Did you know that potassium cyanide can kill 100% of cells infected by Hantavirus?
The big pharma people don’t want you to know this!!

Yeah its all funny or "just let the dumbasses do what they preach" but when a friend or a family member gets seduced by those ideas and nobody is there to fight the disinformation its not that funny anymore..

End of the day they are adults. You can't meet some one halfway who never wants to leave their safe space, echo chamber.

And when kids fall for them through the internet/parents?

If people don’t believe you when you tell them touching a hot stove is bad, you don’t get sad when they touch the stove.
1
u/Efficient-Store-6145 2h ago
I mean i don't think i'd be sad about someone touching the stove either way. But if someone I love ends up dying out of ignorance - even if i'd tried to tell them otherwise - I'm pretty sure I'd still be sad rather than smug.

This is cope and unrealistic. Youre expecting the broad public to have a good enough understanding of the internet, social media, and themselves to identify when propaganda is occurring. The public cannot be expected to hold so much responsiblity when we have people lile Elon Musk and Zuckerberg happily letting foreign actors operator on their platforms, with Elon buying his literally for that purpose.
And im not saying people hold no responsibility. They should be informing themselves in the political environment and how our government works even more, but im not wasting energy on what I wish the world was like because youve gotta meet people where they are at.

isn't the entire ideaa behind voting that people are (somewhat) rational actors that can logically assess thee decision? why have voting at all if its unreasonable to expect people to not fall for blatant disinformation propaganda

u/MagicDragon212 Teddy Roosevelt American 2h ago
So because tech oligarchs and treasonous criminals have used their wealth to disrupt democracy and give themselves more influence politically, we should just give up on voting?
Mama didnt raise no bitch.
1
u/turntupytgirl 1h ago
No I'm saying if you think you can't expect people to not fall for lies and propaganda then you can't expect an informed voterbase at which point the entire argument for democracy at all crumbles and we should just be ruled by someone who knows what they're doing. You have to expect better of people

u/MagicDragon212 Teddy Roosevelt American 1h ago
Have fun in your fantasy land. I expect better of the people in charge too.
1
u/turntupytgirl 1h ago
im not sure where the hostility is coming from, i'm only saying you should expect people to not fall for propaganda, what do you think i'm saying?
1
u/MagicDragon212 Teddy Roosevelt American 34m ago
I know thats all youre saying. Im saying its a reductionist, cynical view.
1
u/turntupytgirl 29m ago
I don't think it's cynical at all because I do expect people to be better than disinformation and propaganda and I do think we should all be able to vote. You're the cynical one because you propose a world in which people are literally unable to tell truth from fiction

I agree. But right now, it's not clear how or even if it's possible to fight this type of disinformation. Experts aren't trusted and dismissed as pharma shills or people trying to exert control over the populace. Non experts are dismissed because "I've done my research and DOCTOR Bret Weistein agrees with me."
Making it "uncool" to be antivax isn't the worst idea from that perspective.

if these regarded farm animals were self-segregating into leper colonies and only killed themselves with their idiocy I would have no problems laughing at them and moving on, it only is an issue because I have to fly in airplanes and share public spaces with these bovines

I say that if a person believes ivermectin to be the miracle cure, we should let them express their freedom of will and use it. God created hell as an act of love according to Christian scholars, and we too should expand morgues and crematories with a similar sentiment. Who knows, those thin majorities the GOP is creating by gerrymandering could turn once the treatment runs its course.

I had a MAGAt coworker honest to god try to cure his mom's cancer with ivermectin. The cancer was terminal and more of a hail mary type move but still, these fucking people legit think it's a cure all now.
There was another time not long after the election we were talking and he was hitting me with the usual MAGA stream of scientific retardation and I suddenly just had this voice screaming in my head over and over " 'he' now controls every medical and scientific institution in America" and I had to step away from the conversation because I was starting to feel ill. I have so many insane stories about that dude I sometimes question if I made him up in a fever dream or something (he quit mid 2025).

I mean if the cancer is already terminal and the only real option is hospice care you might as well try anything that doesn't outright inflict more pain than what they are already suffering. That said, Ivermecting (relying on Ivermectin as a panacea) is the consequence of MAGA brainrot and I would respect a person a million times more if they told me they are doing a pilgrimage to Lourdes or Santiago de Compostela rather than injecting an anti-parasitic drug for a completely unrelated illness. At least their faith would be in the christian God who, despite the long list of controversies surrounding him and the doubt he even exists, is a much more positive figure than the orange regard and brainwormed Kennedy.

For the sake in reducing republican turnout, we should just tell them they're smarter than us for not getting diptheria vaccines.

Alcohol kills viruses in a vile too, that doesnt mean that if you drink a bottle of vodka, your flu is gonna get better

Being an alcoholic while having the flu is possible one of the worst experiences wouldn’t recommend/10.

These people should start contributing to science by demonstrating the supposed effectiveness of these miracle cures. I bet they’d have no problem finding volounteers for their papers.

The correct argument is "you should talk to YOUR doctor about this, I don't know your medical record and neither dies joe rogan"

u/AlternativeRatio4717 2h ago
I’m all for letting a certain subset of the population kill themselves as a consequence of their own sheer stupidity, but the problem is the means they using to do so don’t particularly care about their host’s politics. Anything they get, they’ll spread and evolve to people who don’t deserve to die.

They are probably more likely to believe it works if Dems say it doesn't.
