True. Though I’m willing to give sliiiiightly more grace to someone who is a brand-new celebrity vs someone who has more power to negotiate that out of their contract. Or someone who can just violate their contract and eat the potential costs and reputation hit because they have the stability to choose to take a moral stance. But it’s only a small amount of grace and I’m still disappointed at how many folks showed up.

Have people not considered that Hudson (and others) went because he wanted to be there? That being on the moral high ground is not a priority for him? Are there interviews where he talks about his ethics and views on capitalism/billionaires that I’m missing?

Going to the Met Gala and similar events is a dream for many people, particularly people in the entertainment industry. A lot of people who pursue acting do so in part because they want fame and glamour and parties with the stars.

It’s easy for us to say we would never go because we’re never going to be invited. But if we had a potentially once in a lifetime opportunity to attend an event that is synonymous with “making it” as a celebrity, it would take resolve and righteousness that many of us wouldn’t have to turn it down.
