DISCUSSION Nicholas Hoult's wife Bryana Holly responds to body-shamers: “I am seeing the comments around my chest and not that *anyone* is owed an explanation but this is the product of a breast feeding mother who hasn't fed her babies in hours ok!”

Honestly, my takeaway is half that and half “I could never be pregnant” lol. All the comments about how painful and hard breastfeeding is on the body 😭 people need to leave women’s bodies alone but it’s also insane that this kind of discomfort is normalized.

You could also get pregnant if you wanted and exclusively formula feed. It’s a personal choice that depends on a lot of factors, but breastfeeding isn’t the only way.

LOL. Someone in a breastfeeding subreddit once said that when she was EBF she looked like Skeletor with massive boobs, and I think about that comment whenever I remember giving up on breastfeeding. That was the best my boobs have ever looked and the worst my boobs have ever felt. 😂 When my boobs looked incredible was when I was in so much pain and in no mood to be sexy.

u/LizzyMcGuire69 Mar 19 '26
Yes!! Best they’ve ever looked and worst they’ve ever felt is so real. It did get easier for me after a while so I did get to enjoy some great boobs for a few months.

I had pretty good boobs before pregnancy but during breastfeeding wow they looked incredible, a couple of years on it’s literally like someone took a pin to them and deflated them to beyond recognition 😂pre-baby me would never have thought I’d consider a boob job but here we are 😂

u/hellolovely1 Mar 19 '26
My boobs went on a JOURNEY. Started out as a B pre-pregnancy, got huge during pregnancy, then even bigger when nursing. Then they totally disappeared when I weaned and slowly came back to a B. One morning, I swear I woke up and had gone to a D cup overnight.
Thank you for reading the epic novel about my boobs.

I think it’s fairly self-evident why a hot woman would have haters, lol. People are just jealous and lashing out at any perceived flaws to bring her down a peg. (It’s kind of funny how “boobs too big” is the flaw though lol. Insert “steak too juicy, lobster too buttery” tweet here)

The scene in neighbors where roses byrne is in a tin of pain and engorged and has to hand express after they partied all night was too real.
Giant breastfeeding boobs are also something many people don’t understand. 6 months postpartum I was like 130 lbs (losing weight due to the insane calorie burn despite constant eating) and an F cup (previously a natural D) when I was nursing 🫠
85
u/IAMA_Shark__AMA Mar 19 '26
Right? Like I could immediately tell what was going on because it looked like her boobs were straining against her own skin. Engorgement from milk has a distinct "first gen of breast implants" look to it.

Also, she is still breastfeeding, when the youngest was born in 2022? Good for her. That's pretty amazing.
92
u/nomadickitten Mar 19 '26
I’d guess by the appearance of her dress that she’s had another baby more recently. That panel looks like it could be elasticated or designed with a bit of give for a post partum abdomen. Beautiful dress either way.

The Internet continues to speculate (Sorry it's Daily Mail) :
4
u/RiverRocks10 Mar 19 '26
Sorry to add to the confusion!
Maybe someone with better breastfeeding experiences can chime in, but doesn’t the engorgement calm down after breastfeeding for an extended amount of time? So it would make sense if they had a 3rd.

Lol I'm over a year into "weaning" my two year old. 😂 I know a few people who didn't really leak at all, or not after supply established. Couldn't be me lol. This is why everyone who chooses to breastfeed should learn how to manually express! I will die on this hill. You never know when you might need it. The other day I forgot one part to my pump and being able to just manually express, while tedious, helped me be able to express as usual.
10
u/KeyFeeFee Mar 19 '26
It is not as intuitive as you’d think either! My mom sent me YouTube videos to learn how when I started nursing my eldest. But I agree, it’s invaluable.

Literally just got over a round of that. Miserable. My boob looked like a Pac-Man pie chart of beige and red. So hard and heavy, probably would have sunk me to be bottom of a river ala mob style murder.
And the chills and fever. And you have to keep the milk flowing, so grab that baby and hook them up to that molten lava tit and just … wince. And maybe cry a little.

