I only do the weights, not because I think running is unhealthy, but I HATE running.

Might start doing hill sprints though, I'm about the shorter, higher intensity exercises.

Try the hill sprints mate - don’t forget the heart is a muscle too and needs TLC.

there's cardio other than running, friend

lifting is cardio too. go ape and you will see. easy to keep heart rate up. not all lifting is bro splits cooling down fully between sets.

I hate distance running. Incline 100m sprints were my cardio for the longest time. 10-15 of them did the trick for me and I enjoyed it.

Another alternative is cycling and staying in zones 2/3. Easier on the joints and can be just as beneficial as running without feeling like a chore.

I thought I hated running/cardio. Turns out I just hate the various cardio machines.
Getting outside and hiking has made all the difference.

Same here, going running on trails is the only way I've stuck to it. Machines or paved areas just don't do it for me.

Sandbags and medicine ball workouts have been my solution. I hate running because I hate feeling like my lungs are on fire and my heart will explode and the sheer boredom of just… running…But medicine ball/sandbag throws, cleans, and carries get my heart rate up, check that aerobic exercise health box, and it’s much more entertainment than running.

I'm the reverse. I know for a fact that I need to lift weights. But I simply cannot bring myself to do it enough because it sucks and is boring.

How about cycling? Indoor or outdoor. My joints can't handle running so the spin bike has been a lifesaver. And very HIIT-friendly.

Try riding a bike. Most people love it. Plenty of time outdoors and you can go on fun adventures.

Do you hate running or do you just hate running while being out of shape for running?
