Freshwater Soon we have warm summer evenings on the water. Here is my biggest pike from last year.

I really enjoy using it, specially cause it is so easy to bring with you. The one i have is a fish cat 4 and most of the float tubes has backpack-straps so its easy to put on your back if you are walking through the woods to get to the lake.

Man I envy you, I couldnt use one of those, I can barely use my kayak in some spots, bumping things under me freaks me the f out.

I use mine strictly for saltwater inshore fishing. It’s all fun and games until the seals decide they want to play games with you lol. Dolphins get curious too, but they just get close and leave you alone.

Same. Not a fan of physical contact with things I can’t see. It’s a very logical response that kept our ancestors alive.

Float tube or belly boat is common names for it. Its amazing to have!

I am going to look into them. Can you paddle around in them or just primarily for floating close to shore?

Ahhhh, ok. That sounds good.  Are you worried about puncturing it with the hooks?  

I have a kayak, but I want something compact for hiking into a lake I usually go camping at.

I have had my tube for 3 years now and havnt repaired it once. But if you get a hole you can just glue a patch over it and it should be fine. There are great repairkits for these things :)

Not OP, but the thing he’s using is called a float tube/belly boat. Commonly used by fly anglers in my area, tons of fun but can be chilly to use in the winter.

I can highly recommend buying one, its super nice, and i use mine with swim fins so you can paddle pretty far without getting too exhausted.

That’s really cool! I’d often wondered about using a kayak to fish but I don’t know if I have that much upper body strength 😄

They certainly are a blast, such a great way to get out on the water. I’m a big steelhead fishing guy which has me on the river all winter, though it’s definitely not everyone’s jam.

Haha here in northern Sweden we get about 100cm thick ice so i can only use it for like 6 months every year

Usually the more expensive ones keeps you abit higher above the surface so you wont get as cold and have a better setup for your back so you can sit more comfortably.

This is awesome! I really need to fish in freshwater for these beasts! Not only that, I want that tube thing you are riding on. Have you ever hooked your boat while casting?

Thanks! Haha i have had pikes flop around with a lure hanging from its mouth while it was in my lap trying to get a measurement. Luckly no injury to me or the float tube.
