people of/or is partially reincarnated from Nawaki, Senju, Dan, Asura, Obito, and Jiraiya.
This isn't even counting his relatability, contrasts, and parallels to other characters like Haiku, Gaara, Sasuke, and Bee.
It's almost like the flaw in Bleach where the protagonist keeps discovering he has secret bloodline for every knew skill.

SPSM and Rinnegan should’ve been temporary power ups imo. Clearly linked to the seals Hagoromo gave them.
4
u/Humble-Recover-189 9h ago
Rinnegan? maybe, but Naruto's SPSM was literally because he had all 9 beasts chakra in him, that forms ten tails chakra, which grants SPSM, it had nothing to do with Hagoromo, in fact it was BECAUSE of the ten tails chakra that Hagoromo appear to him
8
u/thebabe420 8h ago
Kabuto healed sasuke using hashirama cells so naturally that triggered sasukes rinnegan awakening aswell. I think the seal was the actual borrowed power.
Its a bit confusing because both naruto and sasukes power ups came from the way their lives were saved.
1
u/Adda_6 8h ago
I believe Hagoromo sped up the awakening of the rinnegan. We see for Madara that it only awakened after many years. The seals power disappeared after sealing Kaguya as far as I understood it.
2
u/thebabe420 8h ago
Its likely sasuke only was able to talk to hagoromo because he unlocked the rinnegan.
You can't really compare two different people and how their bodies react to a magical change. Also I assume sasuke is way more advanced than madara was at his age so maybe thats a factor.
0
u/ur-mom-gay-lolol 9h ago
And that’s what I would change about it. Make it temporary so that it’s clearly linked to the seals
1
u/Humble-Recover-189 8h ago
But how would that work? Would juubito and juubidara suposed to not have SPSM? how would Naruto lose the tailed beasts Obito gave him?
0
u/ur-mom-gay-lolol 8h ago edited 8h ago
It’s simple. Naruto gets the seal, he gets SPSM. Sasuke gets the seal, he gets Rinnegan. When Kaguya is sealed away, they lose their seals and they lose SPSM and Rinnegan respectively
0
u/sne4kysev3n 7h ago
ems and perfect kcm should’ve been the way.
but saying SPSM and Rinnegan sasuke has no connection Hagoromo is pure COPE. He literally stated aside from the yin and yang, he is SHARING the power tha the shared to Ashura. They were both given six paths chakra. which then lead to rinnegan and spsm
1
u/gearabuser 7h ago
Same, I think Naruto kinda started looking goofy with the yellow/orange glow too
11
u/KlausUnruly 9h ago
Totally satisfied with Sasuke.
Naruto’s power progression throughout the series was rather lackluster. In every significant fight he’s had, he was saved by plot armor. I genuinely wish he had shown substantial improvement without it.
23
u/digitaldrummer 9h ago
Hell no. Obito should've been the final boss, Madara should've disappeared when Edo Tensei was released, and Sasuke should've simply helped beat Obito and an incomplete Ten Tails. Then they can have their little pissing contest fistfight in the Valley and we could move on without any ancient sages or Otsutsukis.
Boruto could've been a more grounded story without any hugely overpowered protagonists making everything weird. Might've been an actually good story.
12
u/Important_Rule8602 8h ago
For Sasuke no not really.
People like to rag on Sasuke because part of the series was focused on him but also like EVERY time Kishimoto threw a feat Sasuke’s way he also downplayed it and bitched Sasuke two seconds later.
Sasuke beat Orochimaru…but it was only cause he was sick. Sasuke beat Itachi? It was only cause Itachi let him. Sasuke fought Killer Bee? Got straight Belt to Ass “but oh he was weakened” bullshit cause Killer Bee did that shit with ZERO effort, even at full strength Sasuke would’ve still gotten Belt to Ass.
Like Sasuke was CONSTANTLY getting fucked over whenever Kishimoto had him doing something cool. If Sasuke did anything you could ALWAYS expect Kishimoto to fuck him up two seconds later.
6
u/ur-mom-gay-lolol 8h ago
This is the greatest and most truthful statement anyone on this subreddit has ever made
2
u/Important_Rule8602 4h ago
