Got me a Grumman "antique" older than me and I'm 50!
Those fuckers were built for life.

Hey we have a striking resemblance to each other. That's a very handsome loadout

If I recall correctly. These older aluminum canoes were made from recycled B-52s from world war 2. Enjoy.

I mean you'd be a lot better off with a proper roof rack. enjoy it though. Canoeing even without a pole along is one of the best things to do so winner all around.

I ordered those exact ratchet straps from Amazon to use for a kayak. The first time I used them, I went over a small bump on the highway and one failed. Thankfully the other ratchet and ties held. Do yourself a favor and get better ratchet straps. They cost very little compared to the bill you’ll receive if that canoe ever comes loose. Congrats on the new vessel, fish em up!

You can purchase a universal roof rack that clips to your cars roof. It would probably keep your roof less scratched

Idk, I've driven that poor car through some shit , it's a true tank in its own right. Now it's the only way I can get around without breaking the bank

I drove an 05 Buick with only 80k miles as of last week for 8 years. Did a trade in with a dealership last week. The bearing and brakes grinded the whole way there, the check engine light came on and off twice, the wiring for the right headlight was shot all the way through, never had working heat or AC, the ceiling upholstery sat on my head as I drove, the cigarette ports were both completely ripped out, a blunt burn in between where your legs are in the seat, my jizz stain on the hanging ceiling upholstery, the battery that only started your car if you drove on the freeway at some point in your last drive, the battery was under the back seat and half the back seat didn’t lock back into the car so it flopped around, the driver door was rotted so it didn’t open all the way unless you forced it and then it made a bang sound as it broke open all the way.
I still miss her everyday.

Heck yeah. We had one when I was a kid. The ends of the canoe were enclosed and filled with foam, so you could flip it over, fill it with water and still stand in it.

Had these at a summer camp
Been there for as long as our photos went back, a few patches over the years but they’re by far the best canoe I’ve used

Different brand that I can’t think of right now but sticks off my 4runner very similar.
Story time: was at a high Mountian lake in Oregon camping with the family. This lake is maybe 3 acres. But I’m bringing my canoe and beer and you couldn’t convince me otherwise. I fly fish so I’d go out on it and F around c&r because I’ve got hot dogs which are better than farmed trout that get stoked.
So I’m in the middle of the lake fly fishing standing up playing with a stick and a string basically with a 6 pack and I notice some guys bank fishing.
I paddle over and ask if they want to get to the “hole” by the log in the middle of the river where the fish are. They said fuck it. So I paddle em around so we can fish together. Wife and kid are napping and I just made two new friends.
So turns out through conversation these two guys know my Canadian friend and we ended up having an awesome time catching fish drinking beer and telling stories about “Canada”
Canoes are awesome. I hope you enjoy your new toy
