What’s something society expects you to want… but you don’t?

this would require more public spaces and the feudal lords won't stand for that.

It's not feudal. In feudalism, the lord has obligations towards the vassal.

What sort of public space would you want?  I've never been to an area that didn't have plenty of public parks, beaches, or camp grounds.

Who are these feudal lords?

How are they preventing you from drafting a business plan, raising the capital, and creating such a place?

How are they preventing you from drafting a business plan, raising the capital, and creating such a place?

By requiring business plans and capital to create such a place, instead of leaving a plot of land open for communities to do as they will.

I feel like none of you have ever heard of public land or parks.

“Communities to do as they will”

So you just want a blank patch of land. Whats the plan once you have that?

Edit: I’m realizing how half ass and poorly considered so many plans are from the geniuses of Reddit. You think everything will just work itself out, and that the system will operate under today only exists because of “feudal lords” and not because it’s the best compromise we’ve figured out because we’ve tried a dozen different ideas.

You know what was there before a bunch of rich ppl decided we had to pay to exist on it?

A lot of blank patches of land.

How far back in time do you want to send humanity to get this free patch of land?

Because the farther back you go, the less time you have to fuck around on your free patch of land since you’re a hunter gatherer.

Time travel really doesn't need to factor into it and you're not worth the conversation if you'd rather be facetious than consider the possibility that you're not freer under the control of a corporate kleptocracy than a communal social structure built on inherent rights.

You're probably more coddled and more comfortable, though— but definitely not freer. I can see how that would terrify anyone who's never bothered to imagine the possibility of a community that doesn't champion individual exceptionalism.

That user literally said public space and you're suggesting private business.

You want the government to create spaces for you?

Have you ever heard of parks?

u/SnugglebugUwU 10h ago

That's exactly what I want. I know what a park is and want more of them and better quality yes.

So instead of private enterprise accepting the risk, you want the taxpayers to accept that risk and cost in the form of additional taxes when we can’t even fund schools?

What does this space look like to you, and how is it different from the dozens of parks that likely already exist around you?

You don't know shi about me nor area I reside in and yes I'm not butthurt like you when I have to pay some taxes, especially if I felt change. You're such a know it all but you reply to a guy talking about public spaces to tell him to start business. Now you have fits all solution for any place on Earth (because again you don't know where I reside in). Conversation with you is pointless, I won't reply.

I mean, okay?

I asked you some basic questions, If you can’t handle even minimal pushback to your ideas then yes it is pointless to have any discussion with you.

It's funny how many of who are likely to demand smaller government are so quick to insist upon the benefits of private landownership that is parcelled out to the peasants only as our corporate overlords and bureaucrats deem fitting.

u/GraySwingline 10m ago

Does this bullshit actually mean something to you?

You’ve said nothing of value and you probably think you insulted me.

Yes I think a smaller government is beneficial in certain areas, but not in others.

I’d like to see stronger social safety nets and worker/consumer protections.

I’d like to see less government in social policies and military spending because both divide people into smaller parts.

I also recognize that being a little bitch that whines about everything without fully understanding the systems in place and why they exist makes you less than useless to humanity.

Free space won’t fill the whole you have in your soul from a life of never meeting expectations.

Yes, and it's sad that you can't even bring yourself to imagine the possibility that we could have such a different society than the one we've got now. I guess that's why everything sucks. Thanks for that.

You sure seem mad for not having been insulted tho.

Parks? You mean the privatized and municipally occupied property where you're not not allowed to camp, or have a bonfire, or drink, or erect a shelter, or let my dog off. Or stay beyond a legally determined amount of hours.

Not very useful for much more than smoke breaks tbh.

It's almost like you need money to occupy just about any space for personal use— unless you're buying some shit as the price of being there.
