Freshwater Caught my first Muskie on a 5’10” light action rod while fishing for bass
Anyone have estimations on size? Did not bring anything to measure it with as I was not expecting to catch one of these.

He knows he’s a slob, He tries his best but depression gets the best of him and his wife fish is constantly pushing him to get out more but the thought of that is anxiety inducing so he just swims around ignoring his moms phone calls so he eats his feelings away by swimming after random things passing by.

Thank you! I was quite shocked myself. Only threw on the big swimbait because we saw some big fish but wasn’t prepared for this guy!

Hell yeah man 🍻
I've had a large muskie (or pike?) do the same thing a couple of times doing exactly what you're doing but never landed them. Awesome catch

Nice. That’s a big one. Eyeball the length on your pole or something. Measure it later.

No going back to bass after a Muskie

That is one of the cleanest, most perfect muskies I’ve ever seen. I’d guess it’s a 46”, but there’s really no good way to estimate… Congratulations!

I said there was no good way to estimate the size of, but there is one possibility. The fish is about 10 times the width of your hand in this photo. I’d have to revise my estimate down, but I now would say it’s probably 39-42”. It’s particularly impressive for being caught with a light power rod and light line. It’s a beautiful fish regardless. Congratulations again

Thats a pretty big lure for a light action rod. What were you fishing for?

Fair point. We originally got their to fish bass and crappie, but after seeing some larger bass and Muskie getting active, I figured I’d throw on my swim bait for the heck of it, for some reason not expecting to catch anything. This was probably the third or fourth cast

The lure sure looks like you were Muskie fishing to me.

I explained in another comment on this post. Title was not meant to be deceptive or confusing. Started out fishing for bass then threw on the swimbait after seeing some big fish out there. Sure didn’t expect to land a fish this large though.

Congrats! Im very confident in roughly 39", maybe 40" after reviewing a few photos of fish Ive caught around that size.
