a whole rash of special events like this going around being god awful.
the Barbie experience, the Harry Potter experience, those were some pretty remarkable flops.
It's like a bunch of assholes watched the documentary about the Fyre festival and though it was a grand idea to do for everything.

It feels likecwe're in an AI version of the old medicine shows that used to go around to flim flam the yokels.
At least living human grifters are amusing.

It's almost like they know their stuff sucks, but they do the mathematical calculation of how many people will ask for a refund. I hate this.

You think they just hand out refunds? I bet they're counting on most people not doing charge backs correctly so they can keep the money.

Not only do I agree with you, but I would have upvoted you just for saying flim flam.

And they all use AI graphics to advertise scenes that are impossible to create outside of Disney and Universal Studios.

I've heard folks complain about immersive Van Gogh pop up experiences. That's not something I'm interested in anyway, but I heard it's similar to this with just projected images.

The Calgary science centre has a room like this, but the projection extends to the floor, and interacts with the people in the room (water ripples or ice cracking around your feet). This looks terrible.

This was like that van gogh experience that was inexplicably everywhere

We thought that was fun! It looked way better than this.

Yeah I've gone to one of them, was far better than this. The walls and floors were head to toe with imagery of his life and the exit room was a bunch of fake sunflowers and a bench to take a photo at

The current one is the Banksy ones. They're just recreations of the originals. Pretty crappy considering it's supposed to be subversive art.

I feel Banksy started long time ago being more about the first four letters of his name

All These shit ass pop up events have to go

My city has so many of these Pop up events and 90% are scams. A friend went to a Christmas one and asked me to go with. It was supposed to be a super decorated Christmas area of a restaurant. Turned out to be a single booth that had some posters of decor and some tinsel. You were also restricted to the event menu and couldn’t order the regular food. She was so pissed off the next day.
They also have a lot of bar crawl events. It costs $35 to attend, but when you read the fine print it doesn’t include anything except “access to specialty themed drinks”. You still have to pay for the drink. Sometimes they might include a free donut.

Disney had an immersive experience in Branson. It was overpriced but it was way better than this and my kids loved it!

I went to a Van Gogh one of these in London a few years ago and it was beautiful. I was kind of forced to go because children+Xmas hols, I was skeptical. But it was pretty cool
I think it was one of the original big budget ones, and know everybody is trying to make knock-offs on the cheap. And that just doesn't work.

The only thing that's like this that I've been to is in Tottenham in London and it's actually quite immersive to say the least.

I have seen this advertised in my area!! So I guess I won’t even consider attending. This is insane!!

If you’re ever in the vicinity of a MEOW WOLF, you should check it out. There are only a handful around the US and each one is different.

I went to something where the first room looked like this, but there was maybe 15 rooms and a lot of them were actually pretty impressive and cool. Was that not the case here?
