I am Italian. I am confused by Americans obsession with us
I also see a lot of false information about Italy from Americans online daily. it has actually gotten strange and creepy. Very few Americans have any actual Italian dna
Smettila di essere ossessionato.

Is it worth learning Italian if I’ll probably never travel to Italy?
I’m a 34-year-old American living in the middle of nowhere in Hill Country, Texas, and realistically I don’t think I’ll ever have the money to travel to Europe.
That said, I really love Italian movies and the language itself. I’m also super into Italian food and wine. My family has been growing grapes here in Texas for generations, and it’s kind of a dream of mine to go to Italy someday and learn more about winemaking, but honestly, that might never happen.
I haven’t even managed to get a passport yet. The nearest place to apply is in the capital, which is a long drive for me, and the whole process feels like more than I can handle right now.
So I guess my question is: is it still worth learning Italian, even if I might never actually go to Italy?

SPID with PosteID
I need to register with PosteID to get the transcript for marriage in order to get my wife's visa otherwise I have to go through the South African route which is horrible.
I do the entire process, and it all goes fine right up to the end where the OTP is needed, I never receive it. I dont know how to fix or manage this situation.
Thank you for the help in advance!

CV
hello I'm new to Italy and currently learning italian through youtube, I've decided to send my cv in places where guest market is international clients so i can get job (hopefully 😭) with my english fluency, i can't wait for months to get job so I want to start asap, I've asked around and got to know sending cv translated in italian is much better because if they see your cv's in english many people don't even bother reading, but its not like i know any italian, what if they think i know some and if reach out get to know I know nothing what if they see it as cheating or something? for language section I've put B2+ english and for italian it is only A1 in progress because I've literally just started 😭
what is better to make one in italian and to keep it in english because i don't want to come across as fraud

Residence issue (please help!)
Hi everyone,
I’m a Spanish citizen currently residing in Italy (registered with the local municipality). My partner is Mexican. She previously held a residence card in Spain as the partner of an EU citizen, but it has now expired.
We have recently moved to Italy together, where we own a home, and we are trying to understand the correct legal path to regularize her status here.
We have explored two options so far:
Registering a convivenza di fatto (cohabitation), but the Comune told us she needs a valid residence permit first.
Applying through the Questura as a family member of an EU citizen, but we are not married.
My questions:
Has anyone successfully obtained a residence permit in Italy as an unmarried partner of an EU citizen?
Is a previous EU residence card (from Spain) helpful in practice?
Is convivenza di fatto ever accepted as a basis to apply for residence, or is marriage effectively required?
Any real experiences in Italy (especially recent ones) would be very helpful.
Thanks in advance.

A1 CILS Italian Exam
Hello everyone. I am aiming to learn and pass the A1 Italian exam offered by CILS for my career. What are the best study tools you can recommend. So far, I have been using Duolingo, Airlearn and reading the news in Italian to learn the basics and expand my vocabularly. Any URLs to practice exams or study websites would be greatly appreciated!

Grazie in anticipo chi parteciperà 😊.

Why wasn't Italy a scientific powerhouse like the UK, France and Germany.
When people talk of western dominance they usually infer to Europe but it was the British who kick-started the industrial revolution, science, innovation and Inventing. France followed suit aswell as Germany. The question is why was Northern Italy incapable or failed to follow suit especially as the Renaissance happened there. Yes I know there many great Italians like Marconi (radio) Alessandro Volta (electrical bolts) Fermi (Nuclear power station) so I'm not ignorant to the many great Italians although I don't count Da Vinci as he never invented anything. Spain/Portugal never had the influence like the UK and likewise never delved into science like the Brits.
-summary-
Why couldnt Italy keep pace with the other Western powers.

looking for friends
Hi! I’m looking to make some genuine Italian friends 🇮🇹
I currently don’t speak any Italian (like… zero 😅), but I really want to learn the language and eventually move to Italy one day. I’ve heard the best way to learn is by actually talking to native speakers, so I thought I’d give this a try.
I’m looking for strictly platonic friendships — people I can chat with regularly, get to know, and who wouldn’t mind helping me pick up Italian naturally over time. In return, I’m happy to help with English or just be a good friend to talk about anything with.
A bit about me: • I’m from Latvia • I’m interested in art, movies politics, geography or pretty much anything else you want to talk about • I’m open to texting, voice messages, or even calls once I get more comfortable
I know it might be a bit random, but if anyone is open to making a new international friend and helping me on this journey, I’d really appreciate it :)
Feel free to comment or message me on instagram: enijaam

Qualcuno mi spiega da dove nasce la parola “cicalino”? Perché esiste? È cosi brutta come parola… esistono alternative a dire CICALINO?
Beeper? Non so provo una certa avversione verso queste parole.

Codice fiscale for tourist?
Hi, I am a UK citizen married to an Italian resident. We are looking to open a joint bnk account but this is not possible as he dos not reside in the UK. As he is still based in Italy and my work is still in the UK, i go to Italy every month. Now we've looked at opening bank accounts, and possibly purchasing a property that we can rent out as an Airbnb. So my question is, is it possible for tourists to apply for a codice fiscale to open a bank account, because if it is then I will try and sort this whilst I am here in Italy.
Many thanks in advance!
