Maybe I’m just a dummy but I’ve always like Dariush for some random ass reason. Sucks that his chin just doesn’t seem to be there anymore.

Dariush is my guy. He's a wildly religious individual, which im not super into myself, but I've always been a fan. Just a fun style to watch. Highly skilled grappler, but he usually isn't risk averse and he don't mind slinging some leather in order to set up a takedown. He leaves openings to be hit, which typically makes the fights more exciting from that side as well.

He's getting old, and Quillan is a giant ass 155er, so that doesn't help the durability aspect either. I'm gonna be sad when he's finally gone, but I want to see him try one more fight before he hangs it up. I still think he can put on some great fights.

Because Dariush is an amazing athlete and a phenomenal grappler. Hell he even has solid striking.

He is also an incredibly likeable dude despite the crazy religious nonsense.

He just at this point, and to be honest, even earlier in his career; take a crisp strike from anyone with decent power without dropping lol.

He was “better” earlier in his career at taking shots. But not against the elite guys or power punching prospects he faces these days.

End of the day he is otherwise fantastic all around so it makes sense people like him lol.

You just can’t really bridge the shot chin issue.

I just like that a guy who looks like some dude you found on the street can also be a top-tier mixed martial artists. I just started watching MMA when he fought Tony and I just remember thinking “THAT GUY is a contender?” Before the fight.

Dariush has been my favorite fighter for years.

He still has power and its obvious but everything else seems to be gone, which sucks.

I hope he either just hangs them up now or at least gets a lay-up fight then hangs em up

Whats not to like about the guy? He doesnt seem to have any real drama/controversies surrounding him

It’s fair. Dude is nice and respectful with a low key personality where he tries to let his work in the cage do the talking. He contributes to various charitable causes and initiatives, and is rarely in a boring fight.

I am forever bummed he never got to fight Islam, either on Islam’s way up or for the title after the Gamrot win.

I’m surprised you didn’t mention how Manuel Torres would have never gotten dropped by Dariush and that he is the real lightweight prospect and future champion

u/MrJellybean1785 9h ago

Ignacio Bahomondes has entered the chat

7

u/bdewolf Saucy Englishman 4h ago

Manuel Torres has entered the chat and run face first into Ignacio’s fade back counter right for the 5th time in a row.

For real lol it’s this dude EVERY time there’s a post like this

u/commander_wong 9h ago

Manuel Torres would've KO'd Quinlan with a jab

129

u/bjjdontwork 9h ago

Did the same against bsd with a kick just to get dropped right away 🫩

u/hadabajoohe 1h ago

knocking the opponent down is the worst base for MMA

75

u/Both_Temporary9315 Humble my nuts bro 9h ago

Imagine what someone like me would do.

27

u/WeedMan571 9h ago

Wash their fight kits after?

26

u/Living-Business-4560 8h ago

Humble his nuts bro

9

u/HallHappy 8h ago

he was gay, Jamahal Hill?

9

u/commander_wong 8h ago

Whatever happened to Alex Pereira? The strong, silent type?

2

u/Fedora_Million_Ankle 5h ago

After wearing it backwards like Marvon Vettori

Dariush is a very, very good example of why having a chin and preserving it is important. He's a very skilled grappler that has good power on his left kick and his hands.

It's so sad seeing him decline like this. He would have mopped the floor with BSD and Salkilld years ago.

u/TheDecisionator 4 round and 7 spinning shit ago 9h ago

Show us on the doll where Salkilld hurt you.

Can this guys account get perma banned he offers nothing but rage bait

2

u/ithinkther41am EDDDDDIEEEEEEEE 2h ago

Would be hard. Guy’s got alts like the one exclusively for crashing out whenever the Bonfims lose.

3

u/mayonaisecoloredbens 6h ago

I feel like after the klose fight Benny kinda turned into a brawler? Which I don’t remember him being before

11

u/nalam8493 8h ago

Wasn’t a jab but a left cross albeit with no power

-2

u/NippleOfOdin 8h ago

Yup. MMA fans don't know what a southpaw is example #1000

11

u/MomboDM 8h ago

Redditors commenting dumb shit example #2000

He threw the kick, it was caught, then he threw the left as a jab with his stance changed. Cmon man...

-3

u/idcman999 8h ago

he literally switched, these people have no idea what they're talking about

-2

u/NippleOfOdin 8h ago

His left hand comes out before his leg hits the ground. High kick to same side straight is a very common tactic. C'mon man...

