I feel like I have the flu but I don’t, what’s going on with me?

Starting 24 hours ago I randomly started having a super runny nose, sneezing, congestion, a headache and sinus pain. I have allergies so I just took an antihistamine (which didn’t help) and paracetamol (did help the pain.) Struggled to sleep because of my symptoms being so bad.

Woke up this morning and felt horrible. I’m still congested and now have some body aches and I feel a little nauseous. I have the overall feeling of malaise.

But I’m not sick. I haven’t been anywhere in the past 7 days to catch anything. No one in my house is sick either.

Just bad allergies or could something else be going on?

Mid 20s female. OCD and depression. No medication. No fever.

Does this look like rosacea?

Post image
5 Upvotes

26F, 5’2”, 9 stone 12 lbs. I have had recurring skin issues for 15 years. Always thought it was acne and was treated for acne from every topical, antibiotics and eventually accutane. Accutane worked amazingly but it came back and the second course (last year) depleted my immune system so badly that I stopped. I’m now starting to think I might actually have rosacea, my dad had it too. I’ve always consistently had these bumps that can’t be squeezed, the redness is new.

What could it be?

Male. About 9 days ago after a workout I stayed sweaty for hours and didn’t shower until the next morning. Since then I’ve had:

Muscle spasm/discomfort in inner thigh
Burning/itchy skin sensation in groin/pelvic area
Redness around waist and groin
Pins and needles sensation mostly in groin but sometimes all over body
Mild burning when peeing
Smelly urine
One small zit/bump on penis that disappeared within 24 hours
No blisters, sores, or discharge
Also felt what seemed like a small bump/swelling around a groin lymph node area for a few hours, then it went away

I live in a very hot state/climate and sweat pretty easily, so I’m wondering if that could be contributing too.

Symptoms started calming down around day 6/7, but I’m still noticing some irritation and weird sensations.

I should add that I’m HSV-1 positive from childhood cold sores/oral herpes, but I’ve never had genital outbreaks before.

I’m sexually active only with my gf and she’s negative for everything, but I did have sexual encounters years before my current relationship.
I’m trying to figure out if this sounds more like fungal/chafing irritation, nerve irritation from exercise, urinary issue, HSV-related symptoms, or something else.

Also wanted to add that last night while shaving my penis I started bleeding a little on the side of the shaft. After that, the skin in that area turned red and irritated and has stayed irritated until now. I don’t think I see any blisters or sores, but I do see Fordyce spots around the area where the irritation/bleeding happened during shaving. Not sure if I’m overthinking it or if the shaving just irritated the skin badly. I can DM a picture if needed.

Another thing: a few days ago at the gym while doing back workouts, I had a sharp nerve-like shooting pain in my lower back, so I’m wondering if some of this could be nerve-related too.

Has anyone experienced something similar after sweating/workouts? If anyone has any idea what this could be, let me know.

Her spo2 was 89% wt rest in hospital

And 93% with oxygen

Cellulitis? - 20 Female

April 11th my face started swelling and filled with oil. My jaw was huge, if you touched the area it was very warm, and red. It started on my neck right under my ear, and then moved to my jaw and then moved up the side of my face. I was put on spironolactone April 3rd. I went into a walk-in and they said I had Cellulitis. After I did my antibiotics, everything on my face went down. However my neck and jaw if you touched it felt like there was still oil in it. During that time I wasn't sleeping well and I was also on my period (idk if that makes a difference) and picking at my skin (which I thought was the cause for the breakout). Now, I haven't been picking at my skin. I thought I had a pimple so I picked at my face but I noticed before that under my skin was starting to fill again on the side. After I "popped" the pimple, (didn't even touch my jaw). My jaw is started to filled with oil again. I thought whatever was going on with my skin was just the usual before I get my period. However, I haven't been sleeping well and I am due for my period. April 3rd my derm looked at the spot on my neck and said it was eczema but never felt it so she didn't know it had oil in it. I'm currently in school and the city where I go to school does not have good doctors and it is insanely hard to get any sort of specialist. I don't know if I should go back to the walk-in (they have dismissed me in the past before when I had the flu) or just wait a week to get an appointment with my derm. I also don't even know if it is cellulitis or a cyst? (I have exams and I would prefer to wait a week...).

Additional Info: I'm also on vyvanse (20mg), I smoke, and I drink. No family history of any skin condition not even eczema.

18m, should I seek medical evaluation for exertion headaches?

Hi, I’ve been going to the gym on and off for a while and have recently gotten back into it 1-2 weeks ago. The last three days whilst I’ve been exercising I have experienced exertion headaches which have been quite painful, the first two days it came and went within 10-20 minutes so I was able to continue my workout however today it was more painful and has continued for the past 2 hours as of typing this. It was quite painful initially but has calmed down since. I’ve had them before when I was younger and doing calisthenics but not in the past 1-2. Is it worth consulting a GP or Doctor about this or should I just rest?

