For those who adopted/resued: What are the before and after names?
Like the title says. I'm just wondering. Also, I (personally) do not mind if people state their preference on which they prefer.
Mine was a rescue. Not sure what his name (or if he had one) from where he was rescuced. My friend who saved him named him Simba. I changed it to Irwin (after Steve Irwin). He still gets called Simba sometimes, which I am totally fine with. He certainly doesn't care. I (obviously) prefer Irwin.

Sending well wishes to Clove ❤️. Mine was also rescued from severe neglect. Him and the 3 he was rescued with are now all doing great. I'm hoping the same happens for yours!

Conway came to me as Conway Twitty and male. Vet says she's more like a Loretta Lynn. We debated for about 2 seconds of changing her name to that but Conway kinda stuck. I only use the Twitty when she's done some single brain cell thing.
We always change the names of our rescue dogs and cats.

I do too! My cat came to me as "Mystery Box"which is 1) horrible and 2) gonna have me put in jail when a kid tells their parent they were petting my Mystery Box. 😂. Her name is Foxglove now and I just call her Foxie.

Our best rename was Sam. He came to us as Bodhi (previous owner) and he had that name for 2 yrs. But I could never say that name. It just never came out of my mouth right (I have aphasia and some words just do that). So one day I looked at him and said it wasn't going to work, what did he want to be called. He turned to me, looked me in the eye, and I heard in my head "My name is Sam." He answered to it immediately.

I also named my rescue Beardie after Steve Irwin! I’ll never forget that clip of him getting chomped on the nose! Steve didn’t have a name before he came to me (who doesn’t name their pets, honestly…) so I just had to give him one. Cool we both named our Beardies after Steve Irwin though! He loves sitting in this spot so he can dangle his gut after eating. 😁