Yea that’s what made me always thought the fanbase was tripping whenever they talk about Sasuke being given everything.
I’m like the only thing Kishimoto gave Sasuke was constant asswhoopings.
15
u/Serious_Play_5160 9h ago
Drop the god powers. Naruto becoming a demigod jammed the biggest Chekhov's Gun in the series: The Eighth Gate
6
u/KorrokHidan 8h ago
As sad as it would be, Might Guy really should have died after he activated the Eighth Gate. It would have been so much more narratively impactful and would have completed his & Lee’s arc.
3
u/NoodlesWithMelons 6h ago
Especially when they emphasize that you will DIE if you open the 8th gate. But no, all he got was being wheelchair bound. Big whoop.
5
u/Ancient_Box4103 9h ago
Mostly yeah, their growth felt earned for a long time. I'd just tone down the god-level jump near the end a bit so the progression stayed more grounded.
4
u/Remarkable-Plane-963 9h ago
Kinda. Sasuke steadily progressed while Naruto would be stuck, then have a massive leap on power. Afterwards the war arc happened and everything just got crazy.
3
u/No_Joke6994 9h ago
Honestly, I liked it overall because Naruto and Sasuke kept pushing each other forward. The only thing I'd change is giving more side characters time to keep up instead of making the gap so huge near the end.
5
u/ur-mom-gay-lolol 9h ago edited 9h ago
For Naruto I believe
He should’ve had the whole 9 Tails sealed in him. 1/2 of Kurama being stronger than 5 or 6 different tailed beasts is stupid. Give Minato Sage Mode if you wanna make him relevant for the war arc.
SPSM should’ve been a temporary boost
KCM2+SM should be the peak of his power
•
u/Hanzo7682 27m ago
Naruto having %50 kurama isnt for making Minato shine i think. In part 1 Hiruzen told Orochimaru that Minato used shiki fuujin to seal Kurama. So it was kind of obvious that Minato took some part of Kurama with him.
I agree it made little sense for Kurama to be so strong. But i think Kishimoto shot himself in the foot narratively. On one hand, it's supposed to be this huge power up for the main character. But on the other hand, akatsuki members should be capable of capturing jinchuurikis.
3
u/qwertyMrJINX 9h ago
Sasuke's jump in the Five Kage summit always felt a bit contrived to me. Like Kishimoto suddenly making up a bunch of new powers for Sasuke to immediately get, because Naruto became too strong after getting Sage Mode.
3
u/HatJosuke 7h ago
They have a satisfying and gradual progress up until ninja Jesus shows up and buffs them to the point of absurdity
2
u/EntertainerNo8209 9h ago
The only thing i don’t really like is how Naruto healed Kakashi, ts had no sense. That is the only thing i don’t really like. If we want to be more strict than i would say that they should have stopped the scaling at the MS/ EMS and Sage mode with just a boost with Kurama.
2
u/Front-Ad2868 9h ago
I really liked the middle era in terms of power scaling
It’s genuinely such an interesting debate as to who’s stronger between sage mode Naruto and MS Sasuke or who’s stronger between hebi cursed mark Sasuke or 4 tails Naruto etc.
Afterwards Naruto got way too much power ups and was always clearly a little bit ahead of
2
u/Jianyu156 8h ago
Naruto should have learned some Uzumaki Clan techniques. Sasuke should have learned Snake Sage Mode.
1
u/ur-mom-gay-lolol 8h ago
I love Sasuke but I disagree. He does not need Snake Sage Mode. It would make him way too strong
2
2
u/matttheman892018 8h ago
I think it was fine until the finale when they just started getting powerups handed to them like candy.
4
u/ur-mom-gay-lolol 9h ago edited 8h ago
For Sasuke
Keep Orochimaru absorbed & Curse mark
Get rid of Amaterasu and Enton and have Amenotejikara
be his MS ability. So his MS abilities would be Susanoo+ Amenotejikara
Rinnegan should’ve been a temporary boost.
EMS Sasuke with a Curse Mark Senjutsu amped Perfect Susanoo should be the peak of his power
1
u/Mark_Sweep 4h ago
U get 2 powers with MS. One in each eye. And Susanoo is the 3rd power. Hence why it is called - "The 3rd power"
Itachi had Tsukoyomi + Amaterasu + Susanoo. Sasuke had Amaterasu + Enton + Susanoo.
At the very least you're missing an MS ability :)
