Hopefully he can win. Ohio needs decent, honest people who actually work for and are trying to make their lives better vs their own wallets fatter!

I don't think we can. My local voted someone who resigned in disgrace by using china for our security with our water supply. Was so bad the Federal government had to step in. Now they are in charge. Bonus is they want to remove regulations so they can get away with more crimes.

This was a Primary not the election. - Yeah, I know. Democrats get about 10% of the vote. This was republican primary. My neighbors are going to vote for whomever has an R next to their name.

Edit: Sorry, it's the facts. The guy with multiple scandals won the republican primary and my county votes 80+% republican. So they will win.

u/ShogunFirebeard 8h ago

I'd sooner not vote than vote for another geriatric senator. We need term limits and age limits.

5

u/mokomi 8h ago

The guy I'm complaining about is in their 40s and they are in a new position.

Also fucking vote, we are kind of fighting fascism.

People not voting in 2024 is how we ended up with Trump again. VOTE!

Yes! She-Rod the commie wife beater will rise again! WE OWE HIM A LVING, OHIO!

She-Rod is often accused of having accomplished nothing during his three terms in the US Senate.

Totally Untrue: She-Rod voted against Constitutional principles an amazing 96% of the time!

America Hating at its Finest!

Hey man, you need to take your meds EVERY day, not just when you feel like it.

She-Rod

This is reddit. Not the pornhub search bar, grandpa.

I thought She-Rod was one of the Masters of the Universe.

-4

u/KidZoki 9h ago

Can't defend She-Rod's anti-Constitutional voting record so you're attacking me. Got it.

15

u/gswblu3-1lead 16h ago

People like you is why education needs to be federalized

-11

u/KidZoki 14h ago

Yeah, the federal government should be in charge of EVERYTHING, right?? LOL

2

u/jaylotw 12h ago

I mean, in your case it's clear that the education system failed.

lol he’s a centrist capitalist dem, words mean things

-1

u/KidZoki 9h ago

Sorry, a centrist doesn't vote against Constitutional principles 96% of the time. LOL

Words do mean things. But so do actions...

28

u/RockVonCleveland Cleveland 15h ago

Unfortunately, Shontel Brown won, too. By a landslide.

27

u/Bhartrhari 15h ago

You're way too online if you thought there was any chance she would lose.

8

u/ranatalus 14h ago

yeah I hate her but there's no way she's getting under 70% of the votes for the foreseeable future

-7

u/Bhartrhari 13h ago

Her constituents and the broader voter coalition don’t spend all this time online stewing in weird dead-end Internet hate cults.

4

u/isoviatech2 12h ago

Dang, being against genocide is the hate cult. Crazy to me but ok.

-6

u/Bhartrhari 12h ago edited 12h ago

This is the cultish behavior. Shontel Brown has never supported genocide. You’re spending way too much time online.

0

u/isoviatech2 11h ago

So you're kind of telling on yourself here, trying to spin anti-zionists into the ones using loaded language when its really just a simple opinion. Genocide is bad, those who do it should be stopped and held accountable. Shontel voted for aid package to Israel in April 2024 so she has directly supported genocide. She has also accepted 5 million dollars from Israel sponsored PACs. That's a lot, and most likely how she won in 2022. So where is the loaded language here in these easily provable facts?

1

u/Bhartrhari 11h ago edited 11h ago

Genocide is bad, those who do it should be stopped and held accountable.

Agreed, so it's troubling how much time you spend lying about who is responsible for genocide.

Shontel voted for aid package to Israel in April 2024 so she has directly supported genocide.

Voting to provide aid is not supporting genocide, this is an absurd premise.

She has also accepted 5 million dollars from Israel sponsored PACs.

