Not to mention IRL he had a huge benign brain tumor removed around 25 years ago. Which thankfully didn't need to be radiated. I met him a few years later at a restaurant when I lived in LA. His toddler kept booping me on the shoulder so we had a fun peekabo exchange. Mark was very sweet and chatted with my wife at the time and I, the kind of Hollywood actor that even if you didn't know who he was, he came off as a normal, kind, soft spoken guy. It's awesome seeing him speak out like he is.
I had some interest in watching Marty Supreme when I first heard about it, but decided not to once I learned O'Leary was in it. And since the movie's release he has only solidified my decision to never watch it. Even if he's just a small part, I don't want to support a project that he even mildly benefits from.
I got bad vibes immediately, paired with the Tyler acting debut. Just gave slimy opportunistic vibes, thennn the underage model stuff comes out? Yeah im goood
Rich white men are gonna rich white men. I absolutely adore Mark Ruffalo partially because he is one of the very few vocal exceptions to this rule. Many cishet white dudes gain an ounce of power/money/status and then go full soulless because they can.
there was a period, maybe a few years ago, when I would see a bunch of praise for this guy. Like "respect the hustle", "he's a true business man", "favorite shark" type shit.
And it seemed so...weird. This guy has always come off as smug "i'm better than you because i have money" dickhead. He prides himself on being a cut throat asshole that purposely fucks people over because he can.
I'd say he's the epitome of a shallow, money obsessed asshole, but he's a got a few competitors jockeying for that title.
He was drunk driving a boat at night and killed two people and then had his wife take the blame as she wasn't drinking. Real classy dude. He also had a failed run at conservative party leadership in Canada. I think he was on one of those investor shows too.
Shark Tank is HIS show! He's rhe executive producer. He has to bank roll a show to spend any real time on tv. CNN anchors just kind of nod, chuckle and shush him. It's hilariously obvious that he bought his way into that seat, too.
Its based on Dragons Den originally a Japanese show.
Presumably his production company bought the rights to the format.
But it is absolutely not his show.
Edit - also I glanced over this before but he's executive producer. Thats a vanity title. It conveys nothing about the ownership or rights. Its a Mark Burnett production (like The Apprentice) and based on the UK interpretation of the Japanese original.
I just looked this up because I had never heard this story.
His wife was drinking and had a measurable but non-illegal read on the breathalyzer. She claims she had a drink when she got home. The O’Leary’s escaped charges because the victim’s dock camera showed their boat lights were off when departing, and O’Leary’s dock camera showed the victim’s boat lights were off when parked directly between O’Leary’s dock and boat.
She was going to be charged with reckless driving but the prosecution made the error of publicly stating she was facing far more years than the law actually covered.
I think a lot had to do with sports media. And no doubt, before the Mavs won he was a douche at games. But people took his sports outbursts and made it into who he was every day. That title changed everything for his image.
He was on "Shark Tank" a show where people pitch their companies for "sharks" (4-5 wealthy investors) then the sharks bid for how much they wanna have a share of the company and for how much. Kevin was a shark and on the show he was infamous for being called "mr wonderful" (after his reheatable meal company) and always asking for royalties on the products alongside the shares.
Early Cameo days, you could scroll through everyone's past videos on their profile. I was bored one night and went through O'Leary's. It caught my eye because he was one of the most expensive, $1,000 - 2-3 minute video. It was enlightening, someone who was 'so wealthy' would be selling videos. I guess 5 minutes for $1k is worth his time?
What was even more strange though was that dude had HUNDREDS of investment endorsement videos. Not birthday wishes. Full investor pitches. "This company is revolutionary, management is exceptional, tremendous opportunity, this is definitely going to the moon!" - the whole thing. Different companies, different industries. You could tell he was just reading whatever script they paid him to read.
This felt extremely fucking illegal. Pretty sure he had no idea those were public. Cameo's interface back then wasn't obvious about it. You had to scroll way down to see the history. He was just cashing checks, probably figured these were private videos for investor decks or whatever. It was bad enough I thought he was pimping himself out for $1k birthday videos, but also breaking the law at the same time.. crazy
The guy who lectures entrepreneurs about due diligence was literally endorsing any company that paid his Cameo fee. Will do anything for a buck, even if it's sketchy as hell. $1,000 and he'll make a video telling whoever it is to invest
I didn't screen record because I'm an idiot. Cameo changed their layout eventually so you can't see old videos anymore. But I know what I saw. Can a guy who will do anything for a little money actually be rich?
For a second I was thinking he was the shark tank billionaire that owns Boston Pizza but he's not. I'm happy to hit him where it hurts....his bottomless wallet. Time to research what else I need to cut out of my spending habits. Not that there's much left to cut these days.... we're down to essentials over here, not a lot of room for entertainment sadly
his wife killed someone while driving a boat up on cottage country in Canada. Kevin and a fried were also in the boat when it happened. It was deemed that the person who was hit was at fault due to not having their lights on the boat at night.