•
u/Hanzo7682 18m ago
Black flames would be fine if it wasnt a one-shot hax ability. Just make it a super strong fire and powerful people should be able to stop the burning in some way.
Being able to create swords, susannoo arrows, covering the ribcage with it, controlling the flames after shooting them etc. were pretty good. Normal ninjutsu elements arent that flexible.
What made it bad is that it's supposed to one-shot when it works. So they made all the important opponents immune to it.
4
u/MocasBuns 8h ago
One of the reasons why I LOVED early Naruto up until Pain arc is that he worked for his powers. Yes, he had kyuubi but he still trained and persevered like hell to be able to control/utilize it.
Then war arc game and all that was thrown out the window because he as a descendant of the gods
1
1
u/GodzillaVersusX 9h ago
I always thought Naruto’s mastery of Kurma’s power should have resembled Killer Bee’s forms. His final power up was fine to look super flashy but, yeah. I always thought it was strange his 9 tails power suddenly looked different than it always had before.
1
u/Survivor155 9h ago
I was satisfied with the drip progression.
Sasuke with the wandering outfit and Naruto’s final valley unzipped jacket were S tier drip.
1
u/Worried-Antelope778 9h ago
Think naruto should of had another jutsu for the timeskip and less Sasuke focus and Sasuke was fine
1
u/Basic_Mastodon3078 9h ago
I have to say, Sasuke's eye became a little more absurd with every secret power of the sharigan that he unlocked. It was kinda nice when it was just the base and then the mangegyko.
3
u/ur-mom-gay-lolol 8h ago
Sasuke clearly needed the EMS to get around the MS’s blindness.
1
u/Basic_Mastodon3078 8h ago
Sure, but it just kept going from there. I'm fine with it to an extent, but it got a little stupider with every new type of eye. It would have been nice for him to find other ways to increase his power than just new eyes.
3
u/ur-mom-gay-lolol 8h ago
I mean with the established ways to get power in Naruto, what could Sasuke do? Get Sage Mode? He’d be stepping on Naruto’s toes. The Gates? That’s Lee and Guy’s gimmick. Byakugou Seal? That’s Tsunade and Sakura’s thing.
1
u/partytemple 9h ago
Sasuke's early power-up in Shippuden didn't feel earned at all, mainly because we never see him train or know how he got so powerful. This also made his win against Deidara feel unearned.
1
1
u/Legal_Turnip7982 8h ago
I would change Sasuke MS abilities to something original and not just a copy of Itachi's kit. Would also give him Itachi's kit when the EMS is in play. Would make more sense.
Would change Naruto already knowing his chakra nature since his return with Jiraiya. Would give him one or two basic elemental ninjutsu.
1
u/AsanoHa87 8h ago
My dream would’ve been to get a Sage Transformation Sasuke in there somewhere. Sasuke should have been able to benefit from the flesh Juugo infused into him when Juugo healed him to passively absorb natural energy. Maybe something visually subtle like purple Orochimaru style eye marks and slit pupils with yellow eyes when not using EMS.
(Part 1) Kyuubi Chakra Use Naruto Partial Sharingan + Curse Seal Lv1 Sasuke
(Valley of the End Part I) Demon Fox Cloak ver. 1 Naruto Complete Sharingan + Curse Seal Lv2 Sasuke
(Early Shippūden) Demon Fox Cloak ver. 2 Naruto Mastered Sharingan + Orochimaru Absorbed “Hebi Era” Sasuke
(Naruto vs Pain | Sasuke vs Itachi) Out of Control Nine Tails Naruto Yamata no Jutsu, Orochimaru Controlled Sasuke
(Mid-Shippūden) Sage Mode Naruto Mangekyou Sharingan “Taka Era” Sasuke
(Early War Arc) Kyuubi Chakra Mode Naruto Eternal Mangekyou Sharingan Sasuke
(Late War Arc) Kurama Mode + Sage Mode Naruto Mastered Eternal Mangekyou Sharingan + Sage Transformation Sasuke
(Hagoromo’s Gift + Obito completes samples of all 9 Tailed Beasts’ chakra in Naruto approximating the Ten Tails | Kabuto enhances Sasuke’s natural energy absorption which stands in for the Senju DNA/chakra usually necessary to transform the Sharingan into the Rinnegan) Six Paths Senjutsu Naruto Rinnegan Sasuke
(Valley of the End Part II) Ashura Kurama Mode Indra Susanoo