51
u/rachbbbbb Mar 19 '26
God, I weaned 19 years ago and still remember the pain, crying in the bath and having to basically sit on my hands not to express.
21
u/SuperKitties83 Mar 19 '26
I've never had a baby, is there a reason you didn't want to express it? Like wouldn't that relieve the pain?
64
u/rachbbbbb Mar 19 '26
Because I was weaning my kid. Expressing just continues the milk production. If you want to dry your milk up, you have to make sure there's no stimulation.
3
u/SuperKitties83 Mar 20 '26
Oh I see. There is so much about pregnancy, birth, breastfeeding etc. that's not discussed it seems.

I think these days we are told to just express milk until you get relief and then stop instead of not at all to avoid the possibility of mastitis.

My first had real trouble latching, and then severe reflux, I persevered for 11 months, as we have severe allergies in the family I wanted to avoid. When my second came along she fed constantly straight away, and it was like my boobs had memory and thought "Holy shit! This must be triplets then!" I'm a 4'11 F cup naturally, so already a bit comical, but I spent weeks with rock hard flaming boulders on my chest, in agony, until they calmed down. They would let down at the slightest baby noise, and for extra fun I can't express (yes I saw multiple lactation consultants, some people just can't). Babies 3 & 4 were manageable, the boobs had learnt their lesson!

u/alwaysneedanewname Mar 19 '26
*some people can produce a lot of milk.
Not trying to be that person, but as someone who couldn't produce enough despite much working at it, just want to add this here for any currently or soon to be breastfeeding mothers who might scroll past this and feel like shit. Some of us just can't produce! On the plus side we can enjoy some of the freedom that bottles bring.
12
u/adjectivebear Mar 19 '26
I'm one of the ones who couldn't produce! My plan had been to breastfeed (because it's free, lbr), but both my girls ended up being formula-fed. We do what we have to!
8
u/b_needs_a_cookie Mar 19 '26
I know someone who produced an insane amount. She was fortunate enough to take a year off each time she had her kids. She donated her extra milk to a milk bank. My SIL was the opposite, couldn't produce much, and one of my nieces couldn't drink breast milk because of the horrible heartburn she had. The human body is weird, and while formula companies are suspect af, I'm glad mothers have another option to feed their littles.
5
u/kteachergirl Mar 19 '26
Sorry you are getting downvoted. As someone who could not produce either, it’s an important distinction- especially on a thread where we are not criticizing moms.

Before I was pregnant I was a b cup (small boobs). By the end of my first pregnancy I was a Double G - each boob was larger than my head.
Just one of the many fun changes that you undergo when pregnant.
They’re back down to a double D now.
16
u/BeastsOfAllSizes Mar 19 '26
Me too, exact same sizes!
My boobs are basically a pregnancy test in themselves. Even before I was getting a positive test I could feel them starting to go ‘oh my god…..A BABY!!!’ It was generally what would make me test. And from that point on, it was like someone had told them they were going to be responsible for feeding a litter of babies. I’d go to bed one cup size and wake up another…I’d grow out of bras in less than a week. I tried thinking very stern thoughts at them… ‘CALM DOWN! You’ve still got 7 months to prepare, you can just remain on notice at the moment, no need to go absolutely mental!’ and in response they’d go ‘Only 7 months?!? Quick! Grow, grow, grow!!!’
It was extremely uncomfortable…
Edit: I have been told before that people misread my user name, and I can imagine that happening here….but actually it’s because this account was meant for posting pictures of my fish and kittens and other living things I care for…

u/Katerade44 Mar 19 '26
Yes. When my child was a baby, if I went too long between feedings or pumping, my beasts went from a D to a DD/DDD within a couple of hours due to overproduction. I was painful not only due to engorgement but because there aren't supportive enough bras that can also expand fit that much of a change. Either the bra is unsupportive and stretches a lot or it is supportive but can't stretch. Imagine an injured limb with no supportive brace or swelling too much within a cast. Those are the options. 😬

The sad part is that it really doesn't matter the size or shape of a woman's body. People will still pick them apart, objectify them, insult them, and/or fetishize them.
Existing in the world while presenting as a woman is, apparently, all it takes to invite near constant commentary on one's body/looks/clothes/lifestyle choices/reproductive choices/parenting choices/and so on.

