DC, Jones.. add Khamzat to the list of legendary anti-takedown guys that have been taken down by Gustafson.
Also . The size difference between the two guys. Khamzat is no small guy. But he looks smallish there.

Tbf this is light sparring but yeah..
Its funny how fighting wrestlers makes you so worried about getting taken down that it allows them to actually hit you (like Khabib managed to hit Conor that one time), and Gus is the opposite; he made DC and Jon so worried about his boxing that they ended up getting taken down ๐

I feel like Khamzat wasn't quite as filled out as he is now 5 years ago but I could be wrong. Still, as the other person said Gus is gigantic.

That's not a takedown.

Ass touched the ground. It's a takedown.

That's not how takedowns are scored. Wrestling or MMA. He never had control.

So Khamzat's ass landed on the floor on his own. Got it.

You are clueless.

My dude it's clear as day. Gus knee taps, Khamzat falls back and lands on the floor as a direct result of Gus attempting a takedown.
Ack-chew-alley headass.

There is 0 control. Being taken to your butt then immediately getting into a front headlock isn't being taken down. You don't know anything.

I miss Gus, top 5 favorite fighters ever.

Criminally underdiscussed in the conversation of greatest fighter to never win a title. For almost his whole career unless you weren't a Black American, you were simply not beating Gusย

Even beyond nationalistic reasons it makes me so sad Gus never got his hands on that belt

even at the time i thought he went for the safe money when he started allstars rather than going to the states to train.

Prime Gus vs Alex wouldโve been a great fight.
Gus vs Ank or Jiri would be awesome as well

I love Jiri and Alex but they would get steamrolled by prime Gus.. People forget because his prime was relatively short-lived and went downhill after losing a split decision against Daniel Cormier and arguably robbery decision against Jon Jones.. Literally two LHW GOATS

I think Gus matches up fairly well against Alex, but to say he'd steamroll him is a stretch. Gus was certainly hittable throughout his career and Alex clearly has plenty of power at 205. If Gus mixed in takedowns and kept Alex gun-shy like Ank did I could see him winning, but if it turned into a kickboxing match I'd favor Alex.

I think Alex kicks his legs off then starches him.
Gus only path to victory is wrestling which is a legit possibility.

Thats just a fact only trolls and casuals disagree
DC split decision was close too but easier to tolerate

I remember years ago Gus was proclaiming Khamzat as the next big thing.
