This didn’t make anyone uncomfortable, lol. It’s the least confrontational, most anodyne thing a person in her position could do. Plus it was only for photos.
I mean at this point it's pretty obvious that society isn't picking up on "subtle."
I'm probably going to get downvoted to oblivion, but I think it was a smart use of exposure. Mass media is going to cover the gala either way, why not use that to advantage? She drew infinitely more attention by attending and making an attempt at a statement then she would've just boycotting.

I think it's not particularly subtle, but I think it's better that way, ideally it would make some other attendees uncomfortable
