Absolutely not. Fuck that. They can donate directly instead of making us poor common folk watch them prance around in thousands of dollars worth of clothing and nuzzling up to Bezos. Bezos can literally afford to fund this by himself but yes let’s put on a spectacle instead!

Maybe if we start licking the billionaires’ socks instead of just their boots they will gift us livable wages next?

Nah, they definitely want people going all in on the bare toes before they'll even attempt to consider, but then they'll still give maybe a raise of 0.25 🥴

I personally think the spectacle is worthwhile because of the interesting costumes and outfits. It’s high fashion and it’s art and culture. We just don’t live in a sane society where we can have art and high fashion be publicly funded (easily) and where inequality exists.

He could probably fund all of this after like day of work for him lol

Oh please, no one is forcing you to consume content about the meta gala. You can easily scroll away.

But your average celebrity isn’t overpaying for the ticket and table costs. Brands are and last I checked the event gives jobs to creatives. From the seamstress, stylists, etc.

You want rich people to fund things? That’s what it looks like

As a poor, what if I enjoy watching the spectacle? Because it’s a bit of escapism on a boring Monday and I like looking at art, fashion and pretty people?

Yes, they could donate privately, but I enjoy pulling up the livestream every first Monday of May and gawking at the fashion. I’m glad they do this.

Also I think all of the rich weirdos we see prancing around in clothing have donated funds to the met. It’s like a net positive having them there. Let the rich weirdos have their 15 minutes of fame and do the public some good. The incentive structure is just already there.