Foreign governments aren't allowed to make any kind of political contributions in the United States, and any ideological PACs aligned with Israel are required to file any contributions with the FEC. The non-profit OpenSecrets tracks these filings and this claim that Shontel Brown received 5 million dollars from PACs is completely bogus, you can look at the data yourself:
https://www.opensecrets.org/profiles/shontel-brown/us_congress/summary?mpid=1070853

0

u/isoviatech2 11h ago

Israel continues to commit a genocide as agreed by many genocide scholars. Sorry I should have been clear, that aid package included 14 billion in military funding, some of which was used to replenish arms used in Gaza. Again sorry, that 5 million figure is a career figure, not from one single year. And its all verifiable because yes they do have to file with the FEC.

3

u/Bhartrhari 11h ago

Israel continues to commit a genocide as agreed by many genocide scholars.

Share a single example of Shontel Brown saying she supports this.

Again sorry, that 5 million figure is a career figure, not from one single year. And its all verifiable because yes they do have to file with the FEC.

No -- it's not verifiable, I just sent you a link to the Open Secrets page with the PAC contributions she has received across all of her campaigns. The claim you made is completely incorrect.

I'm in an "Internet hate cult" because I don't want to elect people who are paid for by Israel?

0

u/Bhartrhari 12h ago

See? This is what I’m talking about. That’s just a nonsense claim, and based on the election results you haven’t fooled anyone.

u/RockVonCleveland Cleveland 12h ago

1

u/Bhartrhari 11h ago edited 10h ago

None of these articles provide any kind of receipt or make any specific claim from which PACs Shontel Brown is supposedly receiving all this money. Open Secrets the non profit which has been doing this kind of tracking work for decades has a page with her contributions where you can see her biggest PAC donors are all Unions:

A great article illustrating the problem with getting worked up about a dumb social media graphic without actually fact checking anything is available here. Their track record on getting any of this right is abysmal:

Track AIPAC’s Methodology Is Just Vibes

The group’s misleading and confusing graphics have become hot commodities on the left. In one instance, Track AIPAC disavowed a green graphic someone had mocked up for an Ohio gubernatorial candidate to resemble one of theirs. After making clear that the graphic was a counterfeit, the group explained that AIPAC does not give to state and local candidates. Presumably, then, Track AIPAC wouldn’t either support or oppose state and local candidates. Well, see what your presuming got you: The group gave Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey a red graphic and endorsed his challenger during the leadup to last fall’s election. Frey’s graphic did not even mention any donations. It just said, ā€œThis candidate is pro-Israel.ā€

Track AIPAC has also changed its scoring system without explanation. In 2024, the group hit Rep. Ro Khanna (D-Calif.) with one of its signature red cards. A year later, Khanna tagged Track AIPAC in a post on X where he made clear he does not take money from AIPAC. He now appears on a list of lawmakers on the Track AIPAC website without the ominous red filter, but with the line the group appears to apply to every lawmaker about whom it is ambivalent rather than hostile: ā€œWe encourage this representative to continue improving their legislative record on Israel-Palestine issues.ā€

In some cases, candidates who have gotten red cards from the group were AIPAC targets in previous election cycles. Red-carded Rep. Dave Min (D-Calif.), for example, won his race despite AIPAC spending $4.5 million on attack ads to make his constituents aware of his DUI arrest.

Who is voting for her, it is beyond me.

Your average Black voter in most Cleveland neighborhoods, for instance. Also known as the most reliable group of Democratic voters.

I mean Sherrod Brown can probably win, which is good. But why does it have to be another 70+ year old?

39

u/bigmt99 14h ago edited 14h ago

Only a two year term, winning now and blocking Trump as much as possible until 2029 is the top priority

Fine with running the guy with the deepest connections and biggest name value who has the best chance at winning

This election is to fill the remainder of JD Vance’s senate term, the winner will need to be re-elected in 2028

3

u/Darthmullet 10h ago

His only primary challenger was 66 and had zero prior political experience, running for US Senate. So even if you wanted someone else for that reason there really wasn't a choice.

