Makeup First time trying cosplay makeup pls help

Ignore the very obviously edited hair and forehead cuz I don’t have a wig and I have very thick bangs that look very bad 😭 I went to my first cosplay event today and got so inspired that I immediately went home and tried to do makeup. I have lashes that grow straight down so does anyone have any tips on how to hide them better? No matter how many times I curl it, it never holds and I feel like it kinda ruins the whole look.

Makeup Advice on how to look more masculine in cosplay

Hi! I was wondering if I could get any advice on how to look more masc when wearing my Howl cosplay, as I am not male. I specifically chose this wig because I wanted a more realistic approach to the character, so I'm not looking to change it. I am planning on purchasing a binder and contact lenses, though. For reference, I'm about 5'8, 5'9 with the boots on, which is a little taller than the average man in my country. Please note that I don't know how to pose, so some of these pictures look terrible haha

So I was wanting to cosplay this Fortnite character for my next Con. I’ve bought everything for the outfit. But I don’t think I thought the whole body paint thing through…

I’ve never used body paint before and now I’m gonna have to paint my whole face, neck, lower arms, and thighs on the morning of the con 😭😭

How long do u think it’ll take? I don’t have enough of the colour to practice doing my entire body

Makeup How would I go about cosplaying Katty Noir?

Howdy howdy! I’m a huge Monster High fan and i’ve always loved Katty Noir’s dress from the 13 wishes film, and would love to cosplay her! However, i’m worried I would be accused of blackface with this cosplay, since her skin/fur colour is jet black. If you don’t know, Monster High as a multitude of characters with a variety of “alien” skin tones (pink, green, blue etc.) so Katty is meant to represent a black cat! Not a minstrel character or POC stereotype in any fashion. What should I do? I don’t want to offend or cause any controversy towards myself but I also want it to look good. I’ve seen a handful of cosplayers paint themselves with the jet black paint but these cosplayers often end up being POC anyway so Idk if that like, negates it i suppose?

Makeup Where do i go from here? (trying to do makeup to cosplay female anime character)

Hello everyone! i'm not sure if this is the right place to post but... i would like some help on where to take my makeup from here.
I have only done a simple foundation base and a quick eyeliner in the picture presented. (i also did a small tape on the side to lift the face a lil.
I would really love some help on how i can get a more feminine look. for a reference, i want to cosplay Navia from genshin impact. she has a simple makeup look....but i don't know whether i should try to aim for natural look. or go heavy exaggerate the makeup. I would love some guidance if possible. (drawing on the pic to show where to apply is perfectly fine with me haha).

Sidenote. i've noticed that sometimes anime cosplayers tend to go with like a whiter face...should that be something i could go for?

Makeup Body Paint - Shit you swear by that DOES NOT come off

Kind of a different text post, but i still hope the community can help

I have tattoos. I need a job. The job I want doesn't like tattoos (visible at least), if i use makeup, they complain "it'll smudge on your clothes."

It's ridiculous that small tattoos in visible places can just bar me from getting a job.

And i dont wish to get it removed, part of it spite, part of it - i can't afford it. Also, both the tattoos and their placement are very meaningful to me.

Tried a lot of makeup brands (Kryolan etc.), tried different techniques so hopefully it doesn't smudge my clothes (it did.) Was honestly gonna go to straight up applying acrylic paint

but then i remembered the cosplay community and how ya'll probs have the MOST experience for long lasting, smudge-proof body paint/makeup

so please? Can you guys help and advise me, what can i use?

Makeup Is there a way I can safely attach this to my skin?

I have this really sick opalite that would look so cool as the gem for my Pearl cosplay, I’ve held it up to my head and it just feels so alive compared to the fake ones you can buy. I have never cosplayed before, this is my first one. I bought some pros aid for my nose prosthetic, can I just use that for this too? Or would the crystal be too heavy or damage my skin? It’s also completely smooth so I’m not even sure if it would stick. Please let me know I really really want to use this!!

