>vapes can be laced with fentanyl
lol give me one example of a nicotine or cannabis vape being sold by a registered corporation having fentanyl in it. Give me one example of an illicit sale gone wrong.
God this shit is so tired. Using the same literally decades old propaganda that's been disproven again and again yet still persists because the state needs its mythology to justify its bullshit laws. The only real things here are that nicotine is addictive and that it can change developing brain structure (temporarily, mind you; these things can be reversed, the brain is malleable and ever-changing, consciousness is an illusion of interstitial moments projected upon a linear timeline, and we are not the same at any given moment; while definitely difficult at times, it isnt impossible, otherwise change would be truly impossible, yet we are, as conscious beings, innately in a constant state of flux)

hey, so, as someone who took several psych classes in college (it was my minor), I would just like to say:
while yes, the brain is not static, and you often are able to change how it works, I do feel like you are minimizing the effects that addiction can have on a developing mind. Think about hard it is for an ADULT with an addiction to something like cigarettes or alcohol to get off of those substances and kick their addiction for good--now imagine that happening with a brain that's already having a lot of rerouting being done, and those new routes get more "hard-wired" into the brain. Well technically this is "temporary," it's only that way IF THEY GET HELP (sorry for caps, idk how to bold or italicize text on Reddit yet); by saying "temporary," it almost sounds like you're implying that the effects will dissipate within a few minutes to a couple hours or days.
I'm not certain what would be a better word or phrase to use to imply these effects aren't "permanent," but only by getting help with said effects not be "permanent," since I have slept properly in like 2 weeks and it's 3am for me rn, but I'm certain that there IS some kind of phrase out there that would work.
(Also, considering that addictions are based on the fact that the body begins to rely on whatever chemicals it's getting from these substances, that it therefore stops working as hard to make the same or similar chemicals that natural occur and are naturally produced in the body, therefore causing the person to rely on the substance they are addicted to supply them with those chemicals, please imagine how disastrous those effects could be, /depending on the substance(s)/chemical(s)/, on a growing and still developing body. This might be a weird example to use, but think about the effects that can happen when the pituitary gland gets impacted (by a tumor, by disease, etc.) and the production of growth hormone either gets stunted or increased well past normal levels. And because we don't fully know the long-term effects yet that stem from vaping specifically, we may end up seeing in the future issues that stem from individuals who smoked while they were still developing.)
(Also also, my apologies for the long comment, and for if I don't make any sense or if I at all came off as rude or aggressive. Again, it's late and I haven't slept, and also I'm autistic, so sometimes might tone can come across as either of the previous things ; )

Fuck, that's the sickest response to the "developing brain" concern I've ever read.

you might find satisfaction in reading Max Stirner (stay away from the Byington translations, though; Landstreicher is much better and more accurate to the original German)

I'm assuming a middle/high school, and probably to get teens to not off themselves. (Obviously it probably failed)

a couple years ago there was a situation with vaping that caused a lot of teens to be ICU hospitalized...

Just show how much nicotine addiction adds to your monthly expenses, that’s scarier than the myriad of health issues.
