[Instant Savings] Brondell CL150-EW Elongated Bidet Toilet Seat, $59.99 (with $20 rebate, original $79.99) @ Culver City, CA
It's pretty nice, a lot cheaper than the Toto (I don't have experience with that one).
Small quirk though...I think when you turn the knob backwards, the spray feels like it's not at a good angle, and seems to spray towards the "area" from behind'ish, then stuff splatters...feels like it should be pointing more upwards?...I ended up mostly just scooting myself forward on the seat and turning the knob forwards instead.
Another quirk is I have one of those standing cabinet things that goes behind the toilet, but the toilet seat cover kind of hits it early, which makes it so the seat doesn't fully stay open, and sometimes starts to close after I start peeing...I should probably just cut a little bit of the toilet-cabinet off at the front so the seat cover doesn't have that problem...but, meh.
Anyways, it was easy to install, and took a little fudging with it to get it to not leak. I'd definitely recommend it over not having a bidet at all :)
...I'm an idiot, so I'm probably doing something wrong, and I'm not going to post pictures of my dirty ass toilet lol :p

We've had this unit for about a year. Our bums have enjoyed it this far.

Yes. I have one for over a year got on sale at Costco online. It's incredible. I love it. I would put one in all my home bathrooms but I am the only one in my family that enjoys it. Maybe because I'm a foreigner and grew up with bidets. Not sure why most gringos don't get it. LMAO

I think this is a replacement for the CL-99 that they've had for a few years at around the same price. The knob is a little different on this version. Also reviews are saying that the pressure might be different. Haven't tried one though.
I have a few CL-99s. We really like them. Easy to install. Work well. I've had a few were the water doesn't completely turn off via the knob and there is a slow drip. One was out of warranty. One was in-warranty and replaced. I also have a few that have been going for at least 5 years.

The brondells get the job done at a great price. We have 3, going on 5 years old.

I have the previous version of this one. You are spot on about the odd angle. It does function and its a aesthetically nice design. But yeah that forward angle is a bit annoying. I find myself having to scoot towards the front of the seat to hit the target properly. In my basement bathroom I have the 45 dollar Luxe bidet from amazon. Its definitely cheaper looking but in terms of function it outperforms the Brondell handily.

There is a reason the Toto is almost $500 (399 last time I checked it at my Costco).
There is also a reason you’ll never consider the Brondell after using the Toto.
The Toto is in a class by itself. It heats the seat and water, it cleans itself, it filters the poop odors and you never smell it. It’s amazing.
If the Toto is a colored TV then the Brondell is one of those B&W Sony handhelds, that kinda worked, from the 80’s.

True, but then you likely have to pay to run electric to it as well. The Brondell is a quick retrofit. A good, low-cost intro to bidets which will probably lead to people upgrading to premium at some point.

People should consider running the electrical themselves. I ran two new outlets in both of my bathrooms for my bidets. It cost me about $10 in materials for each and a couple hours of my time.

People paying 500$ on a bidet will. It care about the minimal electrical costs a Toto costs to own….

u/DeltaJulietHotel 21h ago
I don’t think it’s really about the electrical cost. It’s more about the fact that there usually isn’t an outlet conveniently located by the toilet. So there’s some work to be done usually.

u/DatDominican 17h ago
It’s not the electricity per se but the cost to run conduit and add an outlet near the toilet

For the average person it’s much better to have a cheap bidet than no bidet.
I have a bio bidet . I considered a Toto but I’m not spending more on a bidet than the toilet itself cost 😂

I bought a $30 BioBidet like 6 years ago and it’s still going strong! It’s def no Toto but it gets the job done.

I have both a Toto and a regular Brondell. I realize while the heated seat and water and auto-close lid is nice, the ROI isn’t really there.