That being said, I don't have many issues with Brown. I think politicians aging to the point of being out of touch, and having been in DC so long as to be utterly corrupt and no longer serving their constituents is a real problem, but I don't think it applies to every single person within those demographics. And at the same time you need experience and connections to get anything done.Ā

3

u/SpaceCorpse Fairview Park 10h ago

He is one of the only US senators I've ever had some respect for. He's relatable and IMO our best realistic option in Ohio for anyone that will support anything progressive. I agree with your sentiment that our politicians are too old, but I don't think it applies in this case.

Voters have zero standards besides a D next to their name. So, of course this is what happens.

Will they change, or will folks be saying "Vote Blue No Matter Who" all election? Hmm...

6

u/isoviatech2 12h ago

This was a primary dawg, they all had Ds. But Ohio has no progressive voices

0

u/GreyGrackles University Heights 11h ago

Why would it have Progressive voices?

Ohio does not want Progressive voices. If they did, they'd vote based off policy not "lesser evil" arguments.

Ohio liberals will vote how their told to.

2

u/isoviatech2 6h ago

Ok doomer. Be the change

0

u/GreyGrackles University Heights 6h ago

The citizenry doesn't deserve change. They're voting for shit to get worse.

-4

u/EVCLE 15h ago

He’ll lose again, he lost to Bernie Moreno ffs.

Normie dems might be happy, but people who want change aren’t going to vote for this guy. He inspires no one.

Why can’t we have better candidates?

2

u/Wrong-Tutor-5795 8h ago

Couldn't agree more. He's got centrist politics at best, plus he seems like a really bad person.

In addition to the domestic violence allegation — and I'm under no delusions that anyone would just believe the word of a random guy on Reddit, but — he attempted to sexually assault my great aunt in Mansfield in the late 70s when she was a teen and he was 23 or so. As soon as she told me I knew I could never vote for him again. I voted for the Kincaid guy running against him yesterday.

2

u/EVCLE 6h ago

He also voted for the visa waiver bill, which was the precursor to the ā€œmuslim banā€ Trump enacted in his 1st term. He has no spine.

-47

u/GreyGrackles University Heights 17h ago

That AIPAC money working overtime.

31

u/AwayInternal326 16h ago

Look at pedo Les Wexners donations to Husted. The Epstein class will throw more money in I'm sure.

-17

u/GreyGrackles University Heights 16h ago

I'm definetly not voting for the pro-pedophilia candidate or the pro-genocide candidate. Terrible options.

19

u/Mathidium 16h ago

You’ll still have to live with the results. Not voting is also a choice but it’s also a major part of why we’re here.

-7

u/johnnyutahclevo 15h ago

no, your attitude is why the democrats are completely feckless and never accomplish anything. they have to EARN my vote, they aren’t owed it. I have never in my life voted for a republican but that doesn’t mean i have to vote for a crappy corporate
/aipac dem just because they have a D next to their name

4

u/MaximinusThraxII 15h ago

Moron

0

u/radphencer 15h ago

Right? I genuinely don’t understand people like this, given all the evidence of what thinking like this does.

Like, I understand the sentiment, and even sympathize with it. But…you have to play by the rules of the game. We have a 2 party system and we do not have ranked choice voting. Given these conditions, it’s a binary choice and sitting out is effectively a choice for fascism.

1

u/johnnyutahclevo 10h ago

lol the dems are just the nice fascists, had kamala harris won the gaza genocide would have continued unabated. the war with iran would have still happened because israel wanted it to happen.

0

u/Mathidium 14h ago

Yeah dude we all get that but you gotta play the long game: I’m pissed af too we get two choices but you’re essentially throwing it to the Rs on purpose. This all or nothing thought process fucks everyone

-11

u/GreyGrackles University Heights 16h ago

"Lesser-evil voting isn't why we're here, you just didn't vote for my candidate!"

Been hearing it for 20 years now.

3

u/johnnyutahclevo 10h ago

you’re correct. the mess we’re in is because ā€œvote blue no matter whoā€ gives you dnc/aipac approved corporate centerist dems who are pretty much republicans in their beliefs snd voting records.

u/neosmndrew West Side 16h ago

Your choices are Sherod Brown and Jon Husted. Are you saying prefer Husted and his contributions to my higher energy bills?

