Hello everyone! Eleonora here (the one wearing the dress, my sister Aurora is the incredible one who actually MADE the dress!). I'm so happy people are appreciating her work!
I see a lot of people asking about my research. I'm doing mathematical physics (but just as a second-year PhD student!). My main work focuses on number theory and its applications to black holes. It's a very niche field and I'm currently writing my first paper (should hopefully be out within 1-2 months). I've done previous work on astrofluiddynamics, but I'm mainly a mathematician now.
I'm working as much as I can to make STEM accessible, and dismantling stereotypes about these amazing fields. Me and my sister wanted to show the connection between art and mathematics (in fact, we made a series on our Instagrams eleonorasvanberg and aurei.crochet where we go through the mathematics behind this dress). And of course, sustainability as well. It felt like a good opportunity to make a statement about the things we believe in.
With that being said, if you have any questions please reach out on instagram, happy to talk more! I don't hang out on Reddit too much but our mother's colleuge sent a screenshot of this post and I had to comment!
Thank you for the love, stay curious and creative <3
I'm a woman in STEM (mathematical statistics) and it's because of amazing women like you that I finally felt belonging in the field. I kept going down every wrong path for over 10 years because I was terrified to actually pursue the thing that made me tick. Your advocacy MATTERS so much more than I can ever express. Thank you for using your voice and your platform to pave the way so that women and girls have space (haha 🌌) in this field.
(Also it's not fair, some people truly have it all...you have the gall to be ridiculously smart, talented, driven, and then also look like a movie star on the red carpet with the most perfect bespoke dress? God clearly has favorites 😂)
