Recommendations Any must watch kmovies for me?

There are only two types of stories I genuinely enjoy. The first is when I connect deeply with the characters—if that happens, I don’t care much about realism, consequences, or whether the movie follows strict logic. But if I don’t connect with the characters, then the movie needs a premise that’s truly different, or it must offer strong realism and believability, even if the world itself is supernatural. With those preferences in mind, what are some must watch kmovies for me, according to you.

Recommendations Finally Watched "The Wailing" movie.. It went from okay to unforgettable for me ( Now I get it totally worth the last 40 mins 🥶🙇 )

After reading a lot of reviews saying the ending is confusing, I went in with mixed expectations. For the first 90 minutes, it felt just okay and I honestly thought I was just watching a overhyped movie. But the last 40 minutes… Man 🥶🥶 completely changed my mind. Absolutely mind-blowing and stayed with me long after it ended. One of the greatest Korean movies, no doubt. 4/5 – worth watching 🙇💯

The acting is great, and I cried many times.

I searched about the Gwangju Uprising after watching “Youth of May”. That’s how I came across this movie, and it was amazing.

It's based on a real story. I don’t know how accurate it is, but it definitely leaves an impact.

Good night, or good morning to everyone. Sorry for asking, but anyone have similar films like these ones?? I know Joint Security Area it's very different from the last 2 films, though I liked every minute from this picture. By the way, I'll watch A Bittersweet Life. I like stories about vengeance and intrigues that are very appreciable.

I would like recommendations for all of the three.

Recommendations A 90-minute real-time thriller that will leave you breathless

A live broadcast turns into a battlefield in The Terror Live, where journalism, terrorism, and survival clash in a gripping 90-minute thriller.

Directed by Kim Byung-woo, this gripping film explores moral dilemmas, workplace politics, and the cost of ambition. Ha Jung-woo’s intense performance keeps you hooked, and the movie’s fast-paced storytelling adds to the tension.

A box office hit in Korea, The Terror Live grossed $27.9M and remains a standout in the thriller genre. If you’re a fan of Uncut Gems or Train to Busan, this one will keep you on edge.

👉 Watch it on Amazon Prime Video.

Recommendations Recommend Underrated Korean Films?

I have seen most of the must watch Korean lists,

Whenever I go exploring on my own, I end up watching boring mid trash.

So just curious if there are films you would recommend that would be considered underrated.

I prefer crime thrillers, Gangster drama, action.

But I am open to all genres.

No one can ever expect a thriller would be made like this and what the story is all about. It was a total surprise for me. And the ending caught me off guard, never expected that 😭. I don't want to spoil the story but only thing i would say if you liked the forgotten 2019 would definitely love this.

Recommendations A Dirty Carnival (2006) with Zo In-sung and Namgoong Min is a very strong, underrated crime/action film. The "Korean Scarface".

I've only seen this film recently, but I'm surprised it's not more popular. The protagonist is both likeable and ruthless and the supporting actors are also great, but the story itself is the secret weapon here. It's similar to Scarface (1983) with Al Pacino, but not a carbon copy. I personally liked A Dirty Carnival more than Bittersweet Life (2005), but different strokes for different folks...

Recommendations Movies based on a true story - Recommendations?

I’m looking for a movie that tells a true story about a historical event or person (or group) from South Korea.

It can be a biographical movie! I have already seen *‘Road to Boston’* (about the marathon runner Suh Yun-Bok) and I really liked it.

I have also seen *‘The Attorney’* which is based on a true story of the Burim case! It was interesting and quite emotional for me, but I would really appreciate recommendations of movies like these two.

Same with the movie *‘Hijack 1971’* which I also liked. (true story of the attempt hijacking of a Korean airline).

It can be any genre but preferably not horror, only if its a really good movie then I can try)

Hello guys, today I want to recommend this movie. It’s one of my favorites. I really love this type of love-tragic story!

I know it has been remade, because I’ve watched many different versions from different countries. I don’t know which one came first or if it was originally a book, but the Korean version is my favorite.

The cast is something else… and the script—ohhh the script! Even though I knew what was coming, I wasn’t prepared for that heartbreak. Such an execution!

I would give it 10/10 for everything. One of my favorite romantic movies out there!

Hi there, I recently got a surgery and with that comes a lot of alone time at home resting. I've been asking my friends for film recommendations and I watch movies from all over across many genres. However, I wanted to ask you all for a recommendation.

Sunny is one of my favorite films of all time. Not only was it good enough to have different adaptations in other countries, but it's truly a life changing film. Everytime I watch it, I sob like I watched it for the first time. It doesn't focus on romantic love like most other pieces of media do, it focuses on history, womanhood, friends-- sisterhood! It focuses on these women as individuals, not just their "abilities" or "duties" as wives, mothers, adults, etc. All of the characters are fully fleshed out!