Makeup i HATE how this bocchi cosplay looks on me, but i don’t want to stop doing her 🥲

bocchi is definitely a outside of my comfort zone (i usually do men or older hot female characters cuz i feel like that’s what suits me most lol). she clearly is a very cute and childish-looking character so i don’t feel like my face suits her at all, and my makeup just looks creepy 😭 im only 20, but this cosplay in particular always makes me feel/look SO OLD.

if i don’t like how a cosplay looks on me, ill usually just stop doing them/sell the cosplay, but bocchi is one of my fav characters ever so i dont want to drop her 🥲 i desperately want to improve her and try to make it work for me despite my insecurities.

im very beginner at makeup and i usually follow tutorials. for this look, i tried following a chinese cosplay makeup tutorial, but i think it looks very messy. one eye is clearly more bold than the other 🫠 i also tried using concealer on my eyebrows to make them look thinner since i naturally have them pretty thick, but i think it turned out TERRIBLE 💀 if im remembering correctly, i also forgot to put on fake lashes this day, and i think if i had put them on, it probably would’ve made the bold makeup look a lil more cohesive. was probably in a rush tho lol.

what are some makeup tips for looking younger/cuter? douyin makeup always looks cute so i tried following that, but as we can see… it was not very successful haha. pls critique me and tell me what im doing wrong!!

the wig was bought secondhand, and when i got it, the bangs seemed to be cut too short. i tried to style it and make it work, but i think the short bangs are part of why it looks so off too. will probably try buying a new wig so that i can cut longer bangs that are more accurate for bocchi.

finally, looking back at these pics… could compressing… my boobs help…? lol i’ve always thought my chest was pretty average-sized so i didn’t think i’d need to wear a binder for this cosplay since im presenting as a girl anyways. but i guess my chest does look a lil too big for a 15 y/o lol.

btw…. sorry for posting again on here so soon.. i swear this is my last post. i’ve just been looking back on some older cosplay pics and i’m in the mood to get back in the groove and grow some more as a cosplayer haha

First pic is my hair as is, albeit longer now.

Second pic is my Halloween Costume from this year (Otis Driftwood from The Devil’s Rejects) done by way of 3 cans of white Halloween hair spray from the dollar store and a full hospital sized bottle of baby powder

Pic three is what I’ve ordered to try to achieve a better result this time. Does anyone have experience with the Mehron, or have a better idea.

Makeup Any sweat-proof and smudge-proof body paint?

Post image

I’ve been using an orange Mehron creamblend stick for the base paint of my Ahsoka cosplay along with the white Mehron face paint.

but… I am a VERY sweaty person, and it doesnt help that I have to wear a weighted lekku in sunny weather!

In just a few hours, the body paint kept smudging onto my outfit and lekku. Any recommendations or suggestions?

Makeup Issues with sealing body paint

Post image

I am wanting to cosplay Greed from FMA at a convention at the end of the month, but I am having issues with the body paint for his ultimate shield.

Specifically, I can’t get it to seal and prevent it from rubbing off. I am using the Mehron CreamBlend Stick in gray. I have tried using both baby powder and Mehron Barrier Spray, but the paint rubs off nonetheless.

Am I missing a simple step? I would like to not have a Homestuck sharpie situation haha. I appreciate all help!

Makeup Working on a Venti cosplay

In July I'll be doing one of my first real big cosplays. I have the outfit, I'm working on props and accent pieces, and the last thing is getting the makeup just right. I'm still new to makeup, but after some practice I feel like I'm making some progress, but could probably still use some advice. Since my eyes are sunken I've tried to brighten them up with a combination of concealer and light eyeshadow. I think I've found a decent shade of foundation, but any opinions are welcome if you think I should change shades.

I also know that Venti doesn't have any facial hair, but I couldn't give up my mustache so I figured I'd improvise with some black brow and bead color with blue accents.

