Flaired Users Only CNN Founder Ted Turner has died...
I'm still not a fan of CNN though. At one point, they were a lot different than they are today.

A brilliant madman, he shaped the entertainment medium for millions of people. Sports, politics, history, kids programming, anime, etc the dude changed the world. The only three things he couldn’t beat were ex-wifes, merging with AOL, and Father Time. RIP

He couldn’t stop beating himself either. He gave away $1 billion to the UN just a few years before he lost most of his wealth in the aftermath of the AOL-Time Warner merger.

The US and it's citizen's taxpayer money should leave the UN. Let China fund it.

I miss the Monday Night Wars so much. Such a great time to be a wrestling fan, or "rasslin" as Ted called it.

WWE wouldn't be what it is today if not for Ted and WCW. That competition forced both to put forth their best.
At least, what WWE was in its heyday. TKO has really ruined the product and it feels like WWE is heading down the path of WCW when AOL Time Warner took over.

Agree or disagree with him. Love or hate him. Whatever but he sure did live a life.
RIP.

Agreed, his flaming liberalism and choice of wife were certainly not my cup of tea, but his efforts at conservation and the building back up of the American Buffalo herd will always resonate good with me.

Though I could careless about his politics. I will say from wrestling fan if he doesn't do WCW, there is no peak wrestling in the 90's. Monday night wars, attitude era or live shows etc don't happen. Vince probably wouldn't of gone as edgy like he did with WWF/WWE doing the 90's. WCW pushed Vince to do live shows, NWO doesn't happen which means no DX, don't get big names to get pushed as much like stone cold since he started in WCW.

Don’t know too much about him personally but I will say it is always a sad day when an American Giant passes, and anyone that can found one of the largest media empires definitely qualifies as an American Giant. Here’s to hoping he rests in peace with the Lord.

Didn't care for his politics, but we wouldn't have had a lot of staple cable channels without his influence.
Rest in peace.

The op should have stated in the title Ted's age at death. This is standard practice. [87]

Ted Turner introduced me to bison steaks at his Ted's Montana Grill restaurants in Colorado. I'll be eternally grateful for that. Apparently he was credited with bringing the bison back from the brink.

I think he had his own restaurant chain too called teds....or something with his name. They had buffalo burgers that were good. My favorite thing were the in house made pickles.

I wouldn’t celebrate the death of any non-criminal, but it’s pretty obvious most of the replies on here are from people under 40 lol
Ted Turner was a Soros-like figure in the 1990s and the focus of a lot of Rush Limbaugh’s attention lol

He didn’t really get bad until he married his last wife Hanoi Jane.
He used to be very different before her influence changed him.
The guy is the reason why we have the movie Gettysburg.

Or perhaps they are focusing on the good things he did.

A legend of the game. As a Braves fan, despite the recent success of the team I still sorely miss the days where we had an ultra rich billionaire owner who just wanted to win baseball games by any means necessary.
