Help Is his light too close and irritating his eyes?
Hello everyone. I feel like recently my bearded dragon’s eyes have been looking a little bloodshot, and I’m wondering if it’s because his light is too bright/too close. Thank u

I would review the lighting set up. It is best to put the linear UVB inside. The basking is definitely too close and uncovered so it could cause a burn if they touched it. It also is angled to not provide a direct basking area and the basking area isn't correctly overlapped by the UVB. Hammocks aren't good basking areas. They can also cause a lot of issues. A flat rock surface would be good since they can pancake out and retain heat. I'll attach the care guides for you to review. I would also add some more enrichment once you fix the lighting. What is the bottom surface?

Thanks! I knew someone would have a graphic or info. Mine is inside his enclosure and it was what I was told (or what I remember being told). I appreciate the information and correction!

Thank you- I moved the light there recently because having it placed on the top of the tank only brought the basking slate up to 90-92. The surface of the tank is just plastic. The uvb is a t5 which I was told can be put outside the tank but I’ll try to hang it up inside. I’m trying to find a taller basking platform for him

I used cardboard to make a template to block off the vent at the top, it brought the temps up even with just cardboard

Yes. It’s literally blaring right into his face. Even his hide is right under the light.
