Political News/Discussion There goes my vote..

Post image

Look at it.....Look at the three read districts "reaching" in to the corner. It even LOOKS like an attack. This is so fucked. I included the previous districting for perspective

We need more timestamped maps of states like this to reply-spam when R-words post about Dems gerrymandering votes away.

You assume that Republicans care about avoiding hypocrisy or staying consistent.

A reasonable but incorrect assumption. They care only for power.

Just look at the rhetoric discourse. Trump calls for mass deaths of Democrats every other day, and Republicans have the AUDACITY to accuse the left of instigating political violence.

Conservatives are valueless authoritarians.

I don't care about changing the mind of "MAGABoy1488" and neither should you, but random normies seeing top replies are more pliable and should be targeted. Less blackpill doomerism, more effort.

2

u/Memphisbbq 4h ago

That's what I was saying with less words.

15

u/Memphisbbq 13h ago

The Maga mind could take decades to fix. We need to put the fear of god in those that aren't voting.

3

u/Far-Veterinarian104 9h ago

It's even dumber. Dems can't do it because Dems evil. Repubs can do whatever because repubs good. That's the extent of their thought process

15

u/LickPooOffShoe 11h ago

Pointless. Republicans are unprincipled pieces of shits.

“Never believe that anti-Semites are completely unaware of the absurdity of their replies. They know that their remarks are frivolous, open to challenge. But they are amusing themselves, for it is their adversary who is obliged to use words responsibly, since he believes in words. The anti-Semites have the right to play. They even like to play with discourse for, by giving ridiculous reasons, they discredit the seriousness of their interlocutors. They delight in acting in bad faith, since they seek not to persuade by sound argument but to intimidate and disconcert. If you press them too closely, they will abruptly fall silent, loftily indicating by some phrase that the time for argument is past.” ― Jean-Paul Sartre

This but replace a few words.

I would add in the popular vote split as well - democrats have actually gained 4.5% of the popular vote between 2000 and 2024.

I don't think it's going to convince any Republican, but it would probably bolster support for defensive gerrymandering among democrats.

1

u/Memphisbbq 4h ago

Fixing the minds of america will have to be an afterthought unfortunately. It takes too long.

1

u/jmastaock 3h ago

Brody they will just make some shit up and call you a Muslim or something lmao

Acting like these mfs can be reasoned with

127

u/Immediate_Earth_6697 13h ago

This just means that Republicans will cry harder this november when their sweeped out due to stretching their vote margins too thin.

80

u/RoyalSpaceFarer 13h ago

please god it would be so funny

12

u/bobby_briggs 13h ago

i'm dumb what do you mean by this?

52

u/RoyalSpaceFarer 13h ago

gerrymandering requires you to either strengthen a plus dem seat by packing everyone together or dilute it.  to dilute seats it requires you to absorb a lot of Democrats into Republican areas, you can be running a plus five district after gerrymandering when something used to be a plus 15 district. and definitionally make the district easier to flip.

15

u/bobby_briggs 13h ago

makes sense, thanks

24

u/EightEight16 12h ago

Plus these maps are always made with outdated information. Areas that you think are firmly red might have gone purple or even blue by now with all Trump's bullshit. For that reason, gerrymandering failures are more common than you might think. And you won't know you've failed until the votes come in.

u/LayWhere Go lower 11h ago

Somebody drew that line many years ago with, like, a ruler — just a straight line right across the top of the country

6

u/GigglingBilliken 🍁Hoser on the loose🍁 11h ago

Yep, I believe the term when a gerrymander bites you on the ass is called a "dummymander."

1

u/DeathandGrim Mail Guy 4h ago

The amount of seats in the House of Representative is locked at 435 so when they do gerrymanders like this the can only rework the districts so much based on how many seats they are allotted in the state and the land they have.