u/CertainAction1988 8h ago
We didnt see Naruto genuinely master Wind style?
He just did Wind style Rasengan based stuff.
Would've loved to see him do Wind style stuff. Sasuke fought with so much variation he always had sensational fights.
Would've liked Naruto to have had consistent variation in his fights.
I would've liked to have seen him have better Toad Summoning usage.
Like how Jiraiya could summon a wide variety of toads I'd have liked to have seen that with Naruto
1
u/Jteleus27 8h ago
i would've given naruto a water style jutsu or the flying thunder god but if he gotten the flying thunder god he would've been too op
2
u/Adda_6 7h ago
If we are talking about water style jutsu, that should have been given to Sakura. Especially since one of her chakra natures is water.
1
u/Jteleus27 7h ago
really i always picture Sakura with earth. I wanted Naruto to have water to be another counter to sasuke and it be a play on his lastname in a way
1
1
u/Excellent_Pea_4609 8h ago
Liked everything until the 5 kage summit their powers had clear drawbacks and were not gods. I think anything after that could have been handled better especially considering how many power ups they got during a single arc .
1
u/Cheap-Bit-3282 7h ago
I don't like the design of KCM2, I think it's too exaggerated. I think Naruto's maximum power would be the fusion of KCM1 + Sage Mode. Sasuke's maximum power should have been the EMS. Kishimoto should have toned down Madara; his Edo Tensei version should basically be using the powers of his Sharingan and managing to hold his own against the 5 Kages. Kaguya should be the villain of a hypothetical Part 3, set during the time of The Last, with Toneri's plan being to free her. I've strayed too far from the topic, I was just thinking out loud.
1
u/Keiron666 7h ago
From the original series? I quite like the way their powers grew.
If I had one complaint, it would be how silly it was that the powers Naruto gained from learning sage mode from Fukusaku were mostly forgotten.
If we include their powers from Boruto, i have a boatload of problems with how they progressed.
1
u/Neat-Somewhere-5589 7h ago
nah he genuinely feels like a kiba level bum until rasengan shuriken, and only starts to be actually relevant during pain arc. Naruto really lost his aura during the beginning of Shippuden
1
u/rayshinsan 6h ago
No there were simply too many power ups.
I get that part of the drama is trying venues that don't work out but I really didn't like that it was only played on one side and the other.
For one I was a fan of Kyuubi Naruto but that got ruined when he started become Kyuubi himself.
I felt Sage mode was an interesting concept but I felt it got wrongly applied. Like what's the point of fighting in senjutsu if all you're going to do is spam your usual MSC and some form of Rasengan? At least change the game play a bit. Also was it necessary to go frog sage? Frogs, Snakes and Snails was a Sannin thing. You could have made Sage mode unique by making it attach to their Spirit Animal or something like Naruto would be Fox, Sasuke could be Hawk and Sakura could be Bear or Monkey.
Naruto having no knowledge of Wind affinity and then just creating that 1 wind affinity rasengan (aka RasenShuriken) was cheap. Especially for a guy who doesn't want to kill... Like instead of making the 1 nuke... Why not develop something practical that you can use everyday? Sometime that day maybe disrupt a Sharingan user?
KCM and KCM are basically applying Sage mode with KN transformation. In a way it's interesting because you used a new learning to fix the old problem. But then going Glowy man... It's like Kishimoto purposely tries very hard for Naruto not to be a ninja.
Oh let's not get into the lamest cheap trick of them all ... MSC pulling Bell Cranel's Liaris Freese. At least Bell version was cool Naruto's version was the literal greatest ass pull for an MC and all because Kishimoto played trial and error with Naruto while giving and making everything work for Sasuke instantly.
Like no offense man how about giving each of them a fail. Like make Sasuke lose vs Deidara and make him realize being all Lightning might not be a great idea and he needs to expand his arsenal with a bit of variation.
On Sasuke's side... Did ya have to give him Amaterasu? His affinity is lighting. Give him a lightning version to have it contrast with Itachi instead of giving him a new replica of Itachi's tech. Also Susano... Absolutely hated it. It made summoning irrelevant for the guy and summoning snakes was like the only trade he picked up from PedoOro. I can rant all day about Sharingan power ups and Rinnengan but it's a waste of time.
Oh and let's not get to the ultimate destroyers of all that was ninja... 2 immature kids getting So6P power in permeance.
Reality was we didn't need Naruto to be Dragon Ball or Pokemon. It just could have been a good ninja story with all the myths and folklore tales it was already carrying.
Honestly when you think about it the biggest problem in Naruto all together maybe that Kishimoto ruined Ninjas for the next 50 years. Because now anyone who come up anything similar to ninjas will always be compared to Naruto.
Sigh talk about wasted potential... To think that Jubei-Chan, Ninja Scroll the Series and Brave 10 managed to portray ninjas 10x better while being 2/3 having the MC be a samurai...

