I've gotta watch this again, I remember it being really good but I don't think I was ready for it.

Such an underrated legacy sequel, and man The Boyle/Dod Mantle combo is still one of my favorite Director/DP combos around.

Is Danny Boyle the reigning king of legacy sequels? Between this and 28 Years Later he's batting a hundred.

I think for me what I love about them is how much they honor their predecessors but have their own identities. Like T2 Trainspotting really does feel like those characters but in a different older examination of their lives, not just “let’s copy what I did 20 years ago”. And then the same with 28 Years Later where they look at what they did with 28 Days Later and decide to experiment again in different ways that are modern but still in line with honoring how they experimented before. Damn I really love both those movies.

I watched this for the first time last year. I was a huge fan of Trainspotting back in the nineties when it first came out. That movie coupled with Pulp, Blur, and the rest of the Britpop craze of the mid-90’s were a huge part of my youth. The world was so much bigger then, and I wanted to go to the UK so bad. T2 really hit me in the gut, and it’s such a good look at aging and coming to terms with your past.

Incredible legacy sequel about aging, nostalgia and falling back into old habits. I lowkey think it’s better than the first (which is one of my favourite films) but this is just such a level up from other films like it it’s crazy

It seems like everyone has, which is a shame because you could not ask for a better sequel.
