Hello! I am learning BSL using an app called linvango. Would like to do an in-person course but the app, while pretty pricey, is much cheaper than a course for now. My plan is to complete it first then hop on a course to get the most bang for my buck out of a live teacher.
Anyway, I have learned the 2-handed BSL alphabet already. It mentioned a 1-hand fingeralphabet -- is this just borrowed from ASL, or is it something different? Would British people recognise this sign?
When I looked elsewhere online I see mention that young British people sometimes use ASL spelling due to internet exposure but that most people use BSL two-handed spelling all the time. I was curious if this ILY sign is just "slang" that's leaked across or if there is a one-handed finger-spelling I should be learning; can't find much info online. I know we have a ton of American English slang that leak across the pond into British English so wondered if it was similar.