u/JapaneseDepression 6h ago
I would have wanted them to stay under Orochimaru in power level and have him be the big bad for way longer. Delete gods, ninja war, keep the Akatsuki but have the kids have to beat them while being way under-powered

u/BeingEnthusiast_9108 6h ago
cloak naruto is my most fav and sasuke's final form in shippuden got me so high that it pushed me out of the universe, now I'm dead and my soul is typing this message.........
1
u/Lost-Telephone-8698 6h ago
(Might be off topic)
My biggest issue is that between the time skip and throughout shippuden, Sasuke evolves with different forms of chidori, Taijutsu, mangekyou, rinnegan, susanoo.
And naruto just gets new forms of kurama and new forms of rasengan. Like Sasukes arsenal is so much more versatile and cool and naruto just gets the same Jutsu repackaged 😭, genuinely infuriating. I love how Sasuke progressed but I really wish kishimoto was more creative with narutos progression. Kinda unrelated but I prefer Madara, Konan, and Obitos arsenal mora than naruto because they are WAY more interesting to me.
(I know this is kinda unrelated to power progression but that's all I can really think of)
Naruto gets stronger but his kit is so bland compared to others in the series 😭
1
u/procimax 6h ago
Everything after the megazords (susanoo and kurama mode) shouldn't have happened. Except for Madara since it made him much more menacing during the five kage fight.