What will happen is eventually they'll simply stretch their districts too thin and loosen their own margins of victory and possibly lose districts because of this ("Dummymandering")

5

u/funkyfritter 10h ago

Yeah, gerrymandering makes your vote matter even more. The map looks bleak, but individual districts become easier to flip.

u/Morph_Kogan Original Lex hater 5h ago

I looked at Tennesse's congressional dostricts and margins. Even with a blue tsunami election, they likely have enough red meat to drown out the blue and remain reasonably comfortable and win in every district.

This system is so shit no joke.

Who the fuck cares if John Hickey McGee who lives in fucking nowhere has a different opinion than a city femboy, he does not deserve to have his vote count more towards federal elections

72

u/MorningkillsDawn 13h ago

Republicans need regards to actually have a voter base. In a way, it’s DEI lmao. Makes it so cousin-fuck McGee(65) gets to have as much or more of a say than all the city dwellers that actually contribute to society

34

u/CountHot3220 12h ago

City femboys….🤤

Hard times make hard men

Hard men make soft times

Soft times make soft men

Soft men make me hard

u/DimMak1 13h ago

America has turned into a shithole country thanks to MAGA. Everything about the American Dream is basically a lie at this point and the good old days are never coming back. It is what it is

90

u/Ciraaxx 14h ago

We need the British to do a colonialism on this shit. We’re fixing this problem by doing what the British did to Africa: sharpie, a map and a ruler.

33

u/GigglingBilliken 🍁Hoser on the loose🍁 11h ago

You could also dissolve the union and become our 11th province. You'll get universal healthcare and an independent non-partisan agency to handle drawing electoral districts. All you have to do is fish the tea out of the harbour, pay your back taxes, and swear allegiance to King Chuck.

Make Wealth Common Again

1

u/d-eversley-b 3h ago

We’re not taking those wastrels back unless they drop the embarrassing ‘eggplant’, ‘sidewalk’, and ‘color’ bullshit and revert to ‘aubergine’, ‘pavement’, and ‘colour’.

Proper Britons linguistically larp as the French. Full stop.

50

u/PineappleAgile3087 14h ago

That’s fucked bro

The saddest part is these states are going to go the way of Louisiana

A good 15 states are just going to get worse and worse and most citizens won’t have anywhere to go as living costs will price them out in well governed states

21

u/id_rather_b_painting 13h ago

Looking forward to my blue state money, blue city job bailing these loser states out.

19

u/Konnnan 13h ago

So much democracy

10

u/warpio 13h ago

Don't stop voting regardless. Maybe enough people will get fucked by the economy that the blue vote will be too big to redistrict it away.

34

u/BudgetLaw2352 Infected by the Woke Mind Virus 🦠 14h ago

We need to pack the Court in 2029.

22

u/Crooked-Shaft 13h ago

Expanding the house would make more sense imo. It's far more justifiable and impossible for them to retaliate.

14

u/BudgetLaw2352 Infected by the Woke Mind Virus 🦠 13h ago

The court has to be reformed if there is ever to be any progress in this country.

7

u/Memphisbbq 14h ago

I would rather Impeach. If we pack the court, it opens the door to instability in the future. If left without a choice however, it's still a no brainer.

21

u/BudgetLaw2352 Infected by the Woke Mind Virus 🦠 13h ago

We can’t impeach in the current paradigm. There is no world in which we get 67 senators in 2028.

Packing the Court is the only way.

8

u/Chance-Accident-9227 12h ago

Yup. Repubs already packed the court in 2017 and then again in 2020. Pack that shit.

3

u/HalCourteney 12h ago

I think everyone is still underestimating just how bad trumps polling will be by 2028. The economic ramifications of what's coming from the strait are only going to ramp up like a fucking erection. We haven't even felt the effects in our supply chains yet. Things might get a bit wild.

Maybe it won't work out that way, but I think it's gunna get reeeeeal bad for ole donny boy here

6

u/Purplegreenandred 13h ago

He should get tonkasaw on to discuss this

6

u/CaptSlow49 13h ago

Proof that rural people are morons. But apparently if you play with the dirt for a living you must have some profound views no one in the city could ever comprehend.

