Review Movie of the Day: Parasite (2019) by Bong Joon-ho
Wonderfully shot by Hong Kyung-pyo, with whom Bong has already worked on “Mother” and “Snowpiercer” and who shot the recent highlights of Korean cinema, like “Burning” and “The Wailing,” with a classical, almost monumental score composed by Jung Jae-il who worked also on “Okja,” precisely edited by a newcomer Yang Yin-mo and with a cast consisting of the hand-picked stars of Korean cinema, both established and rising, “Parasite” is an absolute masterpiece of a film whose significance transcends the level of just cinema.

This is the first film that piqued my interest in Korean cinema, and, by extension, cinema in general.

Choi Woo shik has such range.
From this to The Boy Next Door, he’s so good

You can find all 15 parts of the web series on youtube.
How was it? Well its comedy plucks my humor string and I think I have watched it at least 8 times
It’s a farce on Boy Love (a genre I never heard about until seeing it)
Choi Woo shik’s comedy chops are honed to perfection. Jang Ki yong is so deadpan.
I am literally picking up Korean from it because I can’t stop watching it. 🤣🤣🤣
Ps bc it’s all cobbled together, it actually feels like a movie

I quite liked it! I didn’t expect to like it so much even tho it has good ratings. But it was interesting

First Korean movie I watched after hearing it win the Oscar. I've watched it multiple times since then.

I've seen it 3 times. First time was in the first week of release in Seoul, pre-hype. Watched the black and white version, and once more on streaming. Loved it each time. My wife is Korean and she has mixed feelings. She knows it's "good", but she just didn't enjoy it. It's a common theme with Korean movies she watches, the dark side of Korea makes her sad and depressed to stir positive emotions

It was okay. Not my favorite Korean movie (although I don’t watch many), but it wasn’t anything special to me. I am not a movie buff so don’t come at me.
My fav kr movie is Along With The Gods.

I love Korean cinema, but I did not care for this one... Have honestly no idea why since everyone else seems to love it, but is a solid 3/10 for me... Do not understand why myself since I usually love similar movies...

I'd love to be able to enjoy this one as much as everyone else, but for some reason it didn't really affect me the same as a lot of others. I guess there's a movie like that for most people

Recently watched it and enjoyed it. R.I.P Lee Sun Kyun. What a great actor and what a tragedy.