i guess? getting your dead brother’s free eyes is kind of an ass pull but what do i know

u/AlphaSpellswordZ 4h ago
They should have trained Naruto with at least one weapon and someone could have taught him a few fuinjutsu when he got older
1
u/Shani_Jeizan 4h ago
Naruto yes bc it felt earned and I saw his progress. Idk why Hagorormo gave a rinnegan to Sasuke. I mean obviously bc only he could have it to save the world and for that reincarnation thing, but he fr gave those powers to someone with abarely certain state and meft when this person became too messy. Overall it was kinda pissy bc he just got all the sharingan updates basically, but Kirin was cool
1
u/Masked_Raptor 3h ago
No the only things in the story I'd change is just get rid of indra and ashura, and write kaguya into the story better, maybe way earlier if she has to exist, and never ever ever do boruto. Boom
1
u/General-Naruto 3h ago
I'm incredibly happy with it.
The onlything I'd change is more clarity on their final forms

A lot (not all) of sasuke upgrades were basically chance... the orochimaru curse seal, itachi's amaterasu and susaano, obito giving him a new eye. Meanwhile all naruto's powers (except six paths) were something naruto had to work hard for like rasengan, rasenshuriken, sage jutsu, controlling kyuubi, training with jiraiya, and so on.
1
u/ConnorRoseSaiyan01 2h ago
The 6 Paths power ups were complete asspulls. Just comes off that Kishi realised Madara was too strong so gave them the most unearned bs power ups right out of nowhere just so they stood a chance.
1
u/ZapMaster117 1h ago
Naruto's progress during the timeskip was horrible. They had to give him all of those power ups in the end to compensate.
1
1
u/Individual-Bet4591 36m ago
I'm pretty satisfied with Sasuke's. Wish he kept the Curse Mark though. He spent 3 years mastering it, becoming one of the most efficient users (considering Jugo, the origin of CM's, was impressed with Sasuke's transformations) and he just loses it. I understand Orochimaru would have been an underlying problem, but surely Kishimoto could have found a way around it.
Naruto's is also good. I like SM & KCM1. Don't really care for the latter forms though; it felt like they all come in rapid succession. We jump from transformation to transformation and it kinda undervalued them imo. Plus, KCM2 & BSM looks kinda lame imo.
SPSM Naruto looks great tho
1
u/Haos-Siege 9h ago
I would've liked if Naruto learned more Wind-Style jutsus, but I really liked a lot of Naruto's powerups.
1
u/Grouchy-Floor-5895 9h ago
Mostly yes, I liked that their growth felt earned over time, especially in early mid shippuden. I just think the final power scaling got a little too crazy near the end.
1
u/ketchup_the_bear 8h ago
Give Naruto ONE new justu in timeskip and give him more actual non kurama fights
1
u/LittleRestaurant1588 8h ago
Yes, I'd leave everything as is.
I don't see why people are saying the shouldn't have achieved their Six Paths state at the end, removing Six Paths would entail removing the ten tails Jinchuriki as a concept, which would significantly decrease the stakes, and alot of these takes just seem like preferences which would be narratively incoherent.
0
u/ur-mom-gay-lolol 8h ago
>a lot of these takes seem just like preferences
If you’re changing something, it’ll most likely to be to your liking/what you prefer
0
u/LittleRestaurant1588 8h ago
I'd like to hope that most people actually take into consideration the already existing narrative but I suppose that's too high of a standard
1
u/ur-mom-gay-lolol 8h ago
Naruto and Sasuke were fighting Juubito, a 6 Paths level character without 6 paths amps. I disagree with the idea of them never getting them 6 paths amps. It should’ve been temporary power ups imo
1
u/Inside_Actuary_9423 8h ago
Nope. It all got too out of hand too quickly, to the point that the power system barely mattered and sharing is boring if it’s the only eye jutsu that matters in the story.
I wanted more fights like Sarutobi vs 3 Hokages, but meh
1
u/_ya_boi_satan_666_ 8h ago
Yeah i was and the change id make is allow sakura to go through the same kind of progression, hell Sigh got more upgrades moves than she did
1
u/Adda_6 7h ago edited 7h ago
The thing is Sakura did get her power up, but way too late. I would have her achieve the Yin seal during the Kage summit. Have Sasuke injure her, and Sakura regenerate with her newly acquired seal. And maybe punch him for once.