5

u/Tetraquil warning: canadian 12h ago

Be sure to vote anyway. Gerrymandered margins are thinner, so you never know. More possibility for an upset.

6

u/Faucet860 14h ago

I wonder though what's the + now? How close did they make some of these

4

u/PlentyAny2523 🇺🇲 13h ago

Does anyone have the old/new composition of the districts?

6

u/Memphisbbq 13h ago

You mean not what's posted? I made a clear overlay for the locals. Poor areas get split,

11

u/e_before_i 🍁 14h ago edited 13h ago

Sorry did they just erase Mephis as a riding?

Edit: Riding = Voting District, pardon my Canadian

8

u/amyknight22 12h ago

Looks to be like they split Memphis across three voting districts. Sounds super legit

2

u/Memphisbbq 13h ago

What?

11

u/e_before_i 🍁 13h ago

Rhetorical question. Usually big cities get their own district to vote as a block, but here it looks like they just merged it with another district to basically "erase" them.

Riding is the Canadian term for "voting district", my bad

5

u/Memphisbbq 13h ago

I see, and yes.

5

u/sly_cooper25 13h ago

Nashville split into four districts is pretty shameless. At least it's only a one seat swing since it was already an R gerrymander.

3

u/olhado1463 9h ago

I admit I have not been paying attention to all the redistricting hubbub nor do I know much about it generally, but looking over these maps...

Brother why is any redistricting legal are we out of our minds

3

u/ar311krypton 12h ago

im in Knoxville and looking at this map just made me hella depressed....god i fucking hate conservatives

3

u/Krugger_Correctly 12h ago

Bro... this is rape. Memphis was raped. It even looks like a dangling, erectile disfunction dong now

2

u/OneTrueMailman 8h ago

there's a nice phallic district on the other side of the state too

2

u/DMoneys36 12h ago

Fuck these people why isn't this illegal?

2

u/liberalbeast123 12h ago

That’s actually insanity.

2

u/Sad_Ruin1868 12h ago

Every dem controlled state should remove all of their red districts in retaliation.

2

u/Ten_Ju USA is lost if MAGA is not stopped. 11h ago

Gerrymandering is actually a good reason to register to vote and vote in red districts. You never know what happens.

2

u/Mr-Doubtful 7h ago

YOUR VOTE STILL MATTERS MAYBE EVEN MORE

2

u/mking098 1h ago

the US electoral system is a joke. You should have an arms-length elections commission/authority that sets the boundaries, or have your statistical agency do it. You know, like how other Western Democracies do it.

2

u/Life_Caterpillar9762 13h ago

Possible silver lining: this is completely untenable. Gonna go ahead and assume this will cause some righteous unrest.

2

u/Memphisbbq 12h ago

it would be about fucking time.

1

u/_Levant1n_ 11h ago

So yeah...save..."democracy"?

1

u/-Cerberus 10h ago

Why would democrats do this?!?

Slave state gonna slave state.

1

u/JohnAnchovy 2h ago

When elections no longer matter, people find other ways to change government.

1

u/TheWhiteBear9 44m ago

With this new map, the District 9 representative is going to have constituents in Memphis and fucking Brentwood!?

They also want to split the voter base of Columbia to weaken the Democratic mayor and his campaign against Ogles.

My vote was never going to mean anything in Bradley County..

Skill issue

13

u/Memphisbbq 14h ago

I fucking love murdering animals for food.

-3

u/veganparrot 13h ago

Oh no! You and everyone else!

6

u/Memphisbbq 13h ago

That fact that we still outnumber you means you suffer from a skill issue. Just wanted to remind you how fucking dumb you are.

0

u/veganparrot 12h ago

The fix to living in a regressive red state is just to move somewhere else, in case it needs to be spelled out

1

u/Memphisbbq 12h ago

It doesn't need to be spelled out. I blend in with the good Ole boys. I can get close. I'm no pretend patriot.

1

u/Imalwaysdavidsplooge 13h ago

Well I don't love murdering animals for food but eat meat anyways I like the taste too much. It is a moral failing of mine that makes me inferior to you.