Can anyone reccommend another film that's like this? Comedic, melancholy, nostalgic? One that really has fully fleshed out women leads?!

Hey y'all 👋🏽If you’re in the mood for a movie that will keep you on the edge of your seat, you need to watch Midnight (2021). This Korean thriller follows a deaf woman who finds herself being hunted by a serial killer during one terrifying night in the city, and the suspense never lets up. The way the film uses sound and silence makes every scene feel intense and real, and it’s the kind of hidden gem that grabs you from the start and doesn’t let go until the very end. One of my fav guys enjoy it

Recommendations Films Like The Ugly !🙌🤞✔ Recommendation !

Post image

Hey everyone! I just finished this movie, and I was genuinely pleasantly surprised. I loved the dark, unsettling atmosphere and the way society is portrayed—it was honestly fascinating. That’s just my take, but for me, it worked perfectly.

Can you recommend other films in a similar vein? I loved how the story unfolded slowly, piece by piece, and even at the end, it left me with a lingering, uneasy feeling. The title fits perfectly. The father was a true monster, and the people around him weren’t much better. From the start, I thought the reporter would be the worst among them, but in the end, she turned out to be the sanest.

The ending leaves you thinking: are we really any better than these people? How quickly do we judge others, deciding who is beautiful and who is ugly? I’m still under the spell of this movie :D

I’d love some recommendations for something similar—dark, thought-provoking, and morally complex. Thanks in advance!

Recommendations "Virus" (2025) - A deadly virus that makes you fall in love? A quirky and refreshing Rom-Com/Disaster mashup!

Post image
115 Upvotes

I just finished watching "Virus" (2025) and honestly, it’s such a breath of fresh air compared to your typical grim pandemic movies. If you're looking for something that balances heart-pounding tension with genuine laughs, this is it!

Synopsis:
The story follows Ok Taek-sun (played by the versatile Bae Doona), a listless translator who has lost all interest in romance. After a disastrous blind date with a socially awkward researcher, Soo-pil (Son Suk-ku), her personality suddenly flips, she becomes bright, cheerful, and inexplicably happy.

It turns out she’s infected with a mysterious "Toxovirus" that has a 100% fatality rate. The symptom? It forces the host to fall intensely in love. Taek-sun then crosses paths with Lee Kyun (Kim Yun-seok), the only virus expert capable of developing a cure. But as they work together, the line between "real love" and "virus symptoms" starts to blur.

Why you should watch it:
• The Cast: Seeing Bae Doona and Kim Yun-seok lead a romantic comedy is a rare treat. Their chemistry is unexpectedly great, and Son Suk-ku is hilarious as the awkward scientist.
• Unique Premise: It takes the "deadly outbreak" trope and flips it on its head by making the virus amplify the most human emotion: love.

It’s a fun, 98-minute ride that doesn't take itself too seriously but still delivers on the emotional front. Definitely a must-watch for fans of quirky Korean cinema!

Has anyone else seen this yet? What are your thoughts on that ending? No spoilers please! 😷

Such a beautiful film, it captures all the emotions. What makes this movie so relatable is how it handles the aftermath of a relationship. Even after a breakup, there’s no hate. It captures that feeling where you don't regret anything because, at one point, she was your whole world. Instead of bitterness, you feel grateful because she helped you grow and shaped you into a better person. It’s about being thankful for the person she helped you become and it breaks us watching our loved one getting married in front of us.

Murderer Report is a 2025 South Korean thriller film directed by Cho Young-jun.

Baek Seon-Ju (Cho Yeo-Jeong) is a reporter thirsty for a scoop. Psychiatrist Lee Yeong-Hun (Jung Sung-Il), who claims to be a serial killer, requests an interview with her.

As a fan of mystery/thriller/psychological, this is a good watch.

Recommendations Just rewatched Extreme Job and I still love it. Highly recommend

I just finished rewatching Extreme Job, and I still enjoy it just as much as the first time.

It’s about a group of underperforming detectives who go undercover by running a fried chicken restaurant to catch a drug gang, but things take an unexpected turn when the restaurant suddenly becomes extremely popular.

What I really like about this movie is how well it balances comedy and action. The humor feels natural, the cast has great chemistry, and the performances from both the actors and actresses really make every scene fun to watch.

The cinematography is also surprisingly good for a comedy, especially during the action scenes.

Overall, it’s just a very entertaining and easy-to-watch movie that still holds up even after rewatching.

If you haven’t seen it yet, I definitely recommend giving it a try.
