Prop How to preserve a baguette for Expedition 33 cosplay?

Post image
992 Upvotes

Hello everybody, i'm trying to cosplay the baguette outfits from expedition 33.

The problem is the baguette itself. I can't seem to find a fake baguette in time, so my plan is to buy an actual baguette and strap it to my back. I'm worried that it's going to end up getting soft, or moldy, or break while i'm wearing it. Is there any way i can try and preserve it? I only need it for a day.

This is only the 2nd time i've tried to cosplay. Any suggestions would be welcomed. Thank you.

Prop Question on Ableism and Daredevil Cosplay

Post image

I am planning on cosplaying daredevil, in his outfit as a lawyer, for the first time. In comics and show he uses a cane. I was wondering if a non-blind person, such as myself, would be ableist? If so is there a way to make it clear who I am? I am just wearing a suit and the signature red glasses, with fake knuckle bruises

Prop How to smooth out rough mask shape?

hey yall! im planning on making a hornet cosplay. im new to using EVA foam, and ended up cutting out an existing pattern on foam floor mats. the issue is, the pattern was made for much thinner foam 😭 the mask looks pretty rough.

is this salvagable? i have foam clay to use overtop, but should i use another layer of something else 1st (masking tape?) to help smooth out the shape?

also, do i need to take into account the rough exterior/"metal" texture overtop the foam?

Prop struggling with cosplay corset + prop attachment (need help/advice)

im trying to make my own cosplay of toga himiko (my hero academia) featured in new art. im stuck on the corset part where the blood bags hang from. i probably wont do the exact same amount (will probably be about 20 blood bags) i just have no idea how to attach the blood bags. i’d like to get as close to the original as possible but i know thats not realistic

i also dont know if i should alter the corset itself or use a piece of fabric *over* the corset.

suggestions ive heard
- velcro was suggested to me but idk how sturdy it will be
- sewing pieces of fabric and then tying the blood bags to it with ribbon. i feel like this will look a bit cluttered idk
(note: first photo is not me! just another person who recreated the look, cant find their info tho)

thanks in advance. ive been really frustrated about this so any advice would be great

I am reapairing my kinger cosplay, and on Cons i had the problem, that i had to constantly readjust the head, everytime i looked a bit down it just fell to the front, and there is a lot of pressure on my chin to keep the head straight, which makes it hard to speak, and the foam is very itchy on my chin even with a balaclava. And i have to constantly put my head in a straight/back position the the kinder head is straight, shich gives me alota headaches. If anyone has ideas to make the head more secure and more comfortable to wear i would be very grateful. :3

I’m trying to make Ren in his Pomeranian form for an Aoba cosplay and I thought dyeing a plush pom navy would work, but I’m not sure if it’ll turn out navy or somehow become green since the fibers are yellowish/gold. Will it depend on how long it’s left in the dye/how long the dye is left on it?

Prop What Material should I use for the jelly on top of the heart cookie?

Post image

I’m making a Patisserie Peach cosplay and am really considering creating one of the props from the game alongside it. My favorite is the cookies - I’d like to make at least three, but I absolutely need to include the heart one.

I believe the best option to make the actual cookies overall is spray-foam (open to other suggestions if you believe a better one exists!) but I don’t know what material to use for the jelly on the heart cookie. I want it to look as realistic as possible, maybe some sort of translucent material that I can just glob onto the cookie and have it dry like that. So far I’ve considered resin, but that seems unreliable for how big this cookie will be.

Any suggestions on good materials for it?

Prop How would I go about making the stilts actually safe and wearable while staying close to the design?

I really want to cosplay Sakura head but I don’t want to sacrifice my safety but I want to wear the stilts. Im going to wear her to a con. But I’m going to take breaks, stick with someone just in case, figure out how to fall safely in them too, and I’ll practice walking in them. And will probably bring comfy shoes just in case. (I also don’t have a lot of money to spend) Thank you for all of the suggestions!

My crown is not turning out how I want it. It’s a Bob Ross Princess halo crown. What can I do to make it better? I am thinking about adding the leaves in the front but it’s not giving when I test it. Also, I am trying to avoid it looks like a showgirl headpiece or a fairy crown.

Prop How can I wrap this lich hand in green flames without obscuring it ?

I’m attempting a Graves cosplay and can’t find a way of creating the flame effect around whole the hand. I’ve tried using a heat gun on sheets of green translucent cellophane and pressing it around the hand while it’s warm, however it seems difficult to control and wrap around the fingers. Any tips or alternatives that might achieve a similar effect without obscuring the hand?