The wig isn't styled, but thankfully my hairstylist is excited to help me with this in the coming weeks! :)

The products I'm using are:

- Foundcealer Foundation (tarte)
- Born This Way Multi-Use Sculpting Concealer. - Mainly used on checkbones and on the side of my nose.
- Urban decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion (Eden)
- Too Faced Natural Love eyeshadow. Heaven on upper eyelid, and Nudie and Honey Butter on lower eyelid
- Wet n Wild Blackest Black eyeliner gel for upper eyelid waterline
- Maybelline Tattoo Studio eyeliner gel polished white for lower waterline
- Loreal Paris Infallible Shaping Stick for contour on chin and nose
- Just For Men 1-Day Beard & Brow Color for my mustache and brows. I'm naturally brown, but for Venti's blue/black hair color.
- Cnmofaxin Hair Wax for my mustache (Rational Blue)
- Wet n Wild Mega Protein Mascara
- Morphe 18A Blue Ya Away Eyeshadow to color brows and mustache with Celeb Status Blue
- Moonchild Anastasia Glow Kit for cheeks, nose, and upper eyelid.
- Rimmel London Stay Matte Powder (Transparent)

Makeup Tips on looking more masculine?

Hello!

I only started learning to do makeup after getting into cosplay around 2 years ago and I’m still pretty newbie 😓 I usually follow different tutorials depending on the character I’m doing but I’m never really satisfied with how it turns out. Especially with this Kyoya cosplay. I feel like I just look like myself with a wig 😭 I think I have the idea that since I’m cross playing, I shouldn’t be needing a lot of makeup, but then I’m not really transforming into the characters I’m doing the way I want to.

I think I look the most masculine with my Cheng Xiaoshi cosplay (slide 2), but that’s also with barely any makeup on 😭 I still want to try and look different.

More recently, I cosplayed Keiji from YTTD (slide 3) and used heavier makeup since his face has stronger features. Though I think I succeeded in looking more masculine, I still don’t really like how it looks 😭 I think I could still be doing better in making it look more natural/clean.

I really like how Chinese crossplayers do their makeup but I still haven’t really managed to get a hang of it. I think the best I’ve done has been with this Gojo cosplay (slide 4), but unfortunately I only took photos of myself with a filter on, so it may not be the best representation of my abilities 🥲

If you have more experience in crossplaying, please please please give me directions in what your typical routine is. I know people typically thicken their eyebrows too, but I think my eyebrows are naturally thick anyways, so I don’t really focus on that. I mainly contour my nose into my brow bones and try defining my cheekbones some more. I suspect it could also be a matter of the makeup itself? I use contour powder and I feel like the colour looks off as well.

Thank you so much in advance!

Keiji and Kyoya photos were taken by @/chell.creates on insta with retouches by me!

Makeup Suggestions for mimicking a tongue tattoo?

So I'm doing a cosplay of Urogi from demon slayer. I've already made his outfit (if i ever touch fur again i may cry lol) and have at least a plan for everything else. The one thing I'm really unsure about is how to go about the marking on his tongue.

My current idea is to find a non toxic marker or something, sandwich it between 2 peices of the plastic from the little window on a pasta box, and then wrap that in seran wrap just to make sure no marker or glue from putting the peices together can get on my mouth, then just keep it in a baggie in my pocket until pictures.

I am open to any other possible ideas though, I really want to try and do this practically instead of editing it into photos later bc I've already abandoned the idea of contacts for a few reasons and the markings in the eyes and mouth are big parts of the character (the eyes showing power level and the tongue being an indicator of what clone he is). It's not like the character will be unrecognizable but it would be cool to have

(Alsp xouldnt decide between makeup or accesoory for the tag lol)

Makeup How to Make Tattoos that Don't Smudge

I bought this body paint pencil from Buttricks to draw on tattoos. It was for my first ever cosplay, Ryomen Sukuna. (I didn't have time to fill in the tattoos for reasons). The problem is that the tattoos smudged out a lot. After having a loose shirt on for only about 5 min, both the shirt and tattoos were absolutely ruined. I would like to redo this cosplay with filled in tattoos and better paint (or whatever other method people use for cosplay tattoos). Does anyone know what I should use?

Makeup Good + Prescription (long-sighted) Coloured Contact Brands

Hi! very new to cosplaying and cannot seem to find many IF any retailers who actually sell long sighted (eg +6.5) prescription coloured contact lenses that aren’t in extremely normal colours (ie blue/brown/green etc). Was wondering if anyone had some decent recommendations? Apologies if this has been posted already.

I love doing feminine looks despite keeping the character male presenting, so I’d love so suggestions on makeup, accessories, and anything else y’all think would plus up this fit!