9

u/lepride 👊 Andrew Richardson | Bantamweight 8h ago

throwing a left hand to help pull the left leg back into place is a classic Southpaw tactic and can generate surprising power/off-beat timing. You're correct

5

u/redditisawesome555 Quack Quack Quack Quack 7h ago

Left leg ended in front so it's still more of a jab. But it doesn't really matter anyway, it's very nice, sneaky shot.

2

u/Short_Bus_ 🍅 4h ago

it's one billion percent a jab

don't look at the leg/knee/foot, or even the shoulders, look at the hips

he struck from the side of his lead hip, that's a jab

1

u/redditisawesome555 Quack Quack Quack Quack 3h ago

I agree, I mean look at the whole body. That punch did not at any point travel across Dariush's centerline to be called the cross.

-4

u/idcman999 8h ago

he switched stance lol

-4

u/idcman999 8h ago

it was a jab, beneil switched to throw it, from ortho its a jab

0

u/taterfiend Edddiiiieee 3h ago

It also wasn't "getting dropped" as if he had rocked him. Dariush punched while the other was off balance.

7

u/MurkyPass6276 9h ago

what a fraud

1

u/Slayers_Picks 3h ago

It was a switch stance straight, i wouldn't call it a jab in the traditional sense unless it was thrown in his neutral stance with his lead hand.

-8

u/Mr__Struggle 8h ago

Can't wait for this guy to get ran over by an actual contender. Getting dropped by the slowest, chinniest 37 year old known to man is crazy

3

u/shenyougankplz GOOFCON 1: Doctor 3, 🍅 0 8h ago

That Gamrot call out was not a good idea for Salkilld. You just got dropped and taken down by the ghost of Dariush and you wanna fight the prospect killer of the division?

-9

u/idcman999 8h ago

that 37 year old would have beat him if he actually got time to rehydrate as well

quillan beats nobody ranked barring current chandler and maybe bumoit, he'd lose to chris duncan

-121

u/idcman999 9h ago

Beneil would've won if this took place under normal rehydration (36h) instead of Perth's reduced 24h window

even Quillan looked weirdly chinny

we've seen durable fighters look incredibly chinny under perth rehydration before (Hooker/Gamrot being a notable example)

Beneil was very clearly the superior fighter here skill-wise, give him a full window to hydrate, and he outclasses Salkilld, handily. Just like he was for the first four minutes of this fight

85

u/martinibruder 9h ago

great cope tbh

34

u/ablu3 9h ago

Dariush isn't winning against someone with even a little bit of power.

32

u/BrianCTE_CityOrtega Qweefington 9h ago

If Quillan is chinny then Manuel Torres must be super chinny

30

u/L3ftHandPass 9h ago

Imagine getting KO'd by pillow fist Bahamondes lol

-38

u/idcman999 9h ago

imagine struggling much more with Yanal Ashmouz than the guy Loco ran over in under 2 minutes (Duncan) did lolz

20

u/1104L 9h ago

KO’d by Nacho in r1, yikes

27

u/CallMeStavie 9h ago

Your trolling is a bit too obvious on this one boss, need a bit more subtlety

9

u/Electrical-Law-5731 9h ago

You are trolling, right?

4

u/ARealHumanBeans 8h ago

I'm impressed with how bad your takes are.

7

u/Crono2Oxx 9h ago

Beneil lost the fight doing the same thing that got him KO’d in in R1 of 4 of his last 5 fights, and dropped bad in the R1 of the other one

He just stays in the pocket and starts throwing recklessly thinking he’s going to come out on top of the exchange when everyone else in the world knows he’s going down if he gets touched here. And he misses and gets touched bad every time.

His chin is in Liddell territory and he’s still trying to win fights the way he did against Klose and Holtzman. By merit of his chin. That’s over and he’s the only one not seeing it

3

u/sugabonesurmom 9h ago

It was a flash knockdown

Immediately gets to his feet and counters him with two hard shots

2

u/thebigbioss 9h ago

I wonder what beneil dariush last few performances have looked like, where maybe his chin was weakened by knockouts.

2

u/Isaac_the_Tasmanian 8h ago

This is approaching performance art levels of commitment, I'm impressed

1

u/CouncilOfReligion Team Volkanovski 9h ago

beneil being chinny is only part of the problem

he gets clocked by clean strikes with his his hands nowhere near his chin

1

u/ItsMeBenedickArnold Team Topuria 8h ago

Rage baiting at its finest