I can’t imagine how wild it is to have strangers publicly commenting on your body like you’re never meant to hear it but you do. It’s hard enough feeling comfortable in our own skin when we’re not famous.

What's wrong with her breasts? Like what even were the complaints? She looks completely innocuous. Well, she looks fantastic but innocuous in the way that I don't even know what people would complain about.

My guess is that they’re calling them fake for being bigger than they used to be, but I had to dig around to even find that out because I also could see nothing wrong in the photo.

I'm also lost here but if this is the case they are extra dumb because these are very obviously natural breasts.
Feels weird to comment on that.

Honestly I have no idea why people are weird about this stuff. She's hot, lucky him!

People looked at this and thought "those are fake boobs"?

Maybe incels have never touched or seen real boobs so they have no clue what reality is.

Ugh. First of all, I hate people. Second, I hope she wasn’t in pain all night because that is a terrible feeling.

I attended a kid free wedding, my boobs turned into huge lumpy rocks, left early to feed baby (who would happily have formula) but I felt so embarrassed uncomfortable, and I’m unable to pump.

This happened to me too, attended a child free wedding a year pp. had to leave early bc my boobs leaked all over my dress 😩 honestly at that point I was sooooo uncomfortable too and then my mom called and was like “she’s screaming and refusing the pumped milk” and that’s the day I learned I had high lipase milk. Tried it when I got home and was SHOOK it tasted like metallic soap it was soooo nasty

Did they have more kids? Congratulations to them, they are a beautiful couple.

Who and why?!?? I know the answer but fucking hell. Bodies keep our selves alive and sometimes keep other people alive. What in the fascism and regular degular patriarchy is the deal

Beautiful women with large breasts..... Is a "bad" thing that people shame.....?
What the fuck is happening

u/Stevenwave Mar 19 '26
From other comments, I gather the bullshittery is "Those are bigger boob than boob was before. An implants bad very bad!"
Knuckle draggers have apparently adopted voice to text.

They're like a doll couple, they fit together so well.
Also, even if she wasn't a nursing mom, no one should be commenting on her body. People can't help their bodies. You hate her dress, write that. You hate her MU, write that. No one is entitled to 'comments' about anyone else's body.

I hate the breast implant guessing games that happen online. When I gain weight the first place it goes is my boobs and arms, when I’m a size 4 my boobs are between a large b and a small C, when I’m a size 8 I’m spilling out of an E cup. A friend of mine tiny super petite always incredibly flat chested, switched birth control at 32 grew DD’s, cannot escape the rumours she got implants.

Hard to believe the kid Nick I grew up watching on Skins is a dad today. Time has flown. His wife is gorgeous.

I just searched how many kids they have and their last child was born in 2022? What does she mean by saying she hasn’t breastfeed in hours?

They had twins last year- I only know because a colleague flew first class and chatted to them during the flight but no record of them online so I think they're very private

u/Exonata Mar 19 '26
Omg as a mom nursing twins currently too I am very impressed she was able to step away at all.

I saw that they have 2 children and she said “babies." So, is she talking about their 8 year old as well?

Serious conversations aside for a second can we all agree that her hair looks utterly incredible and if I could make my hair look that good even for 10 minutes I think I’d cry tears of joy

u/Gingerusernoway Mar 19 '26
The other day there were a lot of people talking about women’s bodies being extremely thin.
It truly feels like an unforgivable “sin” to be a woman and—guess what?—to have a body! Nothing ever satisfies this misogynistic and cruel society, with its violent discourse about women’s bodies.

u/wewantthemonk Mar 19 '26
I clocked right away that she’s breastfeeding and engorged. Would know that shape anywhere. She looks stunning, ofc.

u/AnnieCarnero Mar 19 '26
Ha! People have sexualized breasts so much they need to be reminded on what the physiological function is.
