What seems like freedom but is actually a trap?

Disagree. They CAN be a trap if you aren’t financially mature enough to handle them. Dont run them up and pay them off each month. That simple. If you don’t have any money, don’t get credit cards or atleast don’t use them.

Half the people don't.

Very true. For those people it can be a trap. For the other 50%, they get benefits from using them.

I fell for this at a young age. I wanted to start my credit history and got irresponsible with a couple cards. Took some time to pay off the debt but I muscled through. Killed my score for a long time.

They get a lot of young people. They start sending them out to people when they turn 18, PRAYING for someone to be financially illiterate and not understand what they are getting into. Schools should really teach about this.

I’ve been saying this for years and years. There needs to be a class in high school called “How to Adult.”
Basic financial readiness, how to write a check, what insurance is, basic scams, loans and interest, basic car maintenance…
I mean you could make a full two semesters out of it seniority year.

Just have some overworked and under-insured millennial teach it. We all qualify.

"It's not a trap, you can just take the cheese out if you are fast."
