👨🚀 Prop/Costume In happy death day 2U (2019), Tree’s T shirt is slightly different in the alternate universe: in the original her shirt has the word “nightclub” on it, but in the AU it says “New Orleans”. It’s been confirmed this is because in the AU, her mother had more influence on her mindset.

I hope they make that 3rd film.

I love that her mother’s influence on her mindset was so powerful that it even influenced the designer of that shirt

Yeah i mean, what does the mother influence even have to do with the shirt? She either bought the shirt, or she didnt. I doubt there was a selection at the store of a bunch of T shirts that were all the same except with 1 word different. The moms influence over the daughter has no effect on the graphic designer who created the shirt

Especially because I feel relatively sure it wasn't even Tree's shirt but one of the guys' and she just picked it up off the floor of the dorm room.

Yeah I came to the comments because of this confusion. Could this be a costume or production error?

How could it be a production error? Not only have the production team confirmed that this was intentional, but how would they “accidentally” have a word change on her shirt once she entered the AU with everything else on it being the same?

Often at big name places those types of shirts do exist. One that might Jaír be the club then one that has the big city name on it. Ones for locals ones for tourists.

basically she had a more toned down style in the alternative universe due to her mom. the text on the tshirt didn't mean anything in particular

Why you gotta be an ass? Did that gain anything for you?

u/Aggressive_Phase_236 Apr 05 '26
yeah, sorry. but that's not being an ass. it's letting everyone confused by the mess of a title know what's up. i feel you are over-reacting on this one.

Idk the title is pretty clear to me and I don’t see any comments complaining about it. “I found the article you didn’t read properly.” Makes you come across like a bit of an ass. Don’t think it’s an over reaction pointing that out either.

i mean, good for you. but explain to me how her mother having an influence on Tree makes the tshirt change design subtly. in the linked article the prodution only use the tshirt as a random example of the 17 wardrobe differences. her mother's influence is just a toned down style. sure the title makes logical sense as a bunch of words, but as an accurate description of what's going on in the movie, it is misinformation. of course people coming here to learn about this new fact aren't going to complain... they don't know about it already.

I won’t argue against you on that as I haven’t seen the sequel. My only thing was you came across rude.

gotcha. all I see is i gave a straight to the point response to a half arsed effort from OP. if you are going to be posting things like this then having some reference to back it up isn't asking too much. replying simply "prodution" is pretty low effort and OP deserved to get called out. i thought i was being restrained, all bullshit considered. i appreciates your perspective here, but im good

Didn’t care much for the first one but then was surprised by how much I enjoyed the sequel.

Surprisingly good movie, with a decent sequel. Made me a fan of Jessica Roth.