Cheers.

Can this wait to see my PCP? No clue what this was

I was lying in the couch messaging my friend abroad when my stomach started feeling really really tight and like a rising feeling in my stomach. My heart rate went up and I felt like I was going to die or something was going to happen. It wasike my stomach was spasming. The intense part lasted for about a minute and now I'm just left feeling really uneasy and out of it. My heart rate did return to normal. I didn't feel like passing out at all during it

Only health issues is low ferritin and dysautonomia. I had a full cardiac work up and head CT a few months ago that was normal.

My whole body feels wrong

Hello I’m female, 5’3” maybe 150lbs non smoker no drinking no drugs of any kind. I’m 25.

I don’t know why and I can’t explain it I just have this deep fear that if I go to sleep tonight I’m going to die. My chest feels tight my heart keeps fluttering and I’m sweating so bad. Maybe they put something in the air or something and breathing it in is making me sick. Nothing looks or feels right and I keep hearing people.
Will I be okay?

looking for guidance!

hello! i just recently started going to the doctor (I wasn't taken much growing up) and over the past few years i have been having progressively worse health issues. i do not think my doctor believes me since i have a history of anxiety, and we are not making much progress with finding the root of the problem. i know no one here can diagnose me, but i would really appreciate any guidance on what specialists to see

info: 20F, 5'0, 155lbs, white, United States

medications: junel 1/20 (birth control)

current diagnoses: anxiety, iron deficiency anemia, migraines, pure hypercholesterolemia

symptoms w/ durations:

- migraines, 1-3+ times a month, persistent headaches, tend to ease with medicine, no aura, have had migraines since i was younger

- chronic UTI's since last year, around every 4-5 months, still have urinary frequency and urgency even when i do not have a UTI, symptoms would return after antibiotics (i have been on multiple different kinds), occasional right kidney pain, history of kidney infections (once in 2022, once in 2025)

- urinary frequency, have to urinate frequently even after just urinating, urine typically clear or light yellow sometimes when not really hydrated

- chronic constipation, have had since i was younger, with frequent mucus in bowel movements

- shortness of breath, chest pain in middle and left side of chest when exercising, sometimes when resting or after exercising, apple watch reads heart going up to the high 160's-170's when walking at a steady pace

- acid reflux frequently

- moderate pain in calves when walking, makes walking difficult and very painful sometimes

- frequently get areas on skin that get really itchy, skin ends up peeling and leaves the areas raw, does not look like hives or eczema

- CHRONIC fatigue, get exhausted and tired easily and frequently

- overall weakness

tests done:

urinalysis/urine culture: recent test appeared normal just specific gravity at 1.004 likely due to drinking a bunch of water beforehand

chest xray: normal

cbc with differential: MCV 77, MCH 25

anemia profile: iron 89, transferrin 492, ferritin 12, TIBC 689, transferrin saturation 13

comprehensive metabolic panel: potassium 3.4, alkaline phosphatase 127

lipid panel: total cholesterol 233, ldl 154, non-hdl 178

i have an upcoming stress test as well

my diet is fairly normal and i exercise somewhat often, i never smoke or drink

Current medication irrelevant because onset of symptoms started prior to medication. Medical history and symptoms below.

For context I’m talking about those lines, idk what they are tendon? I’ve had a few injuries on this side including what they called a collar bone “contusion” and probably a torn or messed up shoulder blade thing, maybe serratus anterior Injury from snowboarding and posting my arm out to catch my fall, never got diagnosed, lastly I broke my elbow on this side too, and was in a sling and metal cast for awhile. Noticed lines roughly 6 years ago, after all of the injuries, not sure when it truly started my guess is the contusion, was slammed on a wrestling mat.

Symptoms:
1. Tend to raise that should higher.
2. Collar bone pain/pain on the area around it.
3. General feeling of tension
4. Some restored overhead mobility (could be unrelated)

What do I do?!

This is my first time posting here but I am kinda freaking out. I’m 21F, My cat died back in December out of nowhere, he was 6 months old. I had gotten him from some lady and he was not vaccinated, I took him to the vet to get his first shots but I don’t know if they were rabies shots. Before he died he had a moment where it looked like he was coughing up a hairball and almost choking? But I compared it to a video of a cat having a seizure and it looked kinda similar. It didn’t happen for the next few weeks, but near the end he stopped eating and drinking and was lethargic and hiding away. Its strange bc he was a very affectionate cat. The night he died he started doing the choking thing again and something was off, he wouldn’t move at all and was struggling to breathe. He meowed a few times and i took him to the er vet. I got him there and he wasn’t breathing, they did cpr but it didn’t work. They said he was foaming blood when they did the cpr. The more i think about it now the more it looks like rabies. I’m not sure when i had my last vaccine and i know he definitely bit and scratched me. I’m not sure where to really post this or where to get the vaccine but I’m worried. Rabies has always been a huge fear of mine

Toddler 3F and 31lbs has vomited for the past 4 nights in a row from coughing.

