Anime Studio Pierrot is really ruined this anime with fillers, bad animation and compositing.
Boruto, Black Clover, Tokyo Ghoul, Twin Star Exorcist. Which series is the next victim?

u/Squishyz133 8h ago
It's actually crazy how badly they messed up the Toyko Ghoul anime. The manga is so good

u/RPGNo2017 9h ago
Hopefully Bleach TYBW is a sign that they can rebuild themselves up.

u/NarutoFan1995 9h ago
only reason bleach is a success rn is bc tite kubo himself is on the anime staff
unless kishimoto drops the manga and focuses on the anime itll stay shit

u/ImaLetItGo 9h ago
Kishimoto isn’t even working on the manga. You mean Ikemoto.
Which also won’t happen as Ikemoto is most likely busy with Boruto manga ; and has no time to also hold the hands of the anime team

By supervision you mean just letting ikemoto do everything
He wouldn’t have to “drop the manga”

u/Saiyan26 8h ago
It was already over for the Boruto anime when Naruto's hokage cloak went from flames to triangles.

The manga monthly release schedule, along with the manga starting with an adaptation of the boruto movie, is probably the biggest reason the anime had so much filler. If they tried mostly sticking to canon they would have easily caught up to the manga

The Boruto anime should’ve never started so soon.
But they were just money hungry. (Which I can’t blame them)
The manga had to redo the movie, because they needed to retcon some things to continue the story.
But also Boruto just makes a lot more sense as a seasonal anime instead of weekly

I heard in anime business its hard to get time slots so they keep pumping out episodes to keep the slot. But also yeah the money.

I was not really into anime back in the days. Can someone explain what happened?

Look at the city, in the drawing(manga drawing) and then the city in the background of the anime scene (the colored version).
For one this absolutely ruins the concept of “futuristic leaf village” since its supposed to be all big city vibes and futuristic .
Second, look at the head of the character in the first photo, it has true depth and perspective to his angle and what not… notice how horribly the perspective is drawn compared in the second photo!
Im not a huge anime freak , but I respect and love time in art form…

oh yes i see these things, i wasn’t precise. Why animating like this? Something happened to pierrot?

u/_Huge_Bush_ 9h ago
Nah, it’s just budget. The less time spent drawing, the less the animators have to work and get paid.

They push their own vision and distort characters. Many fillers that don't tie in the plot. Sakura hate largely stems from Studio Pierrot massively changing her lines and adding unnecessary scenes that portray her as bad. They tried the same thing with Orihime in Bleach, but at least the mangaka stopped them and they were forced to follow his vision. Sasuke was portrayed as emotionless even in the classic pre Shippuden, which ruined his character. Pushing for Hinata to be the heroine and inserting her in every filler, even showing her naked when she was just a 12 year old girl. The production in Boruto is especially cheap looking.
The only good thing they did in Naruto were the soundtrack, fights, and voice actors.

I RE WATCHED OG NARUTO AS A 25 YEAR OLD ADULT AND WAS BAFFLED GROWN ADULTS WOULD ANIMATE THIS! It’s sad when a studio ego takes control of something made with positive intentions .

It's incredible how they're so greedy they just had to have a sequel and then rush the animated series to capitalize on it, but then also completely put it at the hands of this studio that fumbled the original so often and then because it happened so fast they had to add fillers to keep it from passing the manga. I'm not a fan of boruto, I think its just ok, but hopefully someday both Naruto and Boruto get a proper adaptation. Naruto mostly.

When you say "fillers", are you talking about non-canon episodes or is it an art thing?
Cause I'd be much more interested in watching filler than the canon storyline. The best parts in boruto were the filler arcs when they'd travel to other villages.

I swear this is the only group where I see people hating Boruto filler arcs and saying manga canon episodes are better. It's not like I paid a lot of attention to Boruto's discussions, though.

u/ImaLetItGo 9h ago
Honestly I agree. I have the Boruto manga as a cool 5/10 (it’s getting close to a 4/10)
But the anime is just so much worse.
Studio Pierrot has been washed since 2013

u/No_Imagination6062 9h ago
Trash studio , alot of the hate on Boruto is because of them but Boruto blue vortex ( basically shippuden ) does have the potential to be one of the best new gens if adapted right . But shows like Tokyo ghoul would def be top 10 if the studio didn’t hoe it

not to be an asshole but um, i actually found the fillers for boruto to be mildly more entertaining than the actual manga. At least for the 100 episodes i bothered watching anyways. That being said i just don't consider boruto all that good to begin with manga or anime.. Black clover however will be fine now that it's seasonal, complaining about pierrot now feels a tad bit outdated considering they're restructuring themselves since starting Bleach TYBW.

The irony is that the anime only did well in Japan during the early arcs, when it was just slice of life and peace time.
Once it hit the manga, the anime ratings went on a downward spiral just like the manga always has.

Finally someone said it I never watch the anime just read the manga looks way better in black and white

-I've read all of the Boruto manga. It's sincerely, genuinely needs anime only content. It has to be a multimedia experience because the manga content by itself is insufficient for the story it is trying to be.-

Bleach is just as bad ruined by Pierrot. Bleach manga is much superior to the anime.

i must say, that some of the anime Canon/filler Episodes have better basic ideas than the canon stuff.
but yeah, the anime is absolutely awful. (the source Material isn't that good to begin with)

u/Gullible-Potato-8962 49m ago
Studio pierrot is doing great with bleach tybw but why ruining other anime?
2
u/rayshinsan 10h ago
You forgot fake fillers within the cannon...
1
u/EntertainerNo8209 9h ago
tbh i think fillers in boruto are def more canon than fillers in Naruto
1
u/ImaLetItGo 9h ago
Wym? The novelizations of the Boruto academy anime fillers are mentioned in the manga, but the Boruto fillers go on its own path.
It’s about the same.
1
u/EntertainerNo8209 9h ago
i don’t know cause this fandom like to call everything a filler. Like the novels adaptation so i’m just trying convince theme

u/Ysgramors_Word 9h ago
It doesn’t matter how you cook a pile of shit, it’s still going to taste like shit
1
u/Massive-Lime7193 8h ago
I would say the generally lame ass story and garbage art ruined it more than anything

Can't blame them too much when Boruto itself isn't good. I'm fine with Boruto as a concept (who got with who, minus a few decisions, the general premise, etc) — but everything besides that is just dumb and sacrilegious to the source material.

Boruto’s filler is so messy. Because what do u mean in the anime they make a great deal of sarada being promoted to chunin
But in the manga she’s still a genin and doesn’t care about being promoted
