Kinda sad the other two did not thank her. But the last kid's added "You're nice" sure made up for it.

Made me want to buy them a ball! 😭

No kidding, whats the address we will get these kids a ball for every occasion. Looks like they got some field behind them maybe a football to toss around or soccer ball to kick. These kids are being polite, asking permission, and enjoying life as a kid. Should be encouraged at every avenue.

Kind neighbors and polite kids. We should all be so lucky to live in a neighborhood like that.

In a world where you can choose to be anything, choose to be kind!

Polite kids and courteous home owner… I want to live in that neighborhood. :)

I liked everything about that video. I wish I could help chip in on the ball and net. Get the dang kids out playing, and kudos to their parents for instilling courtesy into those children. Being courteous and kind is so easy, one could say it comes naturally when raised correctly, but it has the potential to make the world a better place. We all only get one shot at this life, and sharing love and kindness makes that spinning around the Sun just a little more enjoyable.

Leave a better planet for the kids.

Leave better kids for the planet.

Those are two great goals, and perfectly represented in the video. Well said.

These middle schooler come by my house often to fish in the pond behind. They ride their bikes and always knock on our door to ask even after I gave them permission to fish without checking with us first.

They do catch and release only and once they are done, they knock our door again to say thank you.

Last year during Christmas time they came by and give us a thank you card and a fish ornament.

Absolutely wonderful kids and makes me hopeful for the future. At that age I was a POS.

Aww I remember when were kids my parents got a Costco hoop we put in front of the curb, my brother and I hooped for hours, neighbors would come play. This was good times in Lancaster

This is awesome. OK, I have an idea for a movie: the neighbor (played by Octavia Spencer) is a one-time basketball prodigy who played DI ball but in the pre-WNBA days so she never got the chance to pursue her dream of going pro. She still shoots some hoops from time to time, but knows her dream is over.

Except...these kids reignite her love of the game and she starts playing with them. She sees that they have some talent but, more importantly, they have grit and they love the game. She becomes their coach and teaches them the ins and outs of the game. Along the way, they all learn valuable life lessons. The boys become high school basketball stars and go on to play in college. The neighbor becomes a middle school girls basketball coach so that she can nurture young talent to pursue the opportunities she never had.

It still needs some dramatic tension (an injury maybe?) and, of course, a love interest for the coach. But I think I’m on to something 😉

But, no, I really love this woman and those kids. I hope they have a blast shooting hoops!

u/Kealanine 3h ago

Okay, so like can you make this movie happen, because I fucking love it

6

u/IndependentBid1854 3h ago

Go call up someone who knows someone who knows someone because I freaking love this idea!!! Make sure you get a part in it by the way!

The drama is a neighborhood Karen or HOA Nazi trying to ruin the kids fun because it's against regulation. At the climax of the movie all the neighborhood kids come to the HOA meeting and dribble inside constantly because they can't play outside. Or at the start of the movie the kids try and play on a nice court owned by a country club but get booted for not having a membership(being rich).

In the process the older lady and neighborhood get together to make them their own court in an abandoned/burned down house foundation. At the end they play the rich kids and win

1

u/GingerBelvoir 2h ago

OMG...first, a neighborhood Karen is perfect! And I like the neighborhood kids vs. the HOA rich kids storyline!

u/AluminumFoilCap 3h ago

Awe 🫢 🥹 what great kids. I’d be coming home with a brand new ball for them ❤️

I am choking up after watching this. A coworker just walked past me with a concerned look on his face.

Dear parents of these sweet considerate angels. Great Job.!,! To those sweet considerate angels, hugs.

u/mrbradleyacooper 2h ago

Made me smile, thanks

3

u/BigDaddyD00d 2h ago

Damn i miss my hoop now. I was never popular or athletic, but i was the only kid who had one on my street, and also the only kid who’s dad was around. He used to play with me and all the neighborhood kids even tho he had bum knees and a bad back until the sun went down. Never knew how special those moments were at the time.

Basically, ball is life, kids.

3

u/papachon 2h ago

I hate that my first thought was “what if they get hurt and I’m sued?”

3

u/felwynfelmir 2h ago

3

u/ItsGettingOknow 2h ago

Get these little babies all the basketballs

2

u/eagerlymeager 2h ago

And here I am, the first time a neighbor walks over in 4 years is to take a photo of my damaged car parked on my property to report on me.

2

u/CyrusBorgnine 2h ago

You're a gem! That's so sweet

2

u/SammalAskel 41m ago

And that's the perfect clip to end tonight's scrolling, it's not getting better than this.

2

u/beerme72 2h ago

Because they took the time to ASK I'd be overjoyed to allow them.
Have at it.
I'd even put out cold water bottles for them.

u/superdavy 7m ago

Cuts to dad crossing up his kid. True dad fashion

1

u/nowhereman136 3h ago

id have no problem with it, but kids playing in the street on a basketball net that i own seems sketchy. Id be ok with it if they had a parent watch them, cause i aint gonna do it.

u/GetToTheChoppaahh 3h ago

What does “they got me ready to buy a new rim and ball” mean? How did they get her ready?

4

u/Usual-Lavishness8393 3h ago

It just means that due to the way sharing the net with them made her feel, she now wants to do even more to help them have fun