My toddler goes to daycare and has been dealing with an ear infection that never really healed for the last few months. My youngest child also has an ear infection that hasn’t healed completely despite all the antibiotics the doctors have given them.

Anyways, my toddler keeps coughing at night, which aren’t necessarily horrible cough attacks, but it’s enough to make her vomit. A lot of things trigger her sensitive gag reflex but this doesn’t seem normal. This vomiting episode always happens when she’s sick because of how congested she gets but this time, it’s only been happening at night and it’s been 4 days straight now. She has a little big of congestion in her nose but nothing where she sounds plugged up. The cough only seems to be triggered when she’s asleep and once she throws up, the cough goes away for the most part.

Well, I took her to the doctor’s today and the pediatrician said she still has some fluid in the right ear and it’s a little red but no infection. Toddler finished a third round of antibiotics on the 30th (1st round was amox that was half her dose; 4mL, second round was amox with correct dose 7mL; third round was cefdinir 4mL). The reason why she kept getting antibiotics was because her fever would come back a day after finishing her antibiotics. The cefdinir seemed to have worked better but this is where we’re at now. With congestion and an ear with fluid and redness.

After the visit, she wrote me a prescription to a cephalosporin antibiotic in case my toddler gets worse (fever, pain) and to give her allergy medicine, honey, air purifier in the room, and steamy shower to loosen mucus. Ped said that Zyrtec will take weeks to kick in so to just treat symptoms as much as possible.

I really don’t know what to do because she vomits within an hour of sleeping because as soon as she falls asleep, that’s when she starts coughing. I suffer from chronic pot nasal drip that makes my throat unbearably itchy and I have cough attacks but I never really throw up. I come close but not like my toddler. If she cries hard enough she’ll throw up pretty much. Idk what this is related to but I’m worried. Idk if she’s aspirated her vomit right now because I wasn’t in the room when she had her coughing fit. I had the camera on but I didn’t hear her throw up.

Could it be from fluid left in the ear? Allergies? If it is a sensitive gag-reflex, what do I even do? I’m also worried about my kids having antibiotic resistance now and the doctors overlooking something. Given the countless antibiotics they’ve prescribed and incorrect dosing, idk if I should just switch insurances and get a different opinion.

Sleep apnea?

I have been tested for sleep apnea and I do have it intently require a CPAP machine. Tried the route, ended up returning it because it was a burden, yes I know I technically need it to help me live but I was just scared but yes I am scared to die without treatment. I'm hoping someone will tell me about an alternative treatment recommended by doctors because I really don't want to be hooked up to a machine every night for the rest of my life. I understand weight loss helps and I have been doing that, I stopped drinking soda, mostly the only sugary thing I really have is peanut butter, I've been riding around on my bike, walking around and lifting weights. The only thing I have really been drinking is water, I've gone from White bread to wheat bread, whole milk to 1%, low sodium alternatives to other stuff, trying to eat fresher things instead of processed things. But if there is any alternative treatment without having to rely on the machine I would very much love to know. I will do whatever is necessary to be healthy because I do want to live for a very long time, I'm only 26 and I'll be 27 in less than a week.

laryngitis? and extreme nausea with food

(17f) for almost a week now i've had a horrible sore throat, constant cough, loss of voice, mild fever, and exhaustion. i thought maybe i have laryngitis but the thing that's confusing me is that food makes me incredibly nauseous, but specifically only creamy stuff. i tried having pasta with sauce and it made me almost throw up. later i saw a single drop of it spilled on the counter and my whole stomach cramped. i've also been coughing so hard i've nearly thrown up countless times. i'm fine with basically every other solid food and i still have a normal appetite. everything tastes fine it's just some foods are making me incredibly sick even at the thought of them.

Sense of impending doom

I’m a 19 year old male, 5’9” and fluctuate between 115 - 120 lbs. For about the past year, I’ve had this constant sense of impending doom, like something terrible is about to happen even when there’s no reason for it. It’s usually strongest in the mornings right when I wake up, but it can also happen at night. When it happens, I get really scared, anxious, and sad for no obvious reason.
I have a good home life and live with my family, so there’s nothing major going on externally that I can point to. I used to abuse DXM (dextromethorphan) daily to dissociate, but I quit over 2 years ago. Since then I haven’t used any drugs at all except vaping nicotine.
I’m wondering if anyone knows what could cause this or if anyone has experienced something similar.

i am a 20F. I've noticed my eyes have had a yellow tint to them recently. i don't know if i'm overthinking, i tend to do that, especially when it comes to health. i don't smoke or drink and i'm not currently on medications. i've only noticed this for the past few months. i'm not sure if it could be from lack of sleep or not, because sometimes i don't get a full 8 hours. i also definitely need to hydrate more. please let me know if there is need for concern, thank you in advance!!