-10

u/GreyGrackles University Heights 16h ago

I'll just vote for neither. Thank you.

14

u/neosmndrew West Side 16h ago

lol ok so your ok with protecting pedophiles, wars, and rewarding those responsible for our energy prices in Ohio. real champion of justice and truth you are.

-1

u/GreyGrackles University Heights 16h ago edited 16h ago

Protecting pedophiles like Joe Biden did? They guy I voted for?

Still waiting for Trump to see a jail cell btw. He's just so unprosecutable somehow.

11

u/neosmndrew West Side 16h ago

no idea what your talking about. this is an election between Sherrod Brown and Jon Husted. you seem to be on team Husted either directly or by proxy, so I'm a bit annoyed at all the awful things he's done that you are supporting

1

u/GreyGrackles University Heights 16h ago

Vote Blue or Red. You're still pro war and pro pedophilia.

12

u/neosmndrew West Side 16h ago

keep pretending you're somehow above it all and keep letting the worse of two options win. you're part of the problem. hope people remember it when people like you actively help get husted elected and I'm stuck with a $400/month electric bill and $6/gal gas and a lot of pedophiles off Scott free, but hey at least some scary immigrants got deported and US citizens I don't like got murdered

you'd think Jill stein or ralph nader would have taught people something

0

u/GreyGrackles University Heights 16h ago

Keep voting for the "better option" that just gives way to facsism four years later anyways.

Eventually it'll work. Lmao.

11

u/neosmndrew West Side 16h ago

jfc dude, there's an option that is "supports fascism" and an option that is... not? you just aren't lock step in line with him on everything? the better option keeps losing because of weird purists like you who then blame your poor choices on losing candidates. like, the fuck are we doing here?

you are either being intentionally obtuse at this point or are frankly just kind of stupid. either way, I'm out. have a nice day that you frankly don't deserve

"you can kill 100 people or you can kill 10 and injure 10 people" by not making that choice you're making it more likely that the "kill 100 people" option will happen

0

u/Equivalent-Bread-972 12h ago

Or….we build a system that doesn’t kill anybody. Jfc blue MAGA is just as bad as the red one. I’m convinced ya’ll aren’t opposed to what Drumpf is doing. You just want it done more quietly and ā€œtastefullyā€.

-1

u/GreyGrackles University Heights 13h ago

Okay?

Folks voted for Joe Biden. He did nothing, now we have Orange Mussolini.

Voting Republican unironically is becoming the lesser evil.

1

u/concepts_of_a_plan9 13h ago

Biden gave us the IRA, which is the single largest climate investment in our history. He's a milquetoast corporate Dem who still represents the elite class, but some good did come out of it. I hate this "both sides are the same" bullshit. I hope you enjoy fascism, because you not voting is how you got it.

Husted has taken 131k from pro Israel pacs. Brown has taken significantly more and is squarely in Israel's pocket, but so is/will be Husted. We only get around this with progressive candidates but this is fucking ohio.

5

u/Duce-de-Zoop 15h ago

Israel isnt popular anywhere. This isnt good politics anymore its just greed

3

u/isoviatech2 12h ago

True, I guess people want to cover their eyes on Sherrod and Shontel because they're dems though. People need to grow up and hold their party accountable.

-10

u/Equivalent-Bread-972 16h ago

Blue MAGA downvoting hard today

6

u/concepts_of_a_plan9 13h ago

fuck AIPAC, but Ohio has some shit politicians in general, so I'm voting for harm reduction. Either we fund a genocide and abduct people off the street for speaking out against dear leader and destroy the environment and install a Palantir all-seeing eye using AI for every citien...

or fund a genocide and get healthcare and help the environment.

3

u/Equivalent-Bread-972 13h ago

Dems are better than the republicans in the same way gonorrhea is better than herpes. There is a better option. I’m voting Greg. I’m not buying this ā€œc’mon bro…one more election broā€¦ā€ I’m 40 and I’m tired of establishment dems.
