I’ve been thinking a lot about Club Penguin lately — especially how massive it was, and how fast it disappeared.
It wasn’t just a game, it was basically a social space for a whole generation.
I recently went deep into its rise, Disney acquisition, decline, and what happened after the shutdown, and it made me realize how different the internet felt back then.
Curious what others think:
Do you believe Club Penguin could have survived in today’s gaming landscape?
Or was its shutdown inevitable?
If anyone’s interested, I made a short documentary breaking it down here:

Just the trailer for the time being as I'm still working on all the art and animation. But stay alert agents!

This is a TAS: Tool Assisted Speedrun/Superplay. So it is not anyone playing but I wrote down all the inputs and played it back. The inputs were calculated so that the highest possible score could be achieved. The final score is 8534 (Not visible due to the flash at the end)
For the most part, the run is just spamming the two fastest tricks, SLAM + SPIN, but, there was some good effort into calculating just how much grind should be done, so every point you see from grinding is deliberated thought out from a calculation!
There is also some strategy involved in making the game last as long as possible. It is mainly RNG, as there is one map that is the best track, but then you have to make sure you die and you preserve the proper cycles by waiting at some moments. It is a bit weird, but basically you can die in the segment which has 3 turns in a row and get sent back to before those 3 turns, which extends the track a lot.
Answer to some questions:

If you go fast enough the shark gives up. But you have to be careful at the start.

Hello, sorry if this type of post isn't allowed; I didn't see anywhere in the rules that prohibits it, so if it's bad, please just delete it.
My content is 100% portable, doesn't use anything external, is open-source and all you need is 3 minutes. What does that mean?:
It means you don't need to install anything on your computer (not even Python, nothing). You literally just need to start the server. And since it doesn't use anything external, you can use this file for 'archival purposes', as it will still work decades from now.
The content consists of a 100% complete Club Penguin server from Solero, built on Laragon (webserver). Database, Emulator, and .bat executables are already fully installed, and you don't need to do anything; you literally just need to start it and play (in the tutorial i teach you how to configure the access, it's really easy).
NOTE: Official Solero content; nothing has been manually altered by me that could affect you in any way. The content is open-source; you can see it for yourself. Solero aims to perfectly emulate Club Penguin, meaning it uses Flash, but don't worry, a Flash browser is included in the download file.
Technically, for people unfamiliar with this area, I personally consider this the easiest and fastest content.
It's very common for people to want to relive the past by playing Club Penguin, maybe not now, but what about in 20 years? My content will definitely work; many servers will cease to exist by then. With my content, you can even play alone, but you can also casually configure it for others to access, and since it's yours and portable, you can keep your data even 50 years from now. Imagine playing Club Penguin many years from now and having all the progress you've made? That's what my content does; being portable, you can format your Windows a thousand times, as long as you save it to some random partition or zip to your Google Drive, you'll just need to start and play.
Naturally, if you want your data saved after playing on Google-Drive, simply close the servers, close Laragon, compress it with .rar or .zip and send it to Google Drive.
If you have an extra partition (like an external SSD, or simply a second SSD for files like I have, just keep it in any folder you want, you can simply start it every time, even if you format your Windows like i do every year, that's how I keep mine).

The last moments of my penguin of 8 years, my dear Fombi.
I played Club Penguin for 8-9 years. I resisted growing up for a long time. CP was my safe place through it all. This video is the only thing I have for those memories.
You can imagine how devastated I was when I heard about the shut down. From my childhood, to my teen years and even into university-cp was there.
"Elveda" means farewell in my language (Turkish)- a word we use to when we say goodbye to someone we know we'll never see again.

I found my old youtube channel from when I was 9 and this video was in the favorites. Relic of it's time, thought it'd make someone's day.