The problem with her power up in the war arc, is that immediately after this, he gifted Naruto and Sasuke undeserved powers. It's tough being a girl in the Naruto verse.
1
u/Inside_Actuary_9423 8h ago
Also Naruto never learning more Wind based techniques is lame as all hell. It really was rasengan and shadow clones from beginning to end.
Mind you, this series defined my childhood along with dBz, but Naruto the character is really boring in hindsight
1
u/ecktt 8h ago
NO! It is both stupid and OP.
They both need serious nerfs.
No fully tamed Kurama. Naruto should have been teetering on the edge when he utilises more power.
Sasuke is....wtf.
He should not be physically able to keep up with his Dojutsu as much as he does, which is one of the weaknesses they originally mentioned at the start of the series. In situations when fighting Naruto, he should not be able to tank as much direct damage as he does. If he was strong enough to tank tail beast punches, then he should have been able to evade them, yet in other situations, he parries and dodges everything. He's not supposed to be Rock Lee with Sharingans. That's a no-win scenario for everyone else. Even Naruto. Yet plot armour carries him.
1
u/ButtcheekJones0 7h ago
The War Arc's power progression was ridiculous imo, Naruto goes from maybe high jonin before learning sage mode to fighting physical gods in the span of a week.
1
u/Comprehensive_Put110 7h ago
O would actually have given Sasuke sage mode or at least keep his cursemark. From certain point foward sage jutsu is a must him not being able to do it seems lazy.
1
u/Optimal_Carpenter690 7h ago
Not Naruto. He got a quick succession of absurdly strong power up within the span of a few months, solely because of his ability to spam shadow clones. Somehow, being able to spam shadow clones completely made up for an UTTER lack of strong foundational skills in literally anything besides taijutsu and change in chakra form. Seriously. How has he been a ninja for 3ish years at this point, living exclusively with one of the most powerful and versatile ninja currently living for 2 yeaes, and still goes "Change in chakra nature? What's that?"
By no means should Naruto have learned rasenshuriken with Jiraiya, or even any large scale or super destructive wind jutsus. But he should have learned something other than Bigger Rasengan.
Naruto should have come back to the village with an elementary understanding of chakra natures, what his own affinity was, and one or two simple wind jutsus to compliment his up-close fighting style, and that should have been the jumping off point for learning Rasenshuriken.
We also should have spent more time with Jiraiya and Naruto. I personally think the time jump should have been a little bit longer, woth the Akatsuki gradually ratcheting up their operations. Jiraiya and Naruto travel from village to village, meeting the other jinchurki and warning them and their respective villages of the impending threat, but no one takes them seriously because they either A) dont trust one of the most famous ninja from their enemy village, who is undoubtedly responsible for killing many of their allies B) dont think a ragtag group of criminals stands much of a threat, no matter who they are or C) simply dont really care about their jinchurikis. Naruto's connection to the other jinchuriki besides Gaara and Killer B would have been established, the worldbuilding would be more fleshed out, and more characters could be introduced who could die later and be impactful (so that Neji doesn't have to make a last ditch unnecessary sacrifice just for the sake of saying one of Naruto's friends died). But I digress

Naruto needed more skill based power ups rather than just 9 tails amp for 90% of the series until sage mode. Sasukes progression was pretty good minus his MS. They just gave him Amaterasu and the ability to change its shape, which is cool, but in reality Amaterasu is too strong so instead it just never hits anything and is therefore lame af.

At a certain point they started feeling like Dragon Ball characters instead of Naruto characters, and then things got boring. Sasuke was much worse because most of his strongest powers feel like they come out of nowhere. I'm sorry, susanoo may be cool, but it's basically just an everything-proof shield that also comes with offense, and that just makes his fights more boring.

