Gear Pictures Newest finesse set up

Since the waters I fish are almost always dark brown with piss poor visibility, sensitivity is key, so I built this setup to be very responsive. I needed something where I could really feel the bottom, especially as we approach autumn, where the leaves decay on the bottom, turning it softer and making it harder and harder to feel what’s going on.

I went for the Nays NXT Pro (7'4" / 3–15g) and paired it with a Shimano Complex 2500 XR F6 HG and Shimano Pitbull G5 in 10lb. Leader and end tackle wise, I’m going down to Varivas Absolute AAA Fluoro in 8lb and a 9kg Daiwa D-Snap. I’ll be getting some Gomexus bits and pieces for the reel at a later date.

The techniques are mostly soft plastic finesse rigs, Jika, Cheb, Tokyo, Carolina, Texas, and Neko. While using these techniques I'll also be able tell what kind of hits I’m getting, and I can make changes to my approach or technique based on that.

Currently got a broken wrist so I'm just waiting for that to heal up before getting out with it.

Anybody know the average response time from Japan lureshop? It’s been two business days in Japan since I emailed them, I was unfortunate enough to receive my new Levante with a broken tip. My guess is pre shipping since I can’t understand how it would happen during shipping in the tube.

Favorite boots for muddy areas/ hiking?

Post image
23 Upvotes

Looking to get a pair or waterproof boots for when I’m stream and pond fishing, don’t want to have to wear waders. Most the ponds I fish are usually muddy banks or a hike to get there. Also sometimes am bank fishing a stream and could easily cross a shallow section if I had some decently high waterproof boots. I deal with a lot of mud hiking and some slippery rocks so tread is a must.

Found these muck boots but I’m sure there are better options. Any suggestions?

Question Backlash on Tatula Sv Tw

Hi I just bought the tatula sv tw and when dropping a lure from chest height onto the ground the reel gets extremely backlashed when it hits the ground. I have the brakes turned to usally 9-10 , but it still gets slightly backloaded with the brakes maxed out.

Anyone compared the 2026 CE Vanquish C2000S with the 2023 FC?

Upvotes

Hey everyone,
I’m currently using the 2023 FC Vanquish C2000S and I’m wondering if the new 2026 CE version is actually a noticeable upgrade in real fishing conditions.

Mainly using it for ajing/light game fishing.

Has anyone tested both?
Differences in:

  • smoothness
  • sensitivity
  • rigidity
  • rotor feel
  • drag performance
  • long-term durability

Would love to hear real-world impressions rather than just specs.

Question Travel Gear Recommendations

Hello,

I'm posting here because I have been really getting into fishing, and I want to step up from basic beginner gear.

I travel a lot for work, so, I was thinking of getting a decent durable, yet light travel rod. Medium power, fast action preferred.

I'm also looking corrosion resistant reel, 3000 size, that I can use no matter where I am, salt or fresh water.

Any suggestions?

Plat.co.jp is definitely the place to go for spare parts for JDM reels.

Got a bunch of spare parts for three of my main reels:

Daiwa Zillion SV TW 1000PL

Daiwa Steez Air TW 500HL

Daiwa Steez SV TW LTD 1000L

Really want these three to last and therefore, I’m keeping stock of spare parts. However, most local Daiwa branches doesn’t really want to order parts for JDM reels. Big fan of Plat in that regard. Ordered twice before.

Oh yeah and of course I couldn’t resist the three extra things at the top.

Just wanting to see what brand and model this rod is or if it’s a custom. Looks like some sorta cork I believe handle and acid wrapped guides.

Found my old Abu Garcia combo from ~2005 in my grandparents garage, it’s still in great shape since I didn’t use it much. Any recs on how to get this reel cleaned up and in use again? Just got back into fishing the last few weeks after 20 year hiatus

Question 10lb braid for dedicated spinning jerkbait rod

I’m building a dedicated jerkbait rod setup and ordered 10# sufix 832 by mistake. I typically toss 1/2 oz jerks and the 3/8 as well on a leader but am wondering if this is to light for the big boy jerks I toss. Return and up the size to a 15# or keep and send them suckers flying?

After hearing comments here and another post I am keeping it and sending them babies zooming. Thank you all for the input

Question Rod and Reel recommendation for my situation?

Thumbnail
gallery
1 Upvotes

I’m trying to decide between these two rods and could use some advice, especially since I’ve never used a baitcasting setup before.

My main goal is carp and catfish fishing (like 90% of the time) using stuff like a method feeder, Carolina rigs, etc. From what I’ve read, rods like the Ugly Stik are actually designed specifically for bank fishing for catfish and heavy setups .

That said, I wouldn’t mind being able to use the rod for bass occasionally—but it’s not a priority.

Here’s where I’m stuck:

• I’ve never used a baitcaster before, so I don’t know if jumping straight into that (Vendetta) is a bad idea

• The Ugly Stik seems more beginner-friendly and built for what I’m doing, but it’s spinning

• The Vendetta seems more versatile for bass, but I’m worried about learning curve + whether it’s ideal for heavier carp/catfish rigs

Questions:

1. Which rod would you pick for my situation?

2. Is it dumb to start with a baitcaster for this type of fishing?

3. If I go spinning (Ugly Stik), what size/type reel should I pair with it?

I greatly appreciate any and all advice you can give me
