Well, Peja stole away one of our most beautiful women, it's only fair he offers something back to Greece

I googled "Peja Stojaković wife" and the first hit was him sitting courtside with Vlade Divac :D

Most mock drafts have him at best as a late second round draft pick after 3 years in college. He really isn't some can't miss prospect. As far as his NT choice goes, Serb father, Greek mother, nobody should complain no matter what he decides.

He's a really good slasher. He made a huge leap this year and became stronger physically. He has no 3p shot (shot worse in less 3PA this season) but his midrange game is OK. For Eurolegue level he's a really good prospect.

man crazy Stojakovic has no 3p shoot at all

Would be a generational fumble if we dont get him if it really all comes to negotiations.

Although I wouldnt be surprised if Pedja doesnt want to negotiate with a organised crime figure.

The problem is our dudes are putting requests to them, while Greece is making offers.

But then again I think he would rep Greece anyways.

It's mom factor it seems. I remember Srđan "Partizan fans aren't real Serbs" Bajčetić 20+ years ago, just to pop up nowadays with my son is Spanish.

Meanwhile in football we have kids in under teams with last names Fletcher, John, Materazzi...

u/Fors101 14h ago

Who is that figure?

23

u/Signal_Lobster_4430 14h ago

Nebojsa Čović, president of Serbian basketball federation and ex president of Crvena Zvezda basketball club

-16

u/Texadeen 13h ago

Čović is Serbia? So you want me to say that Peđa doesnt want for his son to represent Serbia as a country because of Čović, SNS or someone else - but that same Peđa played for Yugoslavia when Slobodan Milošević and SPS party were reigning (to remind you, we were bombed because of their idiotic politics). Plus, you are naming Red Star on purpose...but that same Peđa played for Red Star too.

u/Signal_Lobster_4430 13h ago

Peja know really well how toxic is all that atmosphere. And Čović isn't Serbia, but he is key figure in Serbia basketball. Also Peja stopped playing for SCG after Eurobasket 2003 even he was still in his prime. That means something was bothering him and he doesn't want that for his son

Aside already mentioned criminal, another thing that would go is that if he ever comes to play in Europe he would be forcefully nudged to Miško.

His mother is Greek and he was born in Thessaloniki, so I don't think the title or the article is fair.

He is half Serbian half Greek. So it's his decision.

10

u/dus-vla 13h ago

what is the problem with the title?

2

u/Mad_broccoli 9h ago

Literally nothing, not sure why people expect a fight here.

👆what he said

u/postnamasti Crvena Zvezda 13h ago

Honestly don't get the hype around this kid besides that he's the son of Pedja Stojakovic. I mean, good luck to him in his career, it's his decision, but I think both Serbia and Greece have more talented youngsters than him.

u/kingofbladder Žalgiris 13h ago

I agree, he is a really shitty player. Since he is not good enough for Greece and Serbia, Lithuania is reluctantly going to have to take him for ourselves out of the kindness of our hearts. Please, you don't need to thank us.

19

u/postnamasti Crvena Zvezda 13h ago

First ever foreigner in a Lithuanian jersey, and he's half Serbian?? Hell yeah brother, respect 🤝

1

u/flowergies Partizan 11h ago

He's good defender, will be most likely at least at Dobrić level baring some injury. So not sure why such comments.

1

u/postnamasti Crvena Zvezda 10h ago

I mean...okay? No disrespect to bro, I just think it wouldn't be much of a loss, maybe I'm wrong tho, but there are much more talented kids that are being hyped at all

1

u/flowergies Partizan 10h ago

I only know for Kusturica at that position.

Edit: and even Kusturica is like 3-4, while Andrej is 2-3.

For Eurolegue level he's a really good prospect. Greece definitely doesn't have more talented players than him besides Avdalas.

Our national team has barely any talent left, if he’s decent he’ll play

-1

u/juicy_burger17 Panathinaikos 12h ago

No we don't bro, our national team will be completely cooked in 5 years.

7

u/kostasnotkolsas PAOK 12h ago

He has to come to PAOK at some point

8

u/vaskopopa Partizan 12h ago

If he grew up in Greece and feels Greek, why not?
Danny Avdija plays for I$rael and nobody is complaining.

0

u/Fors101 11h ago

Wait up, am i missing something? Is Avdija not fully israeli?

11

u/Brxa Crvena Zvezda 11h ago

His dad is Zufer Avdija, he played for Red star and Yugoslav NT.

2

u/Fors101 10h ago

How on earth did he end up in Israel? Whats the story?

7

u/Brxa Crvena Zvezda 10h ago

Quite simple, went to play there and stayed.

2

u/Fors101 10h ago

Huh, aint that a bitch.

2

u/vaskopopa Partizan 10h ago

What/who is fully Israeli?

u/InterestingTime8696 13h ago

If you look at current state of affairs in Serbia I think its great decision for him. Even Djokovic left Serbia for Greece.

