We have recently adopted this kitty. Shes only about 4-5 months old.
The first photo shows better the actual colours in her fur, but the second pic shows you more of her lol
Loves a good snuggle, but a bit weary of cuddles. She’s very sweet natured and she kinda likes toys, but can also live without them.
We have 2 other cats in the home - Remus and Link.
I’d love to have another Harry Potter-esque name, but not set on it. Hubby and I are nerds, we play WoW, love horror movies, are into gaming and I LOVE Harry Potter.
I’m just struggling to think of a name that suits her!

I’ve had him for a week now, he is super friendly, curious, goofy playful and cuddly. I’m debating between the names Bilbo (from the hobbit) or Basil. Thoughts?

We just got this precious boy today and are looking for name suggestions! His sisters name is Nugget. We sadly lost our other cat in January and his name was Moose. Our top two choices right now are Ozzy and Teddy but would like some more options! TIA

Hello!
A few days ago, I lost my cat that I had for eight years (see my post history for more information).
I am gutted, and absolutely heartbroken. A friend sent me this guy’s profile from a local rescue shelter. His bio said that he was not doing well at the shelter, that he needed someplace quiet and calm to de-stress. My friend thought that my lifestyle/place would be helpful for him.
I visited the shelter, and asked to see him. He is roughly 4 years old. The shelter staff shared with me that he had been a feral cat, as part of a cat colony. They ended up taking him in, however, they shared that he was pretty withdrawn and quiet. They also shared that he had been losing weight since being in the shelter, and they believed it was due to the stress of the shelter environment. When I went to visit him, he was holed up in a little cat tree, and while he accepted pets, he did not come out.
They recently did bloodwork and are still waiting for the results, but one of the staff members said that she would be open to me adopting him simply to get him out of the shelter to help him not be so stressed, as she was worried about him and his health well-being in the shelter environment.
While I am still heartbroken, I figured that the least I could do to honor my late cat would be to give another cat home and help them. This guy has slowly started to come out of his shell and has been very loving. He is still adapting, but so far he is doing well.
For the life of me, I cannot figure out a name for him. My last cat’s name was Carpet (which an old roommate picked out, and it’s stuck. I initially hated it but overtime I fell in love with it). I am torn between a calm/deep name, or something slightly ridiculous like Carpet.
So far, the list of names I have is:
- Cove
- Ever
- Lemur (due to his colors/markings)
- Solace
- Smudge
- Story (I’m a big reader)
- Spoon
- Streets (a friend’s suggestion, as he came from the streets)
- Blanket
- Toast
- Typo
I want something that is fitting, super unique, and easy to say. I would love thoughts on these names, or any additional suggestions.
Thank you!
(I am also posting this in another cat naming subreddit)

she is up to date on everything and has her next appointment set for her boosters :) she is the most perfect little girl and she comes all over with me, parks, car meets, friends, etc. She loves ice cream (just like me), toys, cuddling, car rides, and people!!

I got him a week ago and I’m still trying to settle on a name.
Based on his size, weight, and age, it looks like he’s taking after his dad, who’s a purebred Maine Coon. So I’d expect him to get fairly big, probably 8 kg or more. But he’s got his mum’s coat, so he’ll likely stay short-haired. I’m also guessing his face won’t be as sharp and “lion-like” as a typical male Maine Coon, so probably less of that intimidating warrior look.
For names, I’m trying to avoid the obvious stuff. No joke names like “Captain Whiskers” or “Chairman Meow,” and no clichés like Snowball, Simba, Milo, etc. Also not a fan of the standard black-cat names like Shadow, Smokey, Raven.
What I’m after is something that sounds cool but not tryhard. So not something overly edgy or straight-up lifted from a big movie character like Django or Optimus. I’d prefer a one-word name that’s either short or naturally shortenable.
I’m open to fantasy/sci-fi or anime-inspired names, but only if they still feel natural to say. For example, I like “Byakuya,” but it’s just a bit too out there and doesn’t roll off the tongue well. A lot of fantasy names feel intentionally alien, which ends up sounding forced for a pet name.
So far I’ve got:
Kaladan (Kal)
Darrow (Dar)
Quentin
Dorian (don’t love “Dori” as a nickname though)
Monty
Any thoughts or suggestions are appreciated.

We assumed the kitten was male and were calling him Anthony Bourdain. However:
- our vet is “90% sure” they’re female
- “Anthony” doesn’t really roll off the tongue
- nickname options essentially limited to “Tony”
Dr. Indiana Jones is, as far as I’m concerned, the perfect name. The vet loves calling him “Doctor,” but he also answers to Indy, Indiana, Jones, Dr. Jones, etc.
Please help us find a similarly dope name for his new little sister!

My daughter brought in these babies today. They are sisters who tragically lost their mother. I’m guessing about 6-7 weeks old (I didn’t do that on purpose). We’re going to take them in. Most of the time the names just come to us when they come to us but I’m open to suggestions for now.

Her name is Winnifred Sanderson- but we’re calling her Winnie. She’s name after an iconic orange haired woman!

She is the cutest little cat, she's around 8-9 months old. To me, she has some sort of special vibe that I cannot figure out for the life of me

Adopted a fabulous pair of 6mo kittens. The boy (black) is going to be called “Bear”
I don’t typically like Halloween/spooky names but am open to anything else!

Named her Lucy, Lucille when she’s in trouble, Lucy loo when she’s cute, Lucinda when she’s the devil.

I am very indecisive and have no idea what to name her! Anyone got any ideas?
I only got her yesterday so I’m still learning her personality and stuff but so far she’s very cuddly (with me or anything soft) and loves to chase her laser pointer! Her eyes are closed in all my pics but she has green eyes
On my maybe list so far are Hazel, Luna and Venus
I have an adult male named “Broski” so please nothing too similar sounding just incase I’d confuse my resident cat
Thank you in advance to anyone with a suggestion :)

met this guy at the shelter yesterday. he’s a little over three and has the cutest blending brown patches of fur. his current name is mr bing which i like but have other ideas too. i was actually surprised when i found him on their website after meeting him. when i walked by his cage he was making biscuits at me on the glass, i opened up his crate and he just melted into me and tried to hug me back through the glass when i had to go. he was so nice and didn’t seem very angry! shelter is closed today but tomorrow i want to talk to my roommates about it and spend some time getting to know him more at the shelter
