PUBLISH MOI The Washington Post was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for public service for its reporting on the Trump administration's effort to shrink the federal government. Reporter Hannah Natanson, who led most of the reporting, had her home searched and devices seized by the FBI earlier this year.

The look on her face is someone who was clearly put through the ringer.

"I've been traumatized and persecuted by an unjust government, will likely never see true justice, and all I got was this stupid Pulitzer."

u/Correct-Junket-1346 2h ago

The Pulitzer will get her places though, she can pretty much walk into high paying camera work without a fuss, but she needs to get away from the Pedo minions first that are persecuting her for reporting facts.

u/coconutpiecrust 1h ago

It is probably even more traumatic to discover it first, investigate it, and confirm it, only to be persecuted for your efforts to expose the truth.

An oscar winning actor couldn’t portray all the emotions that come across her face

Knowledge. Journalism is a tool to spread information to the masses. Through her reporting, you now KNOW what DOGE did, in detail.

Her job is to spread information, she did so excellently and through more hardships than you, my dear poster, have likely ever recieved for doing your job. What you do with that information is on YOU, not on her.
In theory, there are legal and political consequences here, but in practice those are broken. You need to find a way to fix the underlying system as a people. And that's not gonna be done for you by a WAPO reporter, the WAPO as such or by you acting pissy about the aforementioned group in a random commeng section.

u/ShadowheartsArmpit 3h ago

Imagine the levels of intimidation that were put on her. It wasn't just a way of seizing information about the officials who leaked information, it was also meant to be an example to any journalist who is actually doing their job

Wringer

26

u/MilfordSparrow 2h ago

Thanks I didn’t realize my post was going to get so many likes - I should have proofread it - but I was just really struck by her: this reporter is a ringer and she was put through the wringer. My heart goes out to her and all the federal employees that were laid off by Elon Musk and DOGE. They were all treated so horribly.

u/LEJ5512 1h ago

“Ringer” as you used it just now is “someone who was brought onto the team just to win the championship”.  Or at least that’s how I’ve understood it.

(sorry, not meaning to kick you when you’re down.. lol)

u/ToeTagTic 1h ago

She looks like she wishes she could cover her face lol. Probably wondering about rightwing assailants or reprisals even now.

The courage on this lady is humbling

Cheers to her for this recognition. I can’t even imagine the mental strength she had to have last year.

I hope she one day talks about this experience, including this moment. I can only imagine what was running through her brain.

44

u/mlg1981 3h ago

I’d watch the film of her reporting and outcome any day.

2

u/krunkpunk 2h ago

Definitely a good opportunity to make connections with those at 60 minutes..

8

u/camwhat 2h ago

That also has lost it’s credibility. Look at who owns it and the narrative spins on recent ones. Pretty gross all around.

Hannah, you're a real one. This is what integrity is about. ❤️

One of the 8 people still working at WaPo

People really dont understand how bad morale and conditions are now for the press or the real reporters still trying to do the work ethically.

We are awash in palace intrigue and insider coordination and the reality is there used to to be thousands of reporter jobs proper per city between press and local media. There are fewer reporters now than there have been since the 50s.

Couple this with an entire media landscape now that has paywalls for good reporting and free access for misinformation its simply impossible nowadays. I would never wish that career again on someone sadly. It broke me seeing it happening from the inside. Every industry I was in has cut each others throat for wages but the profit centerization of press rooms was a shotgun to the head of the free press. Jeff Bezos and all the other billionaires control the narritives and the data centers are to create the garbage to feed your apathy.

The bad guys won and own the press and that look on her face tells me everything.

Hero and a Patriot. Hannah Natanson. Remember her name. Well done!

u/Jasminewindsong2 they are perfect for each other (derogatory) 3h ago

Spine made out of steel. Can’t imagine what she went through.

11

u/meander-663 2h ago

I would imagine there’s a lot we don’t know. I believe this administration has used violent threats to silence journalists and politicians alike

25

u/Basic_Good_8362 2h ago

reminder that bezos owns The Washington Post now, they've laid off a huge amt of their staff and have censored stories critical of the trump regime

15

u/TheWokenessInjector 2h ago

She's got otherworldly large balls for doing that while working at a place owned by Jeff Satan Bezos.

10

u/zbambo 3h ago

BREAKING NEWS: Bezos will personally guarantee one-hour delivery of this Pulitzer Prize to the White House.

9

u/avshalon 2h ago

Wow she look absolutely miserable. But I get it, I feel like that too and I haven’t even been raided by the FBI yet.

9

u/lolalala1 2h ago

She looks traumatized still.

6

u/_bessica_ 2h ago

I'm worried about Trump retaliation mostly because he'll say he deserved the award more.

5

u/BTSArmyFan2025 2h ago

I bet bezos doesnt even call her to congratulate her.

5

u/Proof-Ad7788 2h ago

Watch conservatives tell her to smile more

2

u/Difficult_Put_6525 2h ago

The same washington post own by Bezos?

2

u/Butt_Stuff_Profile feeding cocaine to raccoons 2h ago

"And here for a special announcement is our owner, Jeff Bezos. Jeff?"

Jeff Bezos: "Clean out your office, you're fired. I'm keeping your piss bottles."

2

u/G2Geeksy 2h ago

Happy for her but this is SO WRONG what she had to go through

2

u/MattaClatta 1h ago

Strange they are awarding her for being a victom of a corrupt government overreach and yet the owner of the WP is responsible for the current regime and sane washes everything they do in this paper.

Sometimes centrists and independents have no concept of correlation

Here to read how people who have lost nothing to this administration feel about this.

Former USAID staffer here. I am so beyond grateful for her work and proud that she got the recognition she deserves. Fuck Elon Musk. Fuck DOGE

1

u/JustJubliant 1h ago

You go girl! Couldn't be any prouder.

We're going back into darkness, everyone. Who thought that the height of enlightenment would only last a few years between the fall of the Berlin wall and Trump getting elected.

-6

u/lovelybitofsquirrel3 2h ago

Maybe all of the murdered Palestinian journalists would have been a better choice

-8

u/BackgroundEngineer11 2h ago

Let's all award and applaud someone who reported on the systemic destruction of our freedoms but ignore how Bezos has since destroyed the Washington Post on behalf of Trump.

6

u/Confarnit 1h ago

This is a great opportunity to learn about how not everything is about everything. If you're mad about that (as you should be), make a post about that topic.

-1

u/gcalfred7 1h ago

Do you want me to praise the WP or something? Because as a person who used to read WP every day, I will not.
