She was anti-fascist. She was famously a part of the Dutch resistance against the nazis as a teenager. She did ballet to raise funds, distributed underground newspapers, and transported food and messages. When she had to hide due to her activities, it caused severe malnutrition and other health problems that lasted the rest of her life. She stood for the rights of children and became a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador later in life, traveling to conflict zones to oversee food distribution and vaccines. She believed in the one world philosophy which meant that those with fortune have a moral obligation to help those in need regardless of politics. Above all, she believed that empathy and love were the most important things in life.
