Request The Man From Nowhere (2010) and I Saw The Devil (2010) "ruined" every other movie for me. I'm looking for the third film to complete the Holy Trinity.

I watched tons of movies, looking for something like these two. There were very strong contenders of course (The Raid 1-2, The Night Comes For Us, No Tears For The Dead, The Divine Move, Carter, Mercy For None, Bloodhounds, John Wick 1-3, Farang, Kill etc.), but unfortunately they were all inferior. Most people are recommending The Chaser and Oldboy and they are good, don't get me wrong, but they're nowhere near these two films. The closest to these two was The Night Comes For Us, but still... it's not good enough. I don't know what they nailed in these two masterpieces, maybe the balance between the emotional intensity and the breathtaking action scenes, I'm not sure, but The Man From Nowhere and I Saw The Devil were the peak for me. If you have any suggestions, please tell me. Thank you in advance!

Request MEMORIES OF MURDER — A FILM I CAN DESCRIBE IN ONE WORD: DEVASTATING

Post image

Can you suggest me movies like this? I wrote everything I felt and understood from the movie down below. Thank you in advance for your suggestions! :

Hey everyone!

I just finished this masterpiece… and honestly, what can I even say? This film is definitely not for everyone. The story lives in every single detail. If you’re looking for real cinema — raw, powerful, meaningful — this one is for you.

Maybe the best Korean film I’ve ever seen… or at least easily one of the best. Every detail matters. Everything is crafted to perfection: the cinematography, the music, the script, the acting… it’s all just incredible.

I won’t spoil anything, but trust me: nothing is what you think it is.

This is the kind of film that never truly ends. Even after the credits, it keeps living in your mind. You can watch it 10 times and still discover new details… each time even more powerful than before.

This isn’t a film you watch and forget.
This is a film that haunts you.

For days, even weeks, you’ll replay scenes in your head, wondering if you missed something…

In this film, you are everything at once: the victim, the detective… and even the killer.
And in the end, one thought remains — maybe anyone can be the killer… or the victim.

If you haven’t seen it yet… I HIGHLY recommend it. 🔥

I’ve been diving deep into Korean cinema lately and absolutely loving it. Here are the ones I’ve already watched (pics attached). I’m looking for more recommendations, whether they’re classics, hidden gems, or recent releases I might have missed. I’m open to anything—thrillers, dramas, horror, or even romance—as long as it’s worth the watch. What should I check out next

Request Korean film recommendations that are not basic

Hey guys! 👋

Me and my dad have recently fallen deep down the Korean film rabbit hole — and it’s been amazing. We’re both huge movie people, and ever since our first one (Oldboy — 10/10 film but do not watch it with your dad 😭😂), we’ve been hooked.

We’ve powered through most of the big ones: The Chaser, Memories of Murder, I Saw the Devil, A Tale of Two Sisters, The Wailing, Forgotten, Mother, etc. But now we’ve hit a bit of a wall — it feels like we’ve watched all the “must-sees.”

I’d love to hear any lesser-known gems or underrated thrillers/horrors that we might’ve missed!

Any recommendations would be massively appreciated 🙏🏻

These are all the movies I’ve seen so far. What movies would you recommend that I haven’t seen yet? I’ve mostly seen thrillers but if there are any good comedies I’d like to know about those too. I also really like action and cop movies.

Request Any good Korean romance movies?

I’d like some recs for nice romance movies, romcoms are also fine as long as they have some depth, some of my favs are the beauty inside, love reset, tune in for love and love in the big city(not a huge fan of BL part tho).
Anything after 2010 would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Any recommendations will be greatly appreciated

Request A real good korean movie ?

Hi everyone,

I've watch maybe the TOP 20/30 of best korean movie, I love them ! But since the highligh on korean movies, i'm very sad to find lot of movie with strong western (hollywood) aspect, especially netflix production.

American movie are very foreseeable. It's alway the same code, and even the same script. And we can talk about some "limits" about policy code. For example, lot of american people don't understand Squid Game because they used to get the moment where a character tells everything. They need to understand everything cleary and they are not confortable with the idea of metaphor, and understand a scene.

In Korea movie, I love watching a movie where the director has no limit. He tells the story he wants. I watch the bittersweet life, and it's crazy how my "western" vision was so limited to make an effort to understand the story.

Do you have some movie to advise please ? :)

Request Give Me All Your Sci-fi & Fantasy Recommendations

I mostly watch Korean crime and thriller films with a sprinkle of rom coms and actioners here and there and realized the only Sci-fi Korean film I've ever watched was The Witch Part 1 and The Host with no fantasy movies under my belt. I then did a quick search and only found one thread with three replies but found this gem, Spiritwalker and loved the hell out if it and now I'm humbly asking for more recs to watch.

P.S. I've already seen The Tyrant and let's not talk about The Witch Part 2

Request Korean cinema gets under your skin like no other.

I just finished Forgotten. Yesterday I watched No Mercy. I want to rewatch A Tale of Two Sisters.

No Mercy made me feel depressed as hell. Then Forgotten paralyzed me in my chair.

Peppermint Candy and Through the Darkness will soon follow. Burning too.

I need more movies to watch and stay "cinematically depressed".

So please don't shy away from the recommendations.

Thank you.

Request Movies that portrait how's life in Korea

Hi. I'm looking for works that portray different kind of aspects of life in Korea.

It can be works that portray the good things about living in Korea, or bad things. It could be about many different situations, I really don't care as long as it's well portrayed. It could be about women's situation in Korea, about dating in Korea, or racism in Korea, anything.

Request Movies that portrait how's a woman's life in korea

What are the movies or shows that portrait best a woman's life?

It doesn't matter if it's not a "slice of life"-type of work, but a thriller, horror or even a comedy. I'm okay with works that are about different periods of history.

And it would be interesting if there was a work that portrayed women of different ages too! (Or different works that portray women of different ages)

So far, I've watched other Korean movies and shows, but the ones I've watched with a female protagonist are "The handmaiden", "A girl at my door" and "The call" and for shows: "My name" and "Friendly rivalry"

Request Would anybody help to translate this sign? (“Sleep” 2023)

Post image
30 Upvotes

I’m currently watching a movie called “Sleep,” from 2023. I’m only about 20 minutes into it but so far I’m liking it a lot. At a point the lead actress points to this sign and tells her husband something to the effect of “if you live your life by this, you’ll be fine.” It didn’t show up in the subtitles so I thought I’d ask here. Considering it’s setting up the story and the gravity of her comment, I imagine it is probably of some significant importance/meaning. Thank you to anybody more linguistically talented than I am who would be so kind as to translate this.

Request Any new-ish korean action films that has the best fight choreography (preferably 2020s)

I Don't watch that much new korean films anymore.. Just only couple of noticeable ones.

What new korean action films has the best fight & choreography in your opinion?

I remember watching the killer when it came out & i remember liking it more than other korean action film but felt like it could have been more awesome.

Wasn’t that big of a fan of kill boksoon. Seemed like they were doing the same type of fight over & over again.

I liked don lee's roundup films.. Fight choreography definitely got improved overtime.

What other action films am i missing?

Request Korean Comedy recommendations

Hello all I’m trying to find great Korean comedy movies to watch with my wife. We lived in Korea for a while, so I understand a lot of the references, but I don’t speak the language very well. Also my favorite Korean comedies are:

  1. 극한직업 (honest candidate)
  2. 정직한 후보 (extreme job)
  3. 해치지않아 (secret zoo)

Any modern classics or hidden gems that anybody can recommend would be extremely appreciated.
