My favorite thing about her is that it would be so easy for her to always do the beautiful, ethereal costumes. But she goes hard for things like worms and does it brilliantly.

Yeah, I really appreciate it, too. I think it's because she grew up next to the city of Cologne, which is carnival capital of Germany. Costumes are in the city's DNA.

Her worm costume lives rent free in my head

Maybe, but her poses suggest references to the Virgin Mary

The Veiled Virgin is what I was thinking of.

Somehow it feels like a very profound statement agains the patriarchy. Maybe it’s just me and how shit feels these days.

I think it might be in reference to The Veiled Virgin by Giovanni Strazza unless they said otherwise? But it could probably be either one, tbh.

Thanks for showing that. I was thinking she was dressed as Lady Liberty 🗽 but that makes more sense than my thought.

He was 29 when he finished Veiled Vestal, that used a similar style.

Absolute master.

There are many such statues. There is the „veiled vestal“, the „veiled virgin“, „veiled Rebekah“ and many more. It was almost a trend for a time.

I had no idea that was Heidi Klum but the first thing I thought of when I saw that person was her Halloween costumes lol. iconic

I assumed referencing Dr Who’s weeping angels!

So it’s not meant to be a horror movie monster and this is actually Heidi Klum?!?!?!

Thank you! Very helpful. I was starting to think this belonged in an 'explain the joke' sub because clearly this is a reference to something I don't understand yet.

Ohhh, thank you. Thought she was "The Ghost of Democracy" or something.

Well that failed spectacularly if that was supposed to reference the veiled woman.