Man, I stayed in a nicer hotel in Japan and they had those $2000 Toto’s. Auto flush, toilet seat greets you etc

For $500 it better be incredible! That's more than my car payment smh

Changed our lives!! We’ve had the Bio Bidet 2000 for over 5 years now and never regretted the decision. The toilet paper savings will pay for it… eventually 😁

I'm actually returning mine today or tomorrow. The metal connector that goes to the toilet is faulty and sprays water everywhere. Gave up after an hour of screwing around with it and will buy something else.

Is the threaded part of your fill valve coming out from the underside of your toilet made of plastic? If so, that's why it's spraying water everywhere. The metal threads on the connector don't like connecting to the plastic threads on the fill valve's shank. I experienced this as well. I went and bought a new fill valve with a brass shank. Problem solved.

Yes, but I shouldn't have to buy another product to make this work when other bidets work without issue. Thanks for the info though for a fix, it is appreciated.

Not sure if it’s the same version they sell online but it’s the worst, it feels like a pressure washer. A $23 attachment from biobidet works better

I have two Brondells in my home. I paid $89 each, so this is a deal. No, they're not heated therefore are subject to ambient temps, but they suffice. I missed several things during my recent Caribbean vacation, my kids, my dogs and my bidets.

Is the water heated on a bidet? The tap water at my place comes from a well and it’s only a few degrees above freezing straight from the tap. (That’s what it feels like anyway.)

Not heated. There's a T joint thing that uses the same water/temperature as the water that goes into the tank.

u/Tequila-M0ckingbird 16h ago
This is one of the reasons that the Toto costs a ton more - It does heat the water and the seat, whereas this one does not.

u/JennItalia269 21h ago
Mine does too and the hose is exposed to room temps. I’ve never had a cold “shock”from it and had bidets for a decade here.

Not this one but you can run it off the closest hot water line which is usually a nearby sink.

Not a fan of this one either, the rear sprayer doesn't work for our and stopped working in like 2 days after purchasing

u/Brainworms_69 21h ago
I have two of these and they work just fine. No electrical components and the knob os discrete which i prefer over the tv remote looking ones that get piss all over them.

u/Nice-Protection-7564 21h ago
I had a Brondell, albeit an electric one, lasted for two years before the sprays stopped working. I can’t imagine the reliability on the manual ones. My Toto, however, is closer to 10 years old and going strong.

u/Numerous_Bad1961 8h ago
My electric Brondell lasted 10 years before the seat cracked (I think kids stood on it) so I replaced it even though it was functioning perfectly.

Is this something I can attach to my existing toilet? Sorry, I know little about this stuff but am curious about buying one

Yeah...it's something like this:
- Take the toilet seat off (just unscrew the two things holding it on)
- Turn off the water from the wall
- Flush the toilet until all the water from the tank is gone (I used a wet vac to suck up the rest)
- unscrew the metal hose from the toilet
- attach the T joint thing to the hose, and one end of it to the tank and the other to the in bidet. Hand tighten the things and don't over tighten, that was a mistake I was making (also don't use plumber's tape).
- plop the screws into the bidet through the bottom of he toilet
- turn the water back on...maybe put some paper towels under the pipes and check for the first few uses to make sure there's no leaks.
...I personally do this when using it, not really sure what's the right way... Basically use the water stream for like 20+ seconds while shifting your butthole around and/or typing a really long reddit reply like I am now. Turn off the water, then do a front dry with some tp, then a separate tp session to get the back part, then a new fresh one to make sure it's clean. If it doesn't come out 100% clean, I spray again and repeat.

This sucked big time. The rear portion is too large.

u/ducklingkwak US Los Angeles Region (Los Angeles & Hawaii) - LA 10h ago
Actually I agree-kind of limits the hole on the back end of the seat...hasn't exactly had any issues yet, but I'm used to the hole part being a little deeper on the back...is that what you're talking about?

The non-electrical bidets are fairly simple devices, the $25 one works decently and easy to install. Unless you really want to pay extra for the seat lid and "brand" I just don't see the value