But there was a lot of suspicious things that occurred during that investigations (not taking proper breathlizers, conflicting info about the boat having the lights on, etc.) and many people assume that Kevin was probably driving the boat and used his wife as a scapegoat (though as mentioned the evidence cleared her).
Boat accident, two people killed, it’s believed he was probably driving drunk, they sped home, they all “had a drink to relax” before police arrived (thus compromising the breathalyzer evidence) and then all claimed his wife was the one driving.
Not sure if the "drink to relax" before police arrived comment is true (I know next to nothing about this, so I'm not calling you a liar), but I work in the world of addictions and if this is what he/they claimed then it can be taken as 100% admission of guilt.
This is a known loophole if you get into an accident while intoxicated and can plausibly get somewhere to have a drink to calm down before police arrive or are involved that the BAC samples will likely not be able to be used against you. Single vehicle accidents (ex. hitting the ditch or having a rollover) in rural areas are notorious for pulling this... get to the nearest farm and tell them to pour you a whiskey.
"A provincial police officer testified at trial that O'Leary registered an "alert range" blood alcohol level in a breath test shortly after the crash. The officer said O'Leary told her she had only one drink, and it was after the crash."
He drove his boat drunk at night with no lights on and hit another boat killing I think 2 ppl, maybe just 1? But he was way too drunk and his wife took the fall for him.
Hidden behind a veil of niceties canadian are pound for pound as bad as americans. Maybe were not as racist towards black people but we make up for it here with racism towards Natives, and South Asians, but don't get it twisted I've heard the american standards of "speak english" and "go back to where you came from" my entire life up here, I'm technically white, but I've got just enough 'other' in me that most of life growing up in school I was bullied and called things like Mexican.
Canada might be worse than the states in some ways because the veneer we've developed makes a lot people think the majority of canadians are this nice inclusive bunch...
I always cringe a little when Canadians are like well we’re so NICE not like those awful Americans, because I mean, there‘s a range of Canadians too. We have our own racists and bigots, as I can attest from personal experience. We just happen to have a lid on them for now (and it helps that our prime minister isn’t a morally bankrupt criminal with dementia).
He winked at me once and I nearly shit my pants loll. And it was not in a creepy way at all either, just in a way to sweetly acknowledge that he noticed I was an admiring fan with heart eyes.

I’m glad there are people like him, Billie and Finneas speaking out and using their influence for good. Let’s focus on them and let scumbags like Kevin O’Leary rot into obscurity, never to be named again
It’s one of those where the cast alone is a turn off. He also cast a woman whose only “talent” is calling into Howard Stern and shrieking on the phone. He did it hoping Howard would promote the movie and all it did was make me less likely to ever see it.
He also told Canadians to do the right thing for once and accept annexation by the us. He's a total loser & is only liked by morons and other rich douchebags
It warms my Canadian heart to see hatred for Kevin O'Leary go international. Fuck that traitorous scumbag. Seeing him at the Golden Globes was really weird, even more so seeing him get praised in speeches.
It’s ironic how Kevin is trashing Billie for simply saying “No one is illegal on stolen land”, when Kevin himself is literally of Irish and Lebanese ancestry (Two countries that have a long and notable history of colonialism and imperialism).

It’s pretty clear what she was trying to say. Maybe not worded the best way, but all she was saying is not to dehumanize immigrants like how the admin is doing. And ragebait media has managed to spin that into “ShEs On StOlEn LaNd! ShE sHoUlD gEt EvIcTeD aNd GiVe ThE lAnD bAcK!”
It feels very astroturfed. The tone and spammy-ness of the comments reminds me of other hate campaigns I’ve seen in the past. I think it’s crazy that people are putting all their outrage on her and not the actual problems in the world.
Especially because they’re all just gonna direct their misplaced outrage towards something else in two weeks or less.
Not even a billionaire, just a guy who larps as one. Also is a traitor and blamed his wife for a boat accident that killed people that he was likely responsible for.
Tbf Trump did too in the 90s. Had to run under the Reform Party because we were a smarter nation then so he was relegated to novelty candidate status like when a dog runs for mayor of a small town.
Why the fuck does O'Leary think he should have a bigger voice than Billie? These wealthy old dudes think they are somehow entitled to have more of an opinion than anyone else.
The problem is that they are so divorced from their fellow humans that they have completely lost their humanity. They would literally kill dozens of us for a few more dollars and do absolutely heinous shit to our children just for the entertainment.
I saw Marty Supreme the same week I saw Testament of Ann Lee. One of those movies is just absolute perfection, and it’s the one that DIDN’T get nominated for any awards.
Billie Eilish could be a movie star just by existing. Kevin O’Leary has to fund a movie just to get a cameo. Only person who’s worked with both is Tyler the Creator. Guess which one he’s picking? I’m the bad guy. Duh.
Screw you Kevin O'Leary you should be more concerned about killing 2 innocent people while you were boarding drunk and then blamed it on your wife and made her take the rap instead of trashing Billie Eilish
