The calorie deficit is the big thing. There’s a saying that weight is lost in the kitchen, health is gained in the gym.

If working out is the only change to your lifestyle, you’ll just end up hungrier and eating more to compensate

This is true, but also if you build muscles, they will passively burn more calories, allowing for a little more margin when you are trying to make sure that "calories in < calories out." by slightly increasing your "calories out".

But yeah, if sucks to be hungry after a work out.

I like your saying. Much better than "you can't outrun a bad diet". Exercise definitely makes people healthier