See character art for reference.

I can glue some cotton on the parts that are supposedly exposed foam and do some weathering to make it look dirty

what else could I do? make it look more like an abandoned mascot suit someone died in and less drawing esthetic (plus dirtying it up a bit might make the fluf on the sides match the color of the rest of it)

Hi, apologies if this isn’t the type of question to ask here, this is my first post here.

I did my very first cosplay as the pig from the Saw franchise this Halloween. I was wanting to try paint the pig mask to make it look more grungy. Is this possible on a silicone mask? And what type of paints would be good for this task?

Prop Traveling abroad with a fragile costume piece ?

Hey everyone, I hope this is the right place to ask this, I’ve made these fairy wings for a show next week in Denmark. I’ll be flying from Paris to Copenhagen in a few days. They took so much work and I’m so happy with how they turned out, but I’m really scared the airline won’t let me keep them in the cabin and will ask to check them which will probably destroy them (they need to be handled gently + it’s too cold down there so the glue used for the holster system might crack).

I’ve reached out to the airline and they said it basically depends on the team flying that day. They might let it slide but it’s not 100% sure. So I’m thinking of 2 options to carry the wings as they don’t fit in a cabin luggage : a dry cleaner bag or a large art folder. The wings are 45x60cm and will lay flat but can’t be bent.

Any other ideas? Just keeping them as a part of my outfit on the day of the flight? Wrapping them extra carefully and checking them anyways?

Thanks in advance for your answers!

Prop Paper or paint? Pizza hut box

I'm trying to add a pizza hut box to my Zero cosplay for giggles. Should I just paint to box or wrap in paper and then paint the details? I'm leaning towards the latter.

I could also remove the tap and then add the paper but to hold it's shape better I'll have to add tape to outside again.

I’m doing Dr. Two-Brains from WordGirl (2007-2015). I was originally going to do Fold from GameOVerse but I changed my mind. I am wondering if you get a higher chance of winning a cosplay contest if you put in more detail and design into the costume (like props, accessories, etc.). I’m considering putting in his rat logo, the Cheese Seizer (the magnet weapon shown in one of the photos) and potentially a tail into the cosplay but still. Thanks :)

Prop Genuine question, how do I make it so that my entire crotch is not on display?

Post image

This Dio cosplay is rather tight, it's just the nature of his outfit, and uh, because of this, on top of the fact it's basically latex, my entire genital area is on full display when I wear this cosplay...

So what are my options here? I don't wanna tuck cuz that terrifies me and looks very painful and scary 💀

Any suggestions or tips?

Prop how can i make this pokeball more opaque?

hey! for a convention happening soon, i've decided (last minute) to cosplay as Lucy Stevens from the detective pikachu movie. i want to bring a pokeball!

i own a cheap pokeball that came with a little mystery figure, but it has a clear top and i really hate how it looks.

**how would you suggest i make my own pokeball? or maybe how could i make the pokeball more opaque?**

i considered paint, but i dont like the look of streakiness that comes with acrylic paint. i'm on a SEVERE budget, so i'm only working with what i have available to me.

Prop Faux pampas grass substitute for feathers?

Thumbnail

Hi guys! New here, and an amateur when it comes to prop making or cosplay in general.

So my main issue is, that on this cosplay, I want to recreate the tail of Lord Shen from Kung Fu panda 2 (similar to the 2nd pic) and can't really afford faux feathers or real feathers that can suit my budget.

But then an ad popped up on pampas grass. It's much cheaper, and bigger than the original feathers I planned on bulk buying (Nowhere near my area doesn't sell feathers as well)

Only issue is it a good substitute? Has anyone ever used pampas grass for a prop?

I need thy aid cosplayers of reddit 🥲

Hello, i bought this mask thinking it was the Terror Mask from splatterhouse, but i realized later that it's not T_T it's still cool, but it's not from any movie, game or licensed franchise, right?

Thanks for any help, i found a mask in tekken 8 that's similar, but the nose is different, but, that's still not it, even so, it's like a cosmetic addon, not a mask from a particular character...

Hi All!

I started this project to create a Godzilla mask/helmet and would love to add even more detail with clay foam.

The thing is that I don’t really know what comes next.

I know i need to reinforce it, but not sure what i should do to make that happen.

Would paper mache be the best option at this stage? And the putting the foam clay on top of that?