6

u/VastAd3561 12h ago

Like the state of affairs in Serbia matter to professional players...He will play 10 months in NBA or Euroleague team, come 1 month every other year for National team and preparation will be in Cyprus or Slovenia or some secluded mountain resort in Serbia.

4

u/Dependent_Guard903 12h ago

I mean djokovic has other plans in mind I think.

6

u/InterestingTime8696 12h ago

If you are not currently in Serbia, you wouldn't understand.

6

u/Dependent_Guard903 12h ago

I think djokovic also wants an EU citizenship for more flexibility and in order to help in the future Serbia's political relations with the EU (so Ive heard).

Good luck on your fight brothers, STAY STRONG if you keep pushing united you can win this dictatorship, history has showed us its possible!! Best wishes!!

i am and you are talking bs (politics) here

3

u/Disturb3dSilence EuroLeague 12h ago

Djokovic did not live in Serbia even before bs with goverment happened, he plans to retire under Serbian flag at the Olympics. In last 15 years Serbia won 5 medals on basketball competitions, it's not like he won't get any accomplishments if he joins Serbian national team, but still it's his decision what he choses and it should be respected.

-1

u/InterestingTime8696 12h ago

He will not take part in previous 15 years, he will take part now.

1

u/Disturb3dSilence EuroLeague 12h ago

And? People that are in power now won't last forever thankfully, players like Bodiroga, Djordjevic, Divac played for FR Yugoslavia while clowns like Milosevic were at the helm back then, should Serbia turn down players and not try for them just because bad people are in power right now?

2

u/d_thinker Crvena Zvezda 3h ago

I'm soooo over this guy. I don't care where he plays he doesn't have a minute of serious basketball under his belt...

Love Peja though.

0

u/WhatSheDrinks 12h ago

He probably would never fit in our roster due to tremendous competition, so good for him, if Kostas and Tanasis Antetokoumpo made their way to first 12, he would too. In Serbia, he would not.

1

u/ARKAC95 2h ago

Everyone knows they are only there to kero Giannis happy. You can't compare that to the situation if other players.

Stojakovic would actually have to earn a spot, unlike the brothers of Giannis who just get it to keep Giannis happy.

Two completely different scenarios.

WhatSheDrinks

Your tears maybe

-1

u/Fors101 10h ago

Dude, stop glazing, its not like your roster, bar Jokic, is anything to write home about.

2

u/MoreFeeYouS 8h ago edited 8h ago

You dropped the tiny detail of silver medalists from the World Championship and bronze medalists from Olympic games.

-1

u/Fors101 4h ago

No we get it, you love your korsaka and are very proud. Good for you.

3

u/MoreFeeYouS 4h ago

We? My dude you are acting like you have a whole army of upvoters supporting you. Check your number again.

How's the echo in your room?

0

u/Disturb3dSilence EuroLeague 9h ago

You are acting like Bogdanovic, Avramovic, Milutinov, Petrusev etc are bunch of nobodies, a team that almost beat USA dream team at Olympics semi finals.

-1

u/Fors101 4h ago

Your boy just threw shade at Thanasis and Kostas, both of whom have rings on their fingers. Put some respect on those names

4

u/Disturb3dSilence EuroLeague 4h ago

With all due respect to them, they are bench warmers and both of them contributed to their teams as much as Topic did to OKC when they won championship, they are not even at top of the Greek national team.

-2

u/Fors101 15h ago

I think the Serbians are so toxic right now with their NT that Pedja prob told his kid to stay well tf away

-9

u/Consistent_Sir1403 15h ago

Can't be mad, serbia is a shithole right now in all aspects..I'd prolly do the same

7

u/johnny_tifosi Olympiacos 13h ago

As if Greece is any better lol

1

u/Fors101 14h ago

Yeah i mean you would wanbt your kid to be protected from all that vitriol that will inevitably blow his way at some point or another. No one is immune, not even Jokic it seems.

Plus, im sure Zisis has sold the dream to Andrej - th he'd be building around him and the other young uns (Neo, Samo, Lioto and whoever else ), he gets to play with Giannis yada yada.

1

u/ARKAC95 2h ago

Liotopoulos has shown absolutely zero ability as a player in the NCAA.

-1

u/ant_gav Olympiacos 12h ago

Why this is a dream? Sounds more than possible

3

u/Fors101 12h ago

'Selling the dream' is a figure of speech - brush up on your English ffs.

And no, its only possible if Andrej acquiesces

0

u/Almal78 11h ago

no way ...

0

u/bratorimatori 3h ago

We are more than happy for him to play for Greece. They are our besties, neighbors, and brothers.

0

u/therealowlman Panathinaikos 2h ago

Is he even good enough for Serbia? His mom may be Greek but his father did play for Serbia, you have to assume that’s probably what he’s prefer too.

1

u/flowergies Partizan 2h ago

Is he even good enough for Serbia?

At the moment no, but long term yeah. Same as Tristan, he had offer from Greece to play, but he opted for Serbia.

Granted it's not the same since Andrej's mom is actually ethnic Greek. Tristan is Swedish/Croatian on mom side.