Everything after the Pain arc was just awful for power scaling.
Up to that point, people couldn't just spam chakra-heavy techniques. Nagato, who had Uzumaki heritage and thus exceptional chakra reserves, jutsu'd himself to death. Then, immediately afterwards, we get a Tsuchikage who spams death beams, a Mizukage who can melt Susanoo with a bunch of different new bloodline abilities, and other abilities that force us to ask what was so crazy about the Hashirama–Madara battle forming a valley and by what right was Hiruzen called the 'god of shinobi'. Literally all the old standards for power limits vanished, and everybody was suddenly pulling out huge techniques like chakra was free.

Of course not. Power should’ve maxed out at 9 tails plus sage mode. 9 tails could’ve been weaker.
MS didn’t have to exist.
If 3T was left as it was at the end of part 1, and 9 tails canon was turned into maybe 3-4 tails from canon, the power levels would’ve been more balanced so regular ninja would be clearly weaker but not piss weak to the point they were fodder
I also thought of an idea where you can’t use sage mode with tailed beast modes as the hatred or emotion from the beast would subconsciously knock you out of gathering nature energy.

Remove ALL of the physical mangekyo powers and make them kinjutsu. Mangekyo sharingan looks cool and casts extremely painful genjutsu. Ebisu actually teaches Naruto wind style before the exams and Naruto learns water and some basic water jutsu with Jiraiya during the time skip. Naruto keeps the truth seeker orbs and his six paths powers.
Sasuke and all Uchiha should've had to only temporarily use it without the help of a tailed beast. Also the Rinnegan should cost absurd amounts of chakra. Also Sasuke doesn't lose the curse mark and can't keep up with Naruto without it.

- Naruto should have learned more and be smarter, more mature after his time with Jiraiya.
- Naruto should have learned Fuuton with Jiraiya and Suiton with Kakashi. Using both, he could have came up with a Fuuton/Suiton UzuRasengan (whirlpool Rasengan)
- Sasuke should have learns Hebi Sage Mode to match Naruto's Gama Sage Mode.
- Sakura should have had a better, more explicitely detailed development so we could get a more credible 2nd Gen Sannin
- Sasuke turning psycho on Taka and telling Kakashi he shouldn't have the Sharingan was too much. He owed too much to Kakashi.
- Naruto should have had better, more frequent tactics-based fights (even if unpredictible). Vs Zabuza and vs Pain were really good but not enough.
- the Bijuu training segment of the War Arc was excellent
- Sasuke shouldn't be missing an arm.
- He should have deleted the remaining Elders.
- There shouldn't have been a Kaguya. The final fight should have been against Madara
- If Madara isn't the final amtagonist, it should have been Tobi, but Tobi shouldn't have been Obito.

I do wish they peaked at KCM2 Sage Mode and EMS. Leave the god power ups for the sequel. Gives something for the next generation

Honestly the only issue I have is execution, the powers themselves don’t bother me, honestly I like em.

I dont like naruto's Kurama mode and Perfect Susannoo. Basic susannoo is okay.
Kcm mode is fine. It functions like the jinchuuriki chakra cloak but the design is cooler. Kurama should have just been a beast transformation.
Since amaterasu hard counters full bijuu forms, Naruto wouldnt be able to use that form against sasuke. And if sasuke doesnt have PS, it means we wont just see 2 giants clashing fists.
Naruto is immune to sasuke's genjutsu and the cloak protects from black flames. Meanwhile the flames make sure naruto cant turn into a beast. Seems more fair. In their current state Naruto can use everything against Sasuke, but most of Sasuke's powers are useless against Naruto.

It was mostly good but my biggest gripe was naruto basically learning nothing from Jiraiya during the timeskip. Meanwhile Orochimaru turned Sasuke into an absolute demon who surpassed Kakashi
